  1. Ummmm wow I wonder what happend? If I were you I would CMY as much as I can. If things go wrong he could take you down with him. Vitals are the most basic part of what we do in EMS. In my opinion if your not doing them well or even at all then you should not be put in charge of a patient. Back to Basics I say or just slap him.
  2. Hummmmm this topic got intresting while I was gone this weekend. I got into EMS to help people if there is a chance I can help them I will stop. But up where I live it takes the Emergency Serivces a while to respond sometimes. I know there might not be much you can do for a person depending on what happend and why. But like Mavrick I have all the gear in my truck to render basic care when ever I need it. I travel though some very rual areas and its better to have the stuff to be on the safe side. Even in the urban areas it has come in handy to at times. This makes for a intresting topic because we are all from diffrent areas.

Cheers and thanks tskstorm I try not to piss any one off most of the time but you cant please every one.
  4. Perhaps so but I keep an open mind till I find out other wise. As for them buying out Rockingham that is NOT true they are only taking over 911 Serivce from them in the city of Manchester NH. They will still be around when AMR takes over in 2011.
  5. You make a good point and I respect that but its something I have always wonderd. Maybe its just me but while I lived in England people just were kind and stoped to help. To me it just seems like common sense and a form of respect if no one elce is there. I know it sounds stupid but yes I keep a reflective vest in my car since while I was stationed in the UK all cars were required to have them in the passenger compartment. I apologize ahead of time for the impending shit storm that may start. I honestly was not intending to start anything or what not.

Well I mine as well say hi I am from NH and just got my NREMT EMT-B last month. Before that I was in the Air Force stationed in the UK at RAF Lakenheath as a mechanic, First Responder, desk jockey, Security etc etc. Since the Military would not send me to EMT school I signed on with St Johns Ambulance UK and become a Ambulnace Tech in my spare time. In total I have been in Public serivce for the last seven years and am currently unemployed looking for a EMT-B job in NH. Once I have the proper work experiance as a EMT B I want to go on to Paramedic school. I have a firm believe that the best thing in life you can do is help some one, thats why im in EMS like my father and my grandpa was.
  7. The other month I was heading north on I93 heading back to NH from RI, its a route I always take and I know it very well. It was about midnight and I saw a car with MA plates cut across three lanes of empty highway and cut off the only other car infront of me sending it into median guard rail. I saw the whole thing happen from about 100 feet back in the left lane. So I cut across and stoped about 100 feet ahead of the wreck. I get out of my car and check out the werck and well no suprise the smell of cheep beer is everywhere. The guy seems to be fine with the exception of a large cut on his head. I call it into 911 just to get cut off by the 911 dispatcher as soon as I give her the mile marker, location and what happend. So after about 10 mins the state police showed up and arrested the guy and waited for EMS. It just suprises me that not a soul from the many passing cars cared to stop or even slow down to look at the wreck. That just pisses me off in my opinion to high heck. I belive the best thing in life you can do is to help someone. Yet not a single soul cared to stop or even slow down to see if this guy was all right besides me. I keep alot of emergency stuff in my car just in case I come across a emergency and I know all of it will come in handy someday and just maybe help someone in need. I dont know if just Massachusetts or bad luck I just hope I dont crash my car there. The question I ask all you fine folks is if you saw the same thing and no one was on the scene would you stop to help till the Emergency serivces got there?
  8. I just applied with them and am waiting to hear back from the on when I can go to Natick to take the AMR test. According to the email they sent me that are taking over 911 serivce in Manchester NH on Jan 1 at 1200. They are hireing every thing from B to P and seem rather eager to get a pool of applicants going. The scuttlebut is that AMR will charge more then Rockingham and not be a local company like Rockingham. A couple of groups on Facebook have poped up to keep Rockingham in Manchester and claiming questionable things. Some have said AMR paid alot of money to take the service over from Rockingham compaired to what Rocakingham pays for the contract so They must of promised the city alot of stuff. AMR has been in the local area for years and they have alot of tallented people working for them. With some luck I hope I can work for them.

    Dipping'

Even with all my time in the military I never started smokeing or diping yet the military went out of its way to sell discounted smokes and dip. I hate treating people who just diped as your doing PA. I dont mind alcohol or drunks but dip is just nasty.
  10. Speaking as a BASIC EMT-B cant use CPAP in N.H. it looks really cool and would be great to use but we cant use it. But the word is that someday soon we will be able to use CPAP. It shown in the new EMT-B book and has alot of page space dedicated to it so hopfully we will get to use it. As for the rest of the the info you need I dont know since I am a new U.S. EMT currently looking for his first US based EMS job. I will gladly read your paper when you finish it since im always looking for new insite and info about EMS.
  11. Hummmmmm from the way you spell and phrase your comments you seems to be in the UK or a commonwealth of the crown? Did this happen in the USA or some where elce? As for my self I use to live in the UK and did alot of non profit work as a Ambulance Tech with St Johns. If I stayed in the UK I would of gone on to work on the NHS Ambulance Serivce. If your in the UK and you have a problem with the system there are plenty of ways to go about solveing the problem, then just posting here and ignoring what alot of very tallened EMS providers have to say. My advise to you would be to tell every one here exactly what happend step by step and STOP beating around the bush since it makes you look like you dont know what your talking about. If you have a genuine issue and problem these fine folks here can give you some very good advice if you awnser there questions. I dont mean to be blunt but I can understand to a point why your unhappy but your only lieing to your self if you dont come clean and say every thing that happend. Alot of us are here to help and as for my self I have found this place a welth of good infomation about life and EMS. Cheers and thanks +Medic
  12. I have a bunch of those trauma dressings in my personal first in bag from when I was in the military. They work a treat and are in every single IFK now in the military. As for quick clot its ok but is very hard for the ED to get out of the wound and some quick clot will actualy burn your patient or you while closeing the wound. Its good stuff but cant be used on the torso or head and many states wont let EMTs use it. But the newer forms of quick clot dont burn as bad or hurt like hell.
  13. I found this the other day in my sluthing of the internet. Its seems a Canadian Lingerie company has found an inovative way to get people intrested in CPR by useing models in Lingerie. Both videos they made are done rather well and makes sure the basic techniques are shown in a good way. http://supersexycpr.com/index.html
  14. I am rather new here but reading this has made my eyes sore since I thought there was two sides to the story. It seems that Lifeguard will not awnser any questions beside the one he wants to awnser. Since all Lifeguard has done is complain about why he could not pass the test and has not said what the protocol was he failed on he has no desire to better him self and learn. Sorry to be the one to state the obvious and if its out of taste im sorry but if you cant cut the mustard and be willing to work hard and learn maybe EMS is not for you.
  15. Thank god I dont have to pay a cent to go to school. After six years in the Air Force they tend to pay for your school when you get out. Im in EMT B school in NH now and will work my way to EMT P in due time so help me god. My advise is find a service who needs medics and see if they will pay for some of the cost.
