  1. Well, really the only way your question can be answered, is with your protocols. Mine won't help you. NH certainly didn't make these easy to find. http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/fstems/...protocolsV3.pdf Adult Child Algorithm
  2. I've grown quite fond of deadliest catch, and those Alaskan survival shows. I can't want for the one about oil (or maybe it was gas?) well drillers.. I also take to Hell's Kitchen, something about Gordon Ramsey belittling people, I just love that guy. In a totally non-gay way.
  3. As long as I remember my watch, the ambulance has everything else. It has it's own gloves, scope, penlights and tape. Why would I need to bring my own? If you run with or work for a BYOE ambulance, maybe it's time to find a new service. [spoil:59a52cd91f]BYOE = bring your own equipment[/spoil:59a52cd91f]
  4. Carry them my arse.. We're driving in, as long as it's not swamps or cliffs, we can drive over that sh*t!
  5. They usually tap their feet, and the snake responds to that and the movement of the charmer. The flute noise seems to me, to be just for show. I dunno.. I'm not an expert by any means, I just watch the history channel.. a lot.
  6. In ancient mythology and religion in India, they respect and fear the Cobra. The practice of charming it is also mythical, as snakes can't hear anyway. They're just reacting to movement, I guess seeing a snake do that is entertaining. Certainly not a sport for amateurs. They could remove the venom sac and glands, it's an option. However, that would prolly be a death sentence for the snake. Since the venom is not only used to subdue and kill prey, but break it down for digestion. I do NOT think that's okay. I wouldn't want to see someone killed by a snake, but, yanno.. It's not like they're walking in tall grass, and got bit by a scared and defensive snake. They're intimidating, dare I say playing with, and mentally torturing these snakes. An art or not, if they get harmed, it's their fault. Therefore, I don't think harming animals for the purpose of ones religion or culture is okay, I thought I'd get that out there.. I also don't believe in the harming of children via religious and cultural practices. An infant clearly cannot understand or elect to not practice such, therefore should not be subjected to it. But that's just my opinion, which isn't worth much.
  7. Well.. you could explain to, going out the top, by taking out the most seriously injured, first.. and not wanting to step on the other children. Or.. they could have been playing the "what if this happens, well, then we'll do it this way" game. Good way to practice. No comment on the macho pics for the press.
  8. How exactly is letting a baby play with a cobra, funny stuff?
  9. Depends on what kind of gear you need.. If I hear "bunker gear", I think structural firefighting gear. If you're not fighting structure fires, IMO, you don't need gear to do so. A good set of NFPA approved extrication gear (pants/coat) or (coveralls/jumpsuit) should be fine. However, the company provides an extrication suit/helmet/boots/goggles and extrication gloves for rescue and EMS personnel. I find full TOG difficult to work in, on the ambo; or while extricating someone. Could just be me..
  10. Go through the chapter, highlight the things you need to know, to answer the questions in your workbook. This should help you with the end of Chapter tests, for the class. I dunno what kind of book (brady/etc) that you use. Some have the first word in the paragraph that is important to remember, set in bold type. That should be a clue of what to begin to high light. You could also try to make a chart on large poster board. Write down specific things you need to know, or that you have trouble memorizing. Those are just some basic study techniques that help in any course of study. One of the nice things about EMS courses, albeit expensive, is that the books are yours to write in, etc.
  11. I read it; Hands Only.. Like wtf else would we use? I carry a means to provide ventilation, however, I would rather see the public focusing on good compressions, than giving breaths. Hell, I'd be amazed just to see proper CPR being done.

I guess I'm in the 2%. Dominica(n) (Republic); Northern Grey Wol(f), Fig Aside from the fact that it works on the multiples of nine with two digits. There aren't many countries that begin with the letter D; an animal that beings with a K, a fruit that begins with O. So, 98% of the population took the easiest, most simple, answers. 98% of the population were too lazy to apply thought.
  13. That's not even a word... But. Whatever. Microspectrophotometer
  14. Don't be a ******* ******* (I used *'s to be polite), Spleen. Call Points, so many points per call; adds up, at the end of X period of time, offer them something for the points. One local company does that, points equals X dollar amount. They don't get cash, but the company will use the cash equivalent to buy them whatever they want. Good way to get like something extra, that may not be necessary. Like if a fire dept. does it, the member may save the points till there is enough to buy a Leather Helmet, which is a big deal (they even have their own national clubs). They could buy jackets, etc.. Anything really, and it would be theirs, rather than service property. Or.. Take the equiv. of the points to cash, and give them gift certificates or gift cards. Also, maybe gas cards. Have them keep track of mileage to and from calls and on business for the crew, and give them so much per mile.
  15. You'll survive, prolly. Eat, drink, lay down, yada yada, etc..
  16. We already know that... But it's been several days. How are they doing now?
  17. We've peeled apart metal with pliers to avoid calling for a helicopter to bring in a surgeon. Something tells me that it wouldn't work the same as it does on TV. It's likely, if the patient was trapped long, that they would be exsanguinated.
  18. The hard ones to keep up with are the ones who are responsive enough to fight you, but are breathing so fast and so shallow that it's not productive. If you can talk to them, while you bag, esp the ones who are just hyperventilating, I think that helps to breathe with them. As long as they are getting oxygen, maintaining a sat that is acceptable, and you are holding a resuscitator; bag till they fight it; or you reach a goal.
