  1. ok, you young uns and you older badgers.....i am actively involved in cadet program as an adult, so believe when i say this, it has merit behind it.. Its not about protecting, you, the maturity of that young people may or may not have, the type of stuff that cadets do, the service they are with or whatever.... Its about what is legally, ethically and morally right. Arguments for that include are some kids are mature and enthusiastic and may be better than a lot of adults, and i can dig that, but it is still a null and void argument because as a minor you are not legally responsible, accountable nor professionally liable for your actions, and the dropkick adult is.... You cant plan ahead, you cant decide "hey son you better stay here, this sounds blike a bad one", you cant say that we sit around doing transfers all day. Emergency services is built on analysis of risk - the risk that something will go wrong, and while it might not go wrong very often when it does, its a shit storm, and i gurantee you that there will be a great ruckus afterwards when people start screaming "why was a minor there?" EMS juniors is a great thing, but it does not matter how mature we think they are - god knows i know some awesome 16 year olds, but in the end its what is legally, morally and ethically acceptable, and services who allow minors to be front line personnel, even as ride alongs, are not thinking about their level of service Back on topic now......... I think ems cadets or whatever is a fantastic thing, and there are many cadets i have met that are really good at the first aid they provide. Out of all the people here, Timmy is the man to talk to. I would guess you are a cadet leader mate??? P.S. Asys should get a medal for that post - way to go!
  2. Fair dinkum! i cant believe this thread is till going! So whos ended up being bigger in the end? Or are we still measuring up?
  3. with all due respect vs... your a whinging whining little kid, and its clear theres three ways of doing things in this world - the wrong way, the right way and the vs way..... Some ants do hang on and the little bastards can really frigging hurt pull your head out of your butt, you are not an absolute authority.
  4. Timmy, are they St John owned or are they bing mounted in the stadium for public access?
  5. Good GOD! cut the kid some slack! Hes in high school FFS and he wants to learn a bit about EMS! Show the kid some help and you never know, he might turn into a good EMT down the track, the fact hes asking about it now is a good sign, give the kid a hand an he might be able to learn a thing or two BEFORE he starts his classess Good thing you dont pick me for my grammer, i cant type for crap, and my spelling aint that great - but ill answer your criticisms right now about it................ BUGGER OFF! geez..........
  6. Paramedics dont usually save lives - they just prolong your miserabe existance
  7. the answers to select from were extrapolated from several research papers into GP's, Nurses, Midwives, and Physiotherapists attitudes towards EBP. I took the common attitudes towards EBP in all the papers and posted them here, i was just seeing if the PHC answers would be similar to the others
  8. just as well i didn't ask you then eh? Is hypocrytical like what your president is trying to do to whats left of the geneva convention? You should see it from where i am! Seriously mate! the rest of the world is constantly preached at about the problems of the US of A, and how EVERYTHING that the US of A does they simply justify and throw it under the banner of september 11? Arn't you sick of those 3500 people being used a political scapegoats?
  9. DAMN! i missed my 6 am morning root!
  10. GOD how easily you people are offended, take it for what it is, a stupid computer game! Keep a memory but get on with life for gods sake!
  11. Classic 2 SE why? Three words for you....TAX WRITE OFF.... Besides, we got a group rate and i only paid 60 bucks for it Au...not bad seeing you pay 130 for em here.......and when i get my return ill have paid like 40 for it.... Oh how useful it is when your mates mum owns a pharmacy.... So does anyone have one of the electronic scopes for EMS? cause if you do you need to prioritise man
  12. Just thought id see how the attitude in here stacks up against the research .......bit ironic isn't it?
  13. Do we want to start the Methoxyflurane nephrotoxicity debate again? Oh wait! that was a different forum Penthrane was outlawed by the FDA because of its nephrotoxicity in high doses in the 70's (i think) it was used as an induction anaesthesia for minor surgery for up to 5 hrs, which is far removed from the 90minute recommended exposure time. As far as im aware, Aus is the only country still using it, its has TGA approval here, but the long term effects on exposure to ambo's is undocumented, and our max dose per day is 6ml, which is arounf 40 - 50 minues...........
  14. what in the list dont you recognise, just outta idle curiosity?
  15. i cant figure out whats wrong with the MICA drug list dust? whats made up?
  16. MAN! why am i the only person who said the didn't know if they were credible! i guess the answer is a feel credibility is an opinion others have of you, and not one you have of yourself
  17. Ruffems The point i was trying to make (and a rather poor effort it was though) was that just becaus somone chooses to have a piece of kit that is different from the norm, or not what you personally carry, it does not necessarily make them a whacker - theres a lot of blanket coverage going on here that if you dont need it, then no one else does either Someone said it somewheres else theres a lot of "its my way or the highway" Now dust (no attack mate - i just dont have the brains at the moment to come up with a better example ) said that in 30 years hes only used a punch a couple on car wrecks, i did 3 alone on sunday...but because i have a different circumstance it makes me a whacker? or anyone else a whacker? i just figured it out, its assessment week, im tireded, running on empty and im a bit cranky! sorry...  :x
  18. Im about to buy a window punch for my job - does that make me a whacker? i got in one convenient little pouch, a bit bigger than a thermomug that like i said stays in the truck unless i think i need it... trauma shears scissors mini maglight tweezers leatherman - i dont know why i have that actually - but the little scredwiver has come in handy Stethoscope - if im the treating officer i put this in my access pack Kelly forceps Probably a window punch (and yes i will use it.....) the only thing i carry on my person is a penlight, pen, notepad and my mobile phone so again people...am i whacker?
  19. yeah okay - im a whacker by the standards in here....generally i have what VS suggested but i do have a pair of hemostats, tweezers and a leatherman so if im a whacker now well, whatever man.... OOooo get this i also have it in a holseter, with my littman stethoscope!!!! so when i feel i dont need it, i leave it on the dashboard of the truck, and when i feel i do need it, i put it on my belt!!!!! OMG!!! im a whacker to the extreme now.....................next thing you know ill be thinking a window punch may not be a bad investment, sure beats hunting around for a rock or a tyre iron, especially for 10 bucks..... I also have a trauma bag i used when doing volly first aid work, i MUST be a whacker..... P.S. you take what you need to do the job, and ill take what i think i need to do the job and when you aske to borrow sumthing down the track, i'll tell you to bugger off:D
  20. they dont actually call it a "Heart thump" in class do they?
  21. NREMT - i think you took mothers post a bit to personal mate, i think you'll find that was a gerneralisation, not an attackon you..... People frak at the term "orthostatic hypotension" i dont know why, think of it as "postural hypotension" "whats that? feeling dizzy while sitting? (take B/P) bit low..... here lay down and stick ya legs up Take B/P) bit of an improvement, that feels better? cheers!" Its all basic dudes and dudettes - little jug full of water, pour into big jug...low volume, stand a long time at attention and the blood pools at the extremeties oops! hypotension, syncopal episode. I think some people are over thinking this
