I like my job, I hate some of my dispatchers and some co-workers.

What I dont understand here is, some hospitals here will put you in the hallway, god knows how long you will wait before anyone sees you, I just dont get how that couunts as a "room" for a patient. So much for confidentiality.

Um, I dont plan on assessing no ones nut, he will get vitals taken and transproted.

I have come to a conclusion, date or marry some one out of EMS or healthcare. Can save arguments.

WOW! all I gotta say

I noticed a few things, like for example, when doing CPR and "cracking" chest, tahst not mentioned, we had an EMT terrified he did something bad when that happened, nothing in our book states that. And some other things Ive noticed to, but every job is based "hands" on.

My service does neonatal/pediatric critical care transports for children's hospital of Pittsburgh transport team when they cant fly due to inclimate weather or close proximity hospital. Anyway, around 5:30 on Christmas eve morning, we get called to go to a hospital about 8 miles out of Pittsburgh for a 5 year old in cardiac arrest., we picked up the team and got there in like 10 minutes, the team went in, we found out, child was worked on by ED staff for 60 minutes and nothing, they pronounced him in the room... I was okay until the mother and sister walked in saw the kid and lost it, I had to leave run out to truck and I lost it, saying "why now??, its christmas eve", "what that kid do to deserve this". Then another truck pulled up, it was another one of my crews and I had to suck it up, and stopped. A normal person dying is not going to hit, but a 5 yr old on christmas eve, that was tough, and I was fine til the family lost it. I am ok, til its kids.

Tell them to treat your patients like it was your mom,dad,child, etc..... I would also tell them that it is a big difference from the text book to the street, I ve told a few people I know who were taking EMT class that, and they found out the hard way that most of the book goes out one ear when you hit the street.

Here is what the relief association is about: Volunteer Firefighters' Relief Associations (VFRAs) are non-profit organizations established to afford financial protection to volunteer firefighters who suffer misfortune as a result of their efforts. VFRAs receive state aid from a 2-percent state tax on fire insurance purchased by Pennsylvania residents from insurance companies incorporated outside of the commonwealth. These funds are used to pay for insurance to protect volunteer firefighters, purchase fire equipment and to cover volunteer training expenses. VFRAs are distinct separate legal entities from fire companies. VFRA funds are audited to make sure they are spent according to state law. The bureau also conducts workshops to help local firefighters comply with VFRA regulations.

I agree with all this!!! Me and my partner are goofy as hell, so we aree always making fun of coworkers and people and laughing, especially on radio. I also like the hot nurses in the sexy scrubs
