  2. How has this Field affected my life? Ha-- you really don't want to know. Fortunatly for me I have the ability to work in a very rural setting, a small town and I make an elite amount of money for a single mom of 3 and the benifites are better than adverage for where I live. I work 3 12's for a 36 hour week and that is full time for me. I am able to provide for my family and be mommy at the same time. We get all the overtime we want- pretty much so I can still work 4 12's be at home every night, and get 3 days off, with great pay!! HOWEVER-- the EMS field period was very detrimental on my relationship with the father of my children. As he was a very jealouse man I watched as 15 years of relationship wasted away into a vast nothingness. 12 years of marriage gone because a narrow minded closed off self centered person who didn't understand how one could care about strangers and give of themselves... An extremly Jealouse person who couldn't understand the comraderie of the EMS crews....... One thing I learned-- be who you are and don't ever let anybody stand in your way of it. Being a stay at home mom I was going nuts and stir crazy but I was also living a sheltered life hidden away from the world I loved to be a part of. I choose a job that allowed me the best of both worlds. I can still be mommy and be apart of EMS. I thought I did a good job ballancing it all- but I guess I was wrong. Very wrong indeed. So My resolve? To hell with he who is demanding and controllng - roll with it or check out! I have been with my job 3+ years and I am looking forward to many more! I would love to work the field someday but that is on hold for the sake of my preciouse babies... Some day I will but just not now-- gotta prioritize!!!!!! I will be content to answer the phone lines and radio's for the flight crews laying it all on the line.......
  3. One word: Digoxin -- I say toxicity....... But what do I know I am just a comm spec..........

  5. Pat her down for a insulin pump, then stop it. IV give glucose, thiamine. Then recheck glucose.
  6. This is what a flight Nurse had to say..... Its an accelerated idioventricular rhythm. IV, O2, amiodarone IV and if that doesn't work cardiovert.
  7. Well obviously they don't know nor do they understand it is so much more comfortable (and fun) with a larger bed! I mean for us we write songs about sleeping single in a double bed-- well that is the makes for a more interesting version -- sleeping double in a single bed!!!
  8. I mean call me stupid but why am I the only one noticing the Hotel room- it only has a twin bed? WTF? A TWIN bed? I mean come on Ozzy and Harriett when out of style looong time ago!!! A TWIN BED!!!!!! What are you gonna do with a TWIN bed?
  9. Thank you for the clarificaton.

  13. At AEL we have 2 charity programs. It would be easy enought to say the money would go there. BUT honestly I would put the money towards the upgrading of our B206LR, this providing a safer air craft for my flight crews. HOWEVER- in the industry we work in 1 million wouldnt go far.... So I would say I would like to use it for community outreach- improvement on the helipads at rural firedepartment, EMS stations and Hosptials. Many of them are unsafe and many of them are not FAA qualified. So there I would still spend it to provide a safer invironment for my crew members.
  14. ROTFLMAO!! I Have seen MadTV!! Now I think I need some O2..........whew :thumbleft:
  15. Think Mutual AID -- its a wonderful thing........ Do you think any of our air craft where licensed in Lousianna when Katrina hit? Not all of them where licensed in Texas or Mississippi either for all that matters.....
  16. HHmm, I dont' remember saying anything about being offended. I am looking to see who was offended... actually I believe my statement was Lame- not offensive.......just thought I would point that out for the record.

  18. This is kinda delayed however this Tacticle Medic was busy becoming a new daddy again... and since he took the time to respond to the Form question posted I felt it was worth posting it here for you to read......... Anyway as for the forum question about tactical medics. It has become common place for EMS to specifically consider tactical medics as paramedics who have completed tactical medic training and who are actively assigned to swat or a law enforcement special response team. Now as for being armed or wearing armor that is up to the team commander and the sponsoring EMS director to create a tactical medic position and the associated protocols and operating procedures. The person posting states they are part of a DMAT team which sets up field hospitals or supports existing medical personnel. DMAT medics are charged with caring for patients and supporting local medical systems in the event of a disaster. Their primary objective is patient care in a warm or cold zone (ie: field hospital). Tactical medics are medics assigned specifically to swat, military or other special response units. These medics are trained in close quarter combat, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, CBRN, and rapid patient extraction. Tactical medic's loadout or gear is specific to support the tactical team to which they are assigned. The goal is to keep their team medically sound and functional in order to complete their mission with everything else being secondary. These medics are held to the same physical condition standards and weapon training standards as the other tactical team operators. There are MATT teams that use tactical medics these teams are medically assisted tactical teams but they are not DMAT teams. While a lot of equipment these days are being designated as tactical what needs to be understood is that post 911 this has been the best selling market. The two priciest designations for equipment is CBRN and tactical. Almost every piece of medical equipment or bag now comes with the option of OD green, black, or ACUPAT...the tactical colors. So anyway I would consider DMAT medics to be Disaster Support Medics or Operators if they choose. To me that sounds better than tactical.
  19. He He SANTA's got a brand new GAG!!! Incog's gonna have fun playing Santa this year.....
  20. Well Devin We don't have any HEMS crews in NJ, however..... We do know all about multiple air craft scenes and mass causulity responses..... Our company had the largest turn out for Evacuations for Katrina, utilizing 8 or so helicopters and at least 100 crew members...... So we have a good solide knowledge base for these type of opperations... Also as a NAACS member I will send out a few feelers to see if I can find out all of the EMS HEMS operators near in and around NJ.......
  21. Were I come from you had to be at least 17 years of age---- When did this change???
