  1. Wow i thought we lived in a free country. I cant believe that people would get fired for a facebook picture thats amazing. With this day and age and all the things we can do with photos whos to say it is that particular person in the photo or the photo wasn't from a million years ago. I know there are things that could bite me in the ass out there but what the hell we all have done things that are wrong and we know they are wrong. To those who are perfect good for you, you are the only ones worth while being the professionals.
  2. Okay I to am gong play devils advocate in this one. I have read all the respones and this is what I have come up with. First a combative pt regardless of the reason for it is a potential danger to the paramedics and those around him. One of the first things I was taught was my scene assesment if I don't feel safe I don't touch the pt. Using the heli for transport with a combative pt is a no no in any situation the doors are so sensitive and the since the pt is placed by a door all it would take is a push on the door and then shit will hit the fan. The presence of an off duty award winning paramedic. This guy may be great as a paramedic but maybe he should think about how he would feel if it was his call and some other off duty award winning paramedic showed up. Personally I have had off duty ALS visiting here show up on a few scenes and when they ask can I help you Im all over it, the more the merrier. They are stateing that they didn't do any spinal percautions. So you have a combative pt how are you going to get that collar on let alone get him on the board and strap him down. I don't agree with the family taking him to the ambulance and putting him on the streacher but I guess you do what ever you can do. Now personally I don't think these paramedics did a great job on this call and I don't know what their level of training is but when you are dealing with the media you have to sometimes read between the lines. I do think that if the allagations are true they should be fired and their licenses removed.
  3. I personally think that our ethics as a society has gone to crap. its to bad that the american people will be raising these kids by means of taxpayers money. The other sad thing is that they will raised in the media world. Wonder how much she was paid to do the interview in the first place. Maybe this woman thought that she would be able to have a weekly show like jon and kate + 8. One of the news shows did a poll to see if the public would want to watch more about this family and the polls showed 1% would like to and 99% said no they don't care. In Calgary a woman of the age of 60 just gave birth. She had to go to India i think to have this proceedure done, so it goes to show you that if you really want something you can make it happen ethical or not. Now they are talking about taking the kids into social services well i think they should drop them off at the stupid dr that did the proceedure and let him take care of them for the rest of their lives, it may not have been his sperm but he sure took part in the whole spectical.
  4. Has anyone noticed terri didn't say who she was sending to that sponge bath (wonder if phil will ever tell us) Any who perv hope you get well soon and you should remember your a paramedic not a contractor, let this be a lesson to ya don't do things your not trained for. I have a new sit com story line called My Favorite Perv staring Phil. I let you know how it does. :sign2:
  5. Okay I guess my question to those who are stating that they can refuse and the pilots can refuse in the cases of bad weather, then why are so many accidents going on. Is there maybe a loop hole in the system then
  6. I would like to correct rock_shoes on the crash that occured in BC. I was not a paramedic at the time but I was on one of the boats dispatched for the search of the plane (not heli). First the weather was extreamly bad that evening and the crew that was waiting for the plane couldn't believe that the plane would actualy fly in that weather (I have seen them come in myself in wind that is rocking the ambulance). They did see the plane do its fly by the airport and then nothing ever landed. Now when I am dispatched for a medivac and the weather is extreme or the fog has settled to a low ceiling I will first call the airport to see what they are saying and then let my dispatch know, weather conditions as they change here in seconds. I do this as a result of that crash. From my understanding and from talking to other pilots one of the factors in this crash was that the pilot didn't have alot of experience and that he had not manualy change the altimater thingy as he passed over sandspit (remember im not a pilot) and there for thought he was higher in the air than he really was, then hit the ocean. There were two bodies I think that were recovered from the crash and it was determined that they had survived the crash but then died from drowing and or hypothermia. The plane is still at the bottom of the ocean with some of the bodies remaining. There are two memorial plaques dedicated to this crash and they are both situated at our new hospital and I will post a picture of them in the gallary in the next few days. The end result of this crash was that our community for months and maybe up to a year did not have any medivacs during night time until it was discovered that the most likely reason for the crash was pilot error. Even to this day there are people on crews that knew the guys and gals on the plane and when they come here they do feel creepy and don't like to fly into here. This plane was comming here to pick up a mother and a new born. I don't know what the medical problem was but I guess it was bad enough to warrent a flight. The other thing is that paramedics and pilots can refuse to do the flights without feeling that they will get fired. So maybe in the states they should make sure that the same rights are there for their people. It is a sad time when the all mighty buck comes before the saftey of a countries citizens.
