  1. Does it really make a difference if this guy was an EMT or paramedic? If he did it, he is a thief - if not, he is a victim. It always amazes me how we expect our segment of the working world to be squeaky clean, and are (some of us) really fast at condemning someone who has allegedly done something wrong.
  2. You trying to tell me that there are women who can't?
  3. Nah - Its kinda like having a bearskin rug that can cook! (with apologies to our beautiful Alberta ladies)
  4. Cute! I'd memorize the whole number to get HER as a partner!
  5. Great pics, Dust! Not quite good enough to make me want to contact my travel agent, but I'm glad you are getting to hob-knob with the upper echelons. I don't think I'd try to commemorate the moment for "posterior", though! Looking forward to more pics, when you get time. Thanks, and stay safe!
  6. Way to go, Canada and USA. Now it is time to creat a sport that the Ozzies and Canucks can compete head to head at (other than per capita beer consumption)- maybe we could call it Hocket or Crickey! We could play it on ice over three weeks, with breaks for tea and vegemite, and the world's beer markets would never recover!
  7. It was TENSE! I've seen us lose too often in shootouts to say that I truly enjoy them, but they certainly are excellent at finishing a game with everyone on the edge of their seats. The Americans played an incredible game, and I would have preferred to see that game in the final. One question after that game, aimed especially at Phil and Oz, and their compatriots - any OT or shootouts in cricket? Go Canada! (and US in Bronze medal game)
  8. Nice! And I thought girls were into stocking stuffers! Now I know different!
  9. Vagenda (n): a gynecologist's day planner
  10. LOL - This gets my vote for the "Best New Word of the Year"
  11. And while we are at it, let's get the OR nurse to do that appendictomy because the surgeon is too busy or involved to do it himself. If this is in your comfort zone as BLS, go for it, but you would not catch me dead going beyond scope in something of this magnitude.
  12. Interesting - the PNJ newsfeed now has an article explaining how Fire wants to completely take over the EMS service in the area. I guess they have had enough of EMS butting into "their territory"
  13. Ha- nice to know I'm not alone! This has been happening to me for years, both on the EMS and Fire sides. No scanner, just a pager, so it would be hard to say that there is any subliminal listening to signals. I know a few people like this - I'm sure there are many more!
  14. What losers! Stupidity is supposed to keep us employed, not be an employment requirement. It would appear that none of them have seen enough trauma to learn that hitching rides on moving vehicles, especially at that speed, is extremely dangerous. Of course, maybe a face full of bumper would improve their common sense.....
  15. Gee - that's purty! I think I want one.
  16. Drunken snowballs in the AM, then Snowgolf in the PM. I'll even set up the course and supply half the beer! There is something really special about drinking cold beer when the ambient temperature is minus 25C - no wonder Canucks excell at extreme retarded sports. We fall asleep in cricket, though I wonder what snow-cricket would be like... - we'd probably lose the ball in the first five minutes, and I'd have to buy even MORE beer!
  17. Very Interesting - In two previous lives I was killed by: Vatican Officials Emperor Nero I also seem to have crashed a Nimrod somewhere, and got killed by the ground!
  18. Some people don't wear seatbelts, because they have heard about someone somewhere in the world who drowned because they were wearing a seatbelt. Some people don't buy insurance, because they think that nothing is ever going to happen to them and the premiums are wasted money. Some people say flu shots are over-priced and unnecessary. Intelligent choices? Not for me to say, but yes, I buckle up, I pay my premiums, and yes, I get my flu shot. We are in the business of being exposed to sick people. These sick people can be passing lovely micro-organisms to us, or we can be passing those critters to them. It only makes sense to me to take advantage of any possible "insurance" that is available to minimize possible problems. Is it always going to work? Maybe not. Is it always going to be a pleasant experience? Probably not. Make your own choices - I know I have.
  19. Interesting study. CHP. It is hard to get away from the (obviously incorrect) idea that the more lights we throw at them, the more likely people are to stop / stay away. We have all seen situations where people get confused by the multiple colours and"unusual" parking situations often seen at MVCs and fires. Maybe simple IS better!
  20. Document, document, document! In our local volunteer service, which is very much like the one mentioned above, we do a PCR every time there is patient contact, regardless of the other services are there. The most obvious reason for this is the liability issue - keeping track of what was done, what was not done, vitals, etc, can protect us if there is an issue. Even if a PCR was not needed or done, I like to keep a brief journal entry describing the scene and actions taken. This works to jog memories if there are ever any questions or issues.
  21. LOL, Hammer - I was wondering why a thread would be calling root vegetables too!
  22. Of course it was not a popularity contest - it couldn't be, because he told us it wasn't! BTW, I would bet that over half the kids in Canada could tell you it was George Washington. Hell, thanks to American media, half of them would say he was the first prime minister of Canada!
  23. Thanks, Rid, for that last post. I have watched with dismay as intelligent, experienced, and educated people have been abused by someone who may know "stuff" but is so bound up in his anger and animosity that he can't see any other side to the situation. There is no doubt that he will not come around, and as a result I wish that this thread would be locked - there is NO further value in the debate, as all has been said that could possibly be said. The forums are to educate, illuminate, and entertain us. If we want Ultimate Fighting, we can tune that in on our television sets. Firefighter - let it go, please!
