  1. You know something EMS is like any thin elce from a customer service point of view. Your provideing customer serivce rather then just transporting a patient from A-B as well as good patient care. I have a Sales and Marketing backround in addtion to EMS. I honestly belive that you must be nice and provide good customer serivce and patient care when doing your job. Its all part of the promt and kind serivce one should provide when working with people. So many times I have seen people in our profession forget that what we do is more of a customer serivce as well as provideing patient care and transport.
  2. This is a good topic for myself as well. I currently work as a EMT-B in NH but there is very little to no work in NH for Basics. I am geting my EMT-B in MA soon. I know when I get a full time EMT job in MA I am 99.9% certian it will be with an IFT company since there are so many hospitals in and around Boston and more IFT Ambulance serivces then you can shake a stick at in MA. I have worked EMS for a while doing mostly medical standy for sporting events and convention it will be nice to work in a Ambulance transporting patients instead of stablizing them then calling for transport. Cheers
  3. I did that for a reason since posting a whole article has caused problems in the past for this site.
  4. LINK- Camera taken by police at MVA -CANTERBURY, N.H. -- A Concord-area freelance photographer said a state trooper confiscated his camera at the scene of a car crash Wednesday morning, WMUR News 9 reported. Blackden, who is also affiliated with Penacook Rescue, is a former firefighter, EMT and police officer who takes pictures at emergency scenes all over the state, often sharing them with News 9 and selling the photos to local newspapers.A year-and-a-half ago, Penacook Rescue invited him to take pictures for their department, and he routinely shows up where they do -- just like he did in Canterbury Wednesday, News 9 reported. I don't know why the state police felt the need to take this persons camera since he may have been acting in line with his department rules. The First amendment is very clear however as a reporter he has a right to take pictures and it's in his best interest to use them in good taste which this person has and has proven so in the past. JEMS published a great article about the unexpected consequences of on-Scene Photography and allot of it applies. JEMS The Unexpected Consequences of On-Scene Photography
  5. Just had to pay the Providence Office of Enforsement 570.00 to take a boot off my car.

  6. I spent six years in the Air Force working sheetmetal repair on planes. I have seen my fair share of bird strikes, rabbit strikes and a car strike but that was more like a crash. The military uses fences, horns, rock beds and falcons to keep birds and animals aways from runways and aircraft movement areas. Im assuming that your in a remote area with very little money to put up fences, fancy horns and rent falcons. Birds are normaly assosiated with air craft damage. Its very uncommon for deer and wild life to hit aircraft unless a place is infested with like say rabbits. If I were you I would do this -Make sure there is no large ammounts of garbage like dumpstars and dumping sites with in 500 feet of the runway, -Also visualy check the runway from a tower or high point of the air port before a plane takes off. -If possible fix the fence -Leave the sent of humans in the effected areas animals dont like that. Deer vs F-15 the plane hit it while landing
  7. What good is being happy in life if you dont do what you love.

  8. When I was in the Air Force as a mechanic with the added job of First Responder I was issued Full neon green reflective vest for use on the flight line instead of the standard refelctive belt. Full Military First Responce Bag with 02 bottle Extra Pair of sage green ABU boots Extra Warm all weather ABU jacket Standard issue helment Gas mask w/ case I was the only person in the whole Air Craft Maintainer unit to have Blue lights on his military work vehicle. These days since I have no job I only have a pair of EMT pants and EMT T-shirt for the times when I get a vol shift here and there.

  12. I may be unemployed and looking for a EMT job but yea count me in on this one. This kind of crap that uses our court system to basically fund a privet newspaper is BS in my opinion. A privet company should not abuse our court system to sue the crap out of people or websites with no cause. I wouldn't even wipe my @ss with that newspaper. I may not have much money right now but count me in none the less.

    More bad PR

Crap like this pisses me off. Come on how is the public to trust us if people keep doing stuipd and dumb crap like above. I would like to ask that guy what brand of cereal he got his license from? Maybe it would not be a bad idea to put cameras in the back of the trucks to keep every one honest.

  15. Fraudulent EMT Certification Growing This sort of thing really makes me mad. Its one thing for an instructor to knowingly take money in exchange for a card but its another for a student to knowingly do the same. I know some of the classes we do seem rather booring but its no excuse not to do them let alone pay someone money just for a card. or cert I know on the job training is normaly the best but the as we all know we have to take the classes put forth by the DOT and State EMS offices. It makes me sick knowing I may work with people that have or had false certs. The public has to have faith in us to do our job and things like this dont help matters if we as a profession are trying to shake off the notion of just being Ambulance Drivers. I think is some one does that sort of thing they should be banned from EMS and or serve jail time.
  16. Hello and welcome to the circus
  17. The British have always made some very good safety PSA. Out of all of them this one is the best. The Gwent Police in Wales made this PSA to help prevent young kids from texting and driving. Its very graphic and shows a MVC from begining to end. This is only the trailer.
  18. You can apply for a License in M.A. but its at the sole discression of the M.A. Department Of EMS depending on your circumstance if you took an out of state class since they dont recognize NR. If they say yes you will have to pay 150.00 and take the writen and practical tests but it take a long time to get all the paper work done if you dont hold a states providers license. Heres the link to MA department of EMS for more infomation. Honestly if I were you I would retake a EMT class so you have fresh knowlage to properly be a EMT. Its in your best intrest to have NR it makes your life alot easyer.
  19. X rays huh.................... Why buy an X Ray Machine when you can have a classic 1940's shoe fiting Fluroscope. Nothing but you and a 1 mm thick aluminum filter standing between a 50 kv x-ray tube that deliverd an 175 mR/hr of un shielded x-ray. Nothing like a classic x ray machine with not an ounce of lead sheilding on the thing. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm X-rays yummmmm can you say radiation. LINK- Shoe Fluroscope
  20. Smells dont really bother me most of the time. The only thing that use to bothers me was the smell of decaying flesh with gun power but that got old quick.
