Muslim's promoting racism themselves ?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2011/12/12/f-muslim-headdress.html

Or Epic Fail in the understanding of immigration to countries that believe that hiding ones face is a sign of oppression ?

And just what part Sikhs misunderstand in reference to the term RCMP UNIFORM ?

cheers

Bored squint

Topic one I agree that if you are taking an oath that your face should be seen while doing so.

Topic two I dont agree with any culture changing the RCMP uniform. Now the running joke in the family right now is that my Haida son wants to join the RCMP so I am going to weave a traditional cedar hat and have it presented to him if he graduates. Im not thinking it will go well with upperups lol................

Is your son pure blood Haida or will he be wearing half a cedar hat ?

Do you have many Muslims living on your reserve maybe an Sikh RCMP wearing his headdress or maybe prayers 5 times a day from a loud speaker atop a Minaret ?

Bored No ... Tired of some groups forcing things down my throat and not accepting modern day Canadian culture and values as equals. This political correctness and inequality, I predict in less 20 years will be grounds for a civil disobedience.

wow, somme one got out of bed on the wrong side today.

maybe we should have muslims wear a badge or patch so it denotes them being muslim

or better still maybe we could mark them, say with a tattoo that shows they are muslim

then we could have them all live in the one area of the city so we could watch over them.............

while i agree that the PC brigade have gone too far in some cases, isnt the whole idea of equality what you are asking for.

a Seik wearing his head dress in uniform proves this point. the uniform is not MODERN DAY Canadian culture now is it?)

Becomming a canadian has nothing to with religion

then we could have them all live in the one area of the city so we could watch over them.............

Thats uncalled for

As a matter of fact yes it is Modern Day Canadian Culture, a good buddy just came out of Regina and is very proud of His RCMP uniform just the way it is.

I hope that these 2 suggestions are merely sarcasm, based on 1930s-1940s Nazi actions:

1) Jews shall wear armbands showing a yellow Star Of David.

2) Concentration Camp ID tatoos.

Actually they do chose just that .. they can chose to do that .. but do you believe for one minute that they believe that this is multiculturalism they are demanding prayer in schools that we read for yourself, but the Lords Prayer is no longer 'permitted"

http://www.sunnewsne...o/1080092985001

This last one the best .

Wow ?

I get out of the bed every day the same way, turning on the TV to hear more bullshit about the poor Muslims being persecuted but being damn thankful for lost family military members that fought and died liberating that group that were forced to wear badges or "tattooed" Do you believe that I think that is not a reference to the holocaust ? Please check the links this quote from the CBC news article:

Groups including the Jewish Defence League of Canada, the Canadian Hindu Advocacy and the Christian Heritage Group, are upset that a middle school in the city's north end has provided Muslim students cafeteria space for a weekly prayer service, saying the board showed favouritism to Islam.

This issue of Muslims in Canada being "forced" <GASP> to remove their facial coverings to swear an oath is anywhere near the holocaust, get real please and follow the links I provided, even the associated links of Muslim groups actually supporting taking oaths, or getting a drivers licence sans facial coverings.. is this the equality you refer ?

As for the Sikhs not Seiks (- 2 on the Dustdevil scale for spelling) wearing their cerimonial headdress is not proper as it is not Uniform (goggle the word) then you put your religion ahead of sworn duty. My son is 3 generation Canadian, no different than happiness my son is a Scot, if he became an RCMP would HE be allowed to wear a kilt with my ancestors colours ? carry a broad sword ? wear a sporn ? Is that not a double standard btw my lil sister was RCMP but could not voice her opinion because she was instructed to STFU !

This is a double standard IMHO its very clear from the edge of my bed, if one is entering the RCMP a para-military organization one MUST abide by the Oath of service not ones religion, if you don't like it be a mall cop.

So what next female RCMP officers that you can not see their faces when they stop you for a possible DUI, I mean where does this tolerance of religious freedom end ... You tell me ?

Happymerryhannuchristmafestivusnewyear. (the political correct seasons greetings now) :wtf:

I read about this in the Edmonton Journal. My opinions on the story and some recent comments are:

1) Everyone has to "adapt" when moving to a different country. If North American women still need to wear a burka when visiting or working in certain overseas countries, then why not demand the same respect from women from those countries over here?

2) I completely agree with showing of the face when it comes to things like citizenship oaths, or passport photos. If I suddenly decided to become Muslim I'm certain that despite changing my passport photo, I'd still be required (for everyone's security) to show my face going through security/customs.

3) The RCMP are a CANADIAN organization. Sure the uniform has changed over the years but that is as a standard for the WHOLE, not just a few.

4) The reference to Muslims being 'oppressed' in North America = similar to holocaust? Are you shitting me? Really? I'm not much for our PM, but he certainly isn't a Muslim-hating Hitler trying to assassinate "them all". I think some comments were leading to "if we have to adapt over there, why can't they adapt over here?"

yes it is Richard.....

I dont agree with all PC motions but everyone has the right to what they believe, problem with the examples given re Burka nas turban they are religious beliefs

same as Jewish people carrying out circumcision and Catholics having a baby 'baptised' when they are little......do we disagree with these practices.
