  1. I wouldn't be so quick to give up on your path. As others have commented, think hard about where the difficulties come from in regards to Chemistry. Also , consider you are sabotaging yourself now due to previous failures. Is Organic Chemistry an option? If you have had A & P & biology courses, you probably have met the pre- reqs for it. I will bet you will find this more interesting, and have more success in studying it. It relates more directly to health care then general Chemistry. Just a thought. Best of luck to you, don't give up.
  2. .......things are not closer than they appear.......... A man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk; naturally...I assumed you had stolen the car .''
  3. That is so far from the issue. Regardless of the gender of the caller, it was uncalled for. Had this been an upset son, somehow the outcome would be different?? That calls for a different reaction???? It shouldn't. I can only speak for me, but someone "curses" if front of me-- who the f**k cares. Do your job. Oh, and I am female, just for the record.
  4. Wow!! Looks like some quality control is in order, and some serious training issues need to be addressed. If dispatch can't handle a distressed person without getting personal about it, they are in the wrong line of work. How sad and pathetic. Fire his ass.
  5. I also would love the chance to chat with you not a haiku, LOL But anyway Michael, for you, I would anti up for the chat room.
  6. I wish I could go back in time, and not learn what I have learned about someone I thought I knew about. I wish for the power to alter other's emotions.
  7. Yes AK, I agree with this. As this is the best opportunity and exposure to the victims that abusers get, so yes those statistics are high. And for those in a new city or who know nobody, there is little choice to find sitters, and this is better than flagging people down in the street. It just never would be a choice for me.
  8. Personally, I would never use a service like this. The only sitters I have used are children of good friends I trust completely, and those I have met through friends that know them well. The fact nothing shows on a background check could simply mean they have never been caught doing anything wrong. We all think we are good judges of character, but people can be very deceiving. As an employer you can always fire people, but I would not want to risk something happening to my child first before I fire them. If it sounds paranoid, or that I am afraid of the boogyman, so be it. But nothing is worth risking the safety of my child.
  9. Happy Birthday Sweetie!!! I hope you enjoyed AK's kids, I only had dwarves to send. Good things come in small packages. All the best to you!! L

  11. My thoughts too. "Russ, 42, had failed to surrender after being charged with threatening his ex-wife who lives in another state, officials said. Following his father's death Nov. 11, Russ agreed to surrender after the funeral....When deputies approached Russ during the Saturday funeral, he "went wild" and spat on the officers, said New Hanover County sheriff's chief deputy Ed McMahon" I suppose they could have waited until the service was over, but that would make the officers stand around waiting for this guy. Does he deserve that? Do other people get to finish what they are doing when police come to arrest them? I expect even then there would been a huge scene, I don't think this guy would surrender graciously.
  12. Blue- Protime (This tube has an additive, must be filled to top for the test to be accurate) Striped- Chemistry (cardiac enzymes, liver function, etc.) (Does not need to be filled, it is surprising what tests can be run with a small sample) Lavender- Hematology (complete blood count-platelets...) (Should be full but can be run if it is not) Red- Type & Cross
  13. So if you celebrate someone's birthday at work, are you being unprofessional or showing a lack of respect? Some shows on prime time would probably have a R rating in the theaters. If some Doctors are sitting around in their lounge at the hospital, watching it, they are unprofessional? Would their patients lose all respect for them and physicians in general if they knew they were in the lounge watching a R rated movie? Doubt it. Where do you draw the line? That is the danger of black and white rationale and sweeping generalizations.
  14. I would say this is a bit of a stretch. You also don't find IBM Corporate Officers sleeping in their offices- apples and oranges. If you don't like whats on, leave the room or ask them to change the channel. Life is not black and white, there is always grey. This reeks of censorship. Whose call is it what is entertainment, and what is porn or inappropriate? Should libraries burn the books you feel are inappropriate? I know that's off the topic, just saying- one person's idea of "right" does not fit all.
  15. Hey Ak- I talked to my son (8th grade) about this, it would be great to get his class involved.

    Hilarious

I'm sure they sounded pretty good to themselves when they were prepping with some 90 proof tampons.
  17. Happy belated Birthday Cutie!!! Hope it was a great one! :occasion4:
  18. You left out a few categories Dust, but I will vote for you.
  19. Definitely the second choice, as long as my boss was George Clooney. Which would you rather: Discover definitive proof of life after death/ ghosts or proof of life on other planets? And Terry re: your above post- neither!!!
  20. If there was not this residency stipulation, would you consider moving to Oregon together? It sounds as though there is a lot of history and hard times with this ex of yours. However, I think you can go through the courts and use this history to make changes to your custody orders, even if the father tries to fight it.
  21. I took your dare Michael, but just had to !!
  22. Ouch darling!! We don't want to become too jaded:!
  23. WTF?? Didn't he learn to stay away from those loan sharks???
