  1. Don't typically have time while on shift, I work mainly urban and we're fairly busy. A lot more than some and less than others, depends on who we're compared to. Anyhow, as tired as we are and as much as we want to go upstairs and have a drink after a 14 hour night shift, sometimes it's nice to go for a run or do elliptical for 30 mins. Something HELPFUL after a shift. Having a drink can help to relax etc etc, its even better after even a 15 min run which I've recently been finding out ...
  2. Reasonable AND a little scary. Seems like people either love or hate the song. I happen to love it, however do hope that people don't take it to heart and act out, citing the song as their trigger. Kurt Cobain et al ... (liked him too, hated the Bitch although she was good live in concert in the 90's) ...
  3. I recall hearing about the meaning sometime after the song first came out. It's essentially about a kid who's tired of being bullied and decides to plot revenge. http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=22941
  4. Observant, not nitpicky. Squint is a friend of mine so if he says you're true, I believe that. I'm sorry to hear about your situation; I hope through your efforts you're able to find your way again.
  5. Interesting, AK ... One would hope that this isn't a scam, however I'm sure stranger things have happened ... I thought you said you never wore the vest?
  6. My bad, I read into it differently. Lack of sleep.
  7. Try wearing one during your next exam?
  8. Then why do they not honor our rights when we visit / live / work in THEIR countries? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's more on the original story ... http://www.edmontonj...9296/story.html Perfectly put.
  9. I read about this in the Edmonton Journal. My opinions on the story and some recent comments are: 1) Everyone has to "adapt" when moving to a different country. If North American women still need to wear a burka when visiting or working in certain overseas countries, then why not demand the same respect from women from those countries over here? 2) I completely agree with showing of the face when it comes to things like citizenship oaths, or passport photos. If I suddenly decided to become Muslim I'm certain that despite changing my passport photo, I'd still be required (for everyone's security) to show my face going through security/customs. 3) The RCMP are a CANADIAN organization. Sure the uniform has changed over the years but that is as a standard for the WHOLE, not just a few. 4) The reference to Muslims being 'oppressed' in North America = similar to holocaust? Are you shitting me? Really? I'm not much for our PM, but he certainly isn't a Muslim-hating Hitler trying to assassinate "them all". I think some comments were leading to "if we have to adapt over there, why can't they adapt over here?"
  10. Tit for tat ... If heterosexuals want to have a straight pride parade, let them. I would likely be at work so unable to participate and don't particularly feel the desire to tell everyone that I'm super proud to be straight. It's my business, I don't care to share what I do with the world. If one feels the desire to have a party or parade or whatever just to show how proud they are of who they are, who cares. Everything has potential to offend someone, no matter what it is. ... and that's before breakfast!
  11. Suppose I could put my two cents in here too Mine came from a late night conversation with a co-worker some years back while completely exhausted, about words we thought sounded amusing at the time. I simply changed the spelling ...
  12. There actually is such a thing?
  13. A simple comment after reading the thread ... If both parties are consenting adults, why the heck not? You can't please everyone when it comes to ANY marriage, but is it really about pleasing others? Nope.
  14. I think most of us are familiar with this one ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eYSpIz2FjU
  15. Perhaps so, but is it any worse than "arguing facts" as you called what you were doing like it's 3rd grade? Woof woof.
  16. Wow, this sounds so incredibly intelligent ... Don't think she's had any credibitlity since the hour after she joined the site ... She was probably laughing her ass off while she typed all the "woof woof" unintelligent BS.
  17. Again, it's a matter of you not liking/agreeing with what I had to say regarding the view I had on the thread. Don't like what I have to say or disagree with me? Skip over my post. And you chose to bring your attitude, so don't get your thong in a bunch when it's commented on
  18. Where's Aussiephil when we need him? I've got friends on both sides of Oz but to date, have yet to travel there myself. Within the next two years
  19. Remember that show Airline that was on A&E a couple years ago? 2c would have been that rowdy drunk passenger hauled off by security
  20. Having a bad day are we, Dwayne? You put a tablespoon of asshole in this soup. I addressed the post as I saw fit, and I won't apologize because your idea of an answer doesn't jive with what I said. The article stated the man was blind. The blind man has a seeing eye dog. Hmm ... Quoting this person in the article: "They refused to take a service animal who I need very much," said Graham, who suffered minor injuries. "He is my eyes." And as per the article, he was treated for very minor injuries, so he likely didn't spend much time in hospital. What's the big problem with having his service animal there? Not like the animal was getting in the way while he coded or went for surgery ... So, seeing as how his hospital visit wasn't for a major life threatening reason, what was the big deal with taking the animal?
  21. Prime example. Another prime example. Congrats on 3000 btw
  22. Haha! That looks disgusting! I recall once at hospital about 3 years back when a co-worker of mine walked up and stood right in front of me with a very blank look on their face. I said "what" ... She said "don't look now, but over at the registration desk" ... Ok ... So this girl stands up and walks with her chart past about 8 paramedics who "weren't looking either". She had an ass implant that burst when she fell off the stripper pole learning how to work the stripper pole. How BARBIE does one want to be? Yeesh ...
  23. As squint said, there are completely different rules of engagement. But thanks for your your ignorant comment regarding assumption of "everything is the same everywhere" Yup. Good on ya! You did the best thing for the patient, especially if the nurse wasn't able to or did not request and administer pain meds as per verbal orders by the doc.
  24. Squint, just don't put said beans in your ears. BTW, you missed a great dinner. (There were no beans)
  25. The dog in this case was not just a pet, or an animal that someone had registered so the owner didn't have to leave it in the car while they stuffed their face. Unfortunately there are those who abuse the system, such as that person. For those medics to want to just leave the dog there on the pavement was grossly inappropriate. The dog was the eyes for a human who's eyes didn't function. If it were me in that position, I most certainly would have taken the patient's "eyes" along with me, and taken the time myself to find another solution once at hospital. We've all taken passengers that came only because the patient "didn't want to be alone" or whatever the reason. Why not take the patient's lifeline?
