  1. In the words of William Shakespeare: Cowards die many times before they are dead. The valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders which I yet have heard it seems to me most strange that man should fear, seeing that death - a necessary end - will come when it will come.
  2. Fantastic! I could use another tax deductible vacatio...err I mean educational conference necessary for the maintaining of my licensure for my job. Was fun last year...will have to see if I can swing this years...but seriously December??? You guys need to put the bodies on ice and hold out for the warmer months!! I froze my ass off last year and I am a Yeti!!!
  3. And now he is on the run...with his WIFE! I wonder what story he told her to get her to go along with his running away idea. http://www.jems.com/article/news/accused-indiana-emt-run
  4. Thanks bro but there was third one in there....LOL! Quote from Epicurus about 2000 years ago: "Death is nothing to us, since when we are, death has not come, and when death has come, we are not". Death begins the day we are born, it is a precondition for living. I can not concern my time in the here and now for what may be, I know an end will come, therefore I need to live today for what it is. This does not mean total anarchy or hedonistic activities, but enjoy everything all around, appreciate it, respect it and live in the moment. Enjoy this life! It is ours for the taking!
  5. I begin to decompose...content in the knowledge I led a good life to the best of my ability and left my mark on the world by raising morally correct, intelligent, kind children who will do the same as their Dad did. And the circle of life goes on...
  6. How is their hand holding any different from anyone else's? Do we need to put that much pressure on them, do we need to make everyone a hero on standby every hour of the day?
  7. No ambulance, not a field employee, and on a break...sounds like every other person in that shop as well...no? Why are you not outraged that all the other patrons/coworkers did not hold her hand or stroke her hair and say it will be ok? I disagree, you are not a cop or a paramedic every hour of the day...that kind of mentality kills ya young and leaves you with no life to enjoy. EMS is what we do, it is not who we are.
  8. I did do my google-fu research and I did not find anything independent of this organization stating who they are or what they are. All I saw was several of his own postings and a web page made by them. None of this explains WHY they are doing this. There has to be a reason and I suppose once you submit a LOT of personal info for this free ride in China, you may discover why.
  9. I think you need to provide a LOT more info. What's the catch...why? Your post has been edited until more information can be brought forth.
  10. Being that he is a dispatcher, maybe he should have stood on the other side of the wall where he could not see her, then talk to her via cell phone. That is his comfort zone...
  11. No ambulance Ruff. They were EMT/DISPATCHERS who were on break from the dispatch room in the same building/right next to it. They called for help.
  12. So what/where did you decide Ruff??? We all wanna know!!
  13. Hey Ruffles....Squint has a penis!! Therefore, one is to assume the "she" is actually a he. He is one ugly chick however,, I would know as I drank beers with him and even with beer goggles it never crossed my mind.
  14. Well go LOOK first on google then come back to us...do not just say you havent looked!!!
  15. Lone...you are making HUGE assumptions. Two different articles stating different wounds...one says in face, the other says twice in torso. No where does it state vigilante justice...you are drawing that conclusion. Maybe, this was simply the way he lived his life, in areas known for violence, drugs, etc and maybe this was a totally random event which happened to involve him. A person who grows up and lives in these environments, thugs, streets, whatever...could very well have the same personality of one who would step over a patient on the ground in a coffee shop. These two events quite possibly could not be related in the slightest, other than him missing the chance for his obituary to say Off Duty Hero EMT murdered last night...instead of the above articles which are negative. Live hard, die hard.
  16. Squint...I smell what ya steppin in but I think this ground has been covered in courts of law previously. With one of my former employers, we tested all the time. We did 100 randoms and we did post incident/accident testing as well. Every employee knew if they were injured, they would be tested once they were medically treated. So, it is their own fault should they test hot. However, anyone that tested hot, were immediately informed and they never lost sight of their urine sample. The process was they pee in the cup, they bring it in the room, they watch it get tested and they watch the results. They never leave it unattended. If it was positive, they were informed and then the safety or security rep who was in the hallway was to step in the room while the sample was sealed and secured. The sample after being sealed and signed by the donor, was then placed in a bag and documented by all again. Then the bag was placed in Fed Ex shipping container and again all sealed/witnessed. The sample was then sent to an independent laboratory for in depth analysis. IF the employee had any reasons for testing hot, he was then given the chance to explain his meds and yes the employer has a right to know at that point in time and the employee should be willing to say so if he values his job. Based on the employee's story and the lab results, a decision was then made in regards to employment. However, where I was doing the testing, no employees would be here if they were on any of those meds as they are a dis-qualifier before ever being hired. So if someone was hot, it was always accurate.
  17. What is amazing about those 4 things is this: There are two very large well established groups that will never wish to see the day when those 4 things are obtained. These two groups exist because those 4 things exist. With those 4 things, they remain in control of the masses, further their own agendas and power and propel their leaders into more power, fame and wealth. Those two groups are politicians and religion. Where there is fear, want, lack of freedom of speech/expression these groups will thrive. Where there is no choice to believe as one wants or NOT believe, they thrive on that as well because it creates more controversy when those that truly want it try to implement it.
  18. Where are you and who you work for? You can PM me... EMT B is available at several bases there and quite doable depending on who you work for...FYI.
  19. Yes, best advice is skip a wedding and have a very small informal gathering with closest friends or family. Take all the money saved and have a care free honeymoon or put it towards a house or car, things you really need for your married life together. Doesn't matter who is footing the bill, tell them you wish to be practical and put it towards things that will get you ahead financially. Top reason for divorce is financial issues... Good luck to you!
  20. Hang in there buddy...my most sincere condolences. Tears will flow when a loved one held so dear exits our lives; we will grieve, we will be sad and lonely as we should. In time, we will become strong again, never forgetting the one we lost bust respecting them and our self enough to carry on and live again. While the thought of such is incomprehensible now, the day will come. That person, Your Wife, will remain within you forever, that can never be changed or taken away regardless of your situation in the here and now. Stay strong my brother and know we are thinking of you.
  21. Make sure you watch till the end!
  22. I do agree...the delivery could have been performed better.
  23. Your boss is not a moron. You work in an industrial setting. OSHA rules are very strict and if you have not completed any of your OSHA courses (which I assume not or you would know) they are very clear in regards to employee training and the fact that it must be done by the company's designated representative and it has to be well documented as evidenced by the sign in sheets. There are HUGE fines with non-compliance. Plus, he is right. If you are not familiar with their equipment, it could be problematic in an emergency...it is possible.
  24. So was she being ventilated with room air...doesn't sound like it. If I ran out of oxygen, a good old fashion BVM will do the trick along with a D cylinder from your airway bag. This sounds like someone being extremely casual about a vent patient being moved from a nursing home and not being attentive when they should have. To "notice" a patient has died after you restart the system sounds way too hokey...
