  1. This always kills me. Ok, I'll put it down for you when I'm done if you'll leave it up for me. Two years in college tells me different. I held each and every door for my girlfriend last night. I also proposed to her. She has a thing for politically incorrect cavemen.
  2. There was a girl that graduated in the Paramedic class before me who claimed a couple years ago she didn't know she was pregnant until she was starting to dilate and was in the hospital. I hope she picked up some information during class.
  3. Yep, nothing promotes studying like a lack of options!
  4. Hopefully you find a way. You sound like someone who should be in EMS.
  5. First things first: Viv, The retort herein is of my own thinking. This is not inteded to be a statement for all men, event the ones laughing as they read this. This was not done to impress my friends, and was not their idea. I can dig myself into holes by myself just fine. If you don't believe me, check my posts. For the women who were able to laugh at this, thank you.
  6. Are we the only country that protects the ignorant, immoral and inbred? Would scourge like this be allowed to pull this crap in other countries?
  7. ...the gang's kingpin, Jon Bon Jovi could not be reached for comment. Kenny G and Fabio were reportedly seen fleeing from the scene, however police are following up on this report. Although there were no physical injuries, it is impossible to guage the detrimental effect this will have on the "Pimp my Drag Queen" show scheduled later this week. Back to you, Brent...
  8. Good, it's not just me. I thought I developed ADD for a minute there. Sorry for your sister, sounds like a lot.
  9. ...as in RIGHT OUT OF HER MIND?
  10. The fact that they made a race optional is enough to prove to me event coordinators and coaches knew the race was a bad idea.
  11. It's a venoscope. Has it's uses but doesn't replace competency.
  12. Security guards are not usually fit as fiddles. A string bass maybe. A well rested string bass.
  13. How do they classify bathrooms and locker rooms? I would think they would have to allow some sort of area of privacy. Does the company not need any justification for putting up cameras in the first place? I suppose if there are prevalent theft issues, but that's still a stretch.
  14. Part of that "don't let this happen to you crowd".
  15. Wouldn't they have to prove that the bunkroom is a working area and that there is absolutely no expectation of privacy by the employees?
  16. This should be standard practice IMO. Also a good pitch for selling Opticom.
  17. How many would testify in court that slapping a patients face is an acceptable method of assessing mental status? She should have lost her license as she has. The only methods I have ever been taught were: sternal rub, pinching the palm of the hand, and direct pressure on a nail bed.
  18. Admin removed the comment I made for a good reason, it was out of line. For that I apoligize. I just had a friend lose his truck and now possibly his house because of getting into a business with a friend from work. The buildup started with sympathy about him having to work so hard and missing time from family... hey, I was going to start a business, do you want in... the investors won't come through, but hey, if we invest our own money we would be better off anyway in the long run... oops, I guess it's not going to work out. He left the job a week later and moved to the east coast somewhere. WANTYNU was the target of a message meant for someone else. He just happened to sound alot like the guy who took my buddies money and a lot of snake oil salesment I've seen. I also saw that his first posts were basically revolving around this issue. WANTYNU, if you are truely trying to help people with money, good luck. There are a lot of people who need it. I appologize for not giving you a chance. Apparently I don't give them out enough.
  19. Pretty much the same thing that happened to me. I don't know what I missed the first time. I was told that many people were missing basic things like vitals, c-spine, not putting an occlusive on the back, etc. The second time I went slower and verbalized everything more deliberately and apparently it helped because I passed. Either I completely missed something so completely that I don't even know I missed it or the evaluator didn't hear me.
  20. I agree. I watched Family Guy and went to bed early. Good times.
  21. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/103-9...=paramedic+exam How to Prepare for the EMT Paramedic Exam by Mark Marchetta is a good book to start with and works well about 1 month before the test. The first chapters are separated by section, then there are three "final" exams. These tests seemed to be the closest to NR testing. Paramedic Exam by learning express came highly recommended. It is a good book, if you're ready to take the test (i.e. 1 - 2 weeks before the test). I believe these tests will go into more detail than the other books. http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.j...n=9780323019590 I also used the Paramedic / I-99 study guide by Mosby. This worked out well as we used the Mosby book for the class. It is also good computer-based test taking practice. I used the materials in the timeframe I described and did ok on the tests (80% - 85% average first runs). I took the NR test on 7/7/07 and passed the first time. The test stopped at 77-78 questions and I actually felt pretty confident when I walked out of the test. Until I realized I got the last question wrong, that is. I thought the last question would be a guide as to pass / fail regarding the test. It's not. I never took the paper test so I can't really say how hard it was, but I actually think the computer test might actually be easier than the paper tests were. But again, it's only speculation. The two biggest tips I can give you are: 1: Don't rush as people taking computer test are reported to do. 2: Don't worry about the questions already answered. If you think about previous questions, you'll be less focused on the future ones. Good luck.
