  1. We have a policy that forbids personalization of uniforms. We're Emergency Services, not the girl scouts.. You get a company patch, and the other patch has to be either EMS cert, DOH Rescue cert or a fire cert. No pins, etc.
  2. Several suppliers sell one piece extrication suits made of Nomex that are specifically for vehicle accidents, NFPA approved. I find it difficult to crawl around in my structural firefighting gear because of the bulk of it, and the stuff I'm required to use, and need to store on my person. A good pair of steel-toe boots, helmet, goggles, leather gloves (or vehicle extrication gloves), ear plugs and an extrication suit should be perfect for EMS use. Either W.S. Darley or Galls are good places to start; or try a local fire supply place. I couldn't find an EMS Supply place that has modern stuff with in a hundred miles, but I can think of eight fire dept. supply shops.
  3. Actually, in the past year, I've done more splinting than I did in the eight years that preceded that. Same old injuries, same mechanisms, different positions and more frequently. IMO, the elderly-in poor health population has gone up, and kids have became more stupid. No matter what the measure of care you're giving, no need to be wreckless about it, knots square, tails tucked.
  4. Overall, it's my favorite tool.. Even more than the chest full of splints. One of the services I run with, it's a fairly secluded area, and most calls are emergencies. Granted they still have their fair share of BS runs. Anyhoo.. I'd say one, or two a month is a fair estimate, at least one.
  5. Man, you're living in the past!... It's 1973....
  6. It has a list of websites.. To look it up.

  8. Really? It makes me dizzy, and I hear colors and see sound.
  9. IMO, it's easier to use Mouth to Mask w/ an O2 inlet.. But if my box were bigger, I'd add a BVM. What I need is a box like Squad 51 had!
  10. Dixie McCall... Julie London But I guess if you combine Dixie and London, you get Dixon.
  11. I think... It doesn't matter what I think. However, if I may make a suggestion? Step away from the crack pipe.
  12. Well, if you're looking to carry mass volume, try for one of the Thomas bags w/ the wheels and pull handle. Or just a regular travel duffel w/ wheels, keep several small bags inside.
  13. I find I rarely need any supplies. I bet it's been about nine years since I've used more than gloves and a CPR mask. That was only b/c a car wrecked into a pole right across the street from our driveway, and there were five patients. Two were hemorrhaging quite badly from head wounds. Unless you're providing a service, that you're getting paid for..and you will need all that stuff... (like Craft Service-First Aid/Set Medical/etc as your resume indicates) I'd go with a small box, maybe a Flambeau 1872 or 2072. No worries of fluids or bio stuff soiling plastic, at least not if you clean it off. They're a good size to hold a nice amount of first aid, CPR and vitals obtaining equipment. I'd sooner go with a box, than any type of fabric, even that antimicrobial fabric will wear and tear. Nix the splints, go with a couple unitized boxes of wire splints, or a flat packed SAM. Put the sun screen in your glove box, you won't need that for 99.999% of emergencies. Nix the cold packs, they can wait till the ambulance arrives, if they can't, start removing clothing. Bandaids... Keep like five, throw the rest in with the sun block.
  14. It would be easier for me to find an original NES system, than a pinball machine. I haven't even seen an arcade in prolly fifteen years. In fact, I'd prefer Nintendo.. I only played Mario games, on any system, all sorts of them. I think I had a racing game called "Driver" on Playstation.. After two TV's went bad, screens were green, I gave up.
  15. Take your own NasCan if you do, b/c they charge around $5.00 for one of their Nose-Hose Devices.
  16. So where do ya get it? It would prolly work good with my NuMask set.
  17. I was so confuddled, due to my rage over the lack of proper business practices at JEMS/Elsevier.. I became lost. Go back to your rock, Spleenhack.
  18. OMG! I I thought I replied.. But I guess I pressed report and typed in lolz.
  19. Actually, I was talking about this site.
  20. Another person who uses the chat room to seek mental health advice. I have no problem posting a link (which I in fact did) to direct you to help lines, etc.. However, all you -ever- want to do is profusely apologize for your past, discuss PTSD, cutting and suicides.. Just let it go already. The last thing I want to do every other day is chat with people about their mental health.. Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe that a chat room is the place to seek that kind of help. You cannot depend on the people in the chat room to provide you with the kind of help you need.. Judging simply on your past actions, from a dozen sites, I simply feel it's inappropriate to go through this every six months. I keep this link in my pre-defined messages box, in the chat room.. http://www.rainsnow.org/help_resources.htm
  21. Like a forum.. or a chat site with news and stuff of that sort.. Almost like a living, online community! Wow! That's a uber kewl concept! You should make a site like that!
  22. No, I'm still disappointed. I just wish I didn't have to call at the end of every month and ask why I haven't received my subscription yet.
