Admittedly I haven't been following this topic closely so please forgive me if I'm missing the obvious but what does this post have to do with the topic at hand?
So as some of you know I work as a nurse at a summer camp. The physician we have currently seems to favour using Atarax for the post anaphylaxis patient as opposed to the usual Benadryl. She says in her experience it has less nasty side effects and it has the same mechanism of action so why not give it?
I did a quick search and couldn't find any info on the net on using Atarax for ana so I was wondering if anyone else has heard/seen this?
Also:
"Sir, I'm sorry that your 74 year old father died. It's my duty to inform you that the cause of death will be listed as 'condom lodged in throat.'"
"Sir, I have a very serious topic to discuss with you. As you now, you have had a very large heart attack and you're not out of the woods yet. If your heart were to stop, we need to know.... what flavour of condom would you prefer?"
Sorry if I didn't interpret your post correctly but you seem to think I want this patient to be BLS. In no way shape or form do I think this person should be BLS if ALS is an option. I was just genuinely curious what ALS interventions would be done for the pt because I didn't know. There were no hidden meanings in my post.
Just out of curiosity, if the patient remained in the condition she is in for the entire transport would you do any ALS skills on her other than a monitor? Just curious, not making a point or anything.
I'm just waiting for the time that a medic crew arrives on a scene and a guy says "I'm a fire fighter" the medics respond "So what? Is the person on fire?" sarcastically... and they actually are...