  7. those last smileys are just creeping me out boy toy. FYI I voted ?????????????????????????????????? but I did vote :D/
  8. Before you brag to much crotch one of the case studies was male :D/
  9. Sorry Dust that the avatar is working i will get right on that. I going to assume that this thread is in a sexual manner. I have been in a very uncomfortable situation with a male straight dr. when i was 20. I was always taught by my mother that it is very important to get pap test on a regular basis once a year. So being the good daughter that i am off i went to the drs office. In the middle of appointment me bare ass to the breeze the dr left the office for 15 min or longer. After a few minutes i became very uncomfortable and out came the shoe horn (boy to be able to bend like that again), and I got dressed. When I again saw the dr it wasn't pleasant for him. For all I know he could have been in a room with a peep hole taking pics or what ever. Needless to say now when I have this lovely proceedure the first thing I say to the Dr. is that i am imagining a target in the middle of your forhead so get this done as fast as possible. Now all that statement does is demonstrate a uncompfortable situation and if I would become uncompfortable with anyone who is gay or hitting on me I would talk it out and if that didn't work just like 20 years ago BAM. FYI you dont want to ever be my gyno dr. I just don't have issues with gay people and to tell you the truth i dont have good gaydare to begin with Happy
  10. Ok time to make a comment. I have always been a firm believer that every child is different. There are those kids as soon as you say no they listen unfortunatly I didn't get one. I have 3 boys and I had to be creative for each of them when it came to punishment. One thing that i always did was give my kids a choice for there punishment to be grounded or a spanking. Surprise they picked the spanking every single time. One thing about kids is they want what ever punishment they recieve to be swift and done with. I also had rules about the spanking and one thing is that I would never speak or use anything other than my hand to do the deed. I believe that there is a big difference between disapline and abuse. As for the Teddy Bear gone gone gone. Happy
  11. You know I just had to wait to comment on this thread. So first of all in my small community gays are very much apart of our lives. Now to be honest the ones in the medical professions are female but gay none the less. My favorite Doc is a lesbian, one of my partners is a lesbian, the community health nurse is a lesbian and i could probably go on and find more but to me if they do there job and make me feel comfortable then wtf. And the gay guy in town is about 6ft 6 and can beat the crap out of anyone in town and has so in reality im not thinking he has any problems.
  12. What do you get a wacker for his birthday. happy bd happy
  13. This is actually funny to me as the same day i watched this and read all the comments of driving to the conditions off i went to go the grocery store and as i was going approx 10 km around a corner low and behold don't do little spin. I was driving to the conditions and yet it still happened guess there are just those days that no matter how hard you try something is just going to happen whether you want it to or not.
  14. well as a bc paramedic i wil al try and get this link out in the communities on the queen charlottes.
  15. I see stupid people, I work with stupid people, I married a stupid person so in reality who is the stupid person Quoted by Happiness
  16. I would like to point out it was a guy that mentioned the flowers not a girl. And your right lone there is alot of unequality in the relationship world but I have to say its equal on both sides.
  17. i know what you mean Ruff The biggest test of your life is the marriage test and people think medic tests are hard. A good friend always said "Everything works out in the end, If it isn't worked out its not the end"
  18. So if Adolf Hitler was the name of a great man would this discussion even be going on. We pick names for our children because we like them for what ever reason. These names will most likely cause these kids grief through out there life and that is a sad thing. I truely wouldn't like anyone telling me what to name my kids. There has to be other reasons that the kids were taken away. If not all I can see is one big law suite and then you will have another version of the Beverly Hillbillies.
  19. WOW im pretty much speechless on the fact they would even try to punish these kids the embarassment alone may do that on its own. Someone somewhere want alittle attention and Im not thinking its the kids they have had enough. Some people really need to learn how to think outsid the box and let alittle common sense in. :?
