  1. I continue my trend to be "on top" about once every 26 pages - Only when it really counts!
  2. okay - I officially surrender, cave in, and throw in the towel. A million pages later who will have any idea who was on top when the thread was locked? It WAS fun, though
  3. Gawd - does NOBODY have anything better to do?
  4. hah- I think admin must be on holidays - Can't think of any other reason a thread with this little social or professional value is still available. Thirty-two pages of King of the Castle? Pulleeeeze! Besides - now I'm on top!
  5. nah - you just were just on top, but now I am!
  6. Now for a new twist - Called "The Person On Top of Me.... The person on top of me is not as sweet and innocent as you think
  7. Could be bad to be in the middle of a "girl fight"!... But I AM on top!
  8. It is my turn agai n n n n n !
  9. up, up and away...in my beautiful balloon
  10. Hah - even the great Chuck would not stand a chance if those two wanted to get to you - pieces of dismembered protoplasm would be raining in all directions! RUN. PRPG!
  11. Now it's me - A fame is such a fleeting thing!
  12. Was anybody watching? - I know it was before 14:00 MST,because when I checked it was already at 8001. Well ahead of schedule, anyway. Admin - have you come up with a prize yet, like modhood, or a Dickie Dee ice-cream sandwich?
  13. OOPS! Sorry about that - I can count, just can't see! Make that 8000.

    Pool?

Emtcity is 95 members away from 7000. It would be kinda cool to have a pool to guess date and time of the 7000th member. Any ideas for what the stakes would be, and so on? I think it would be kinda like The Price Is Right - closest to the right date/time without going over. We might have to enlist admin to get the actual time, and to be the judge, How about it, Boss? If you have any ideas about what the winner would get, or a guess - post it here.
  15. YIKES! - Does that come in Ladies' sizes too?
  16. If you think stations have ghosts, you should come and hang around my school late at night - Children's voices, light footsteps, and strange little events are normal - interesting, but not at all scary. We do, however, have teachers who refuse to be here alone after hours because they find it is too unsettling. Imagination? Could be, but there are some pretty consistent stories. Hmmmm
  17. Superhero boots - That's it! Rocketwanker EMS to the rescue - Not quite sure about the skintight costume that would go with it - no room for tape and scissors.
  18. Northwestern Alberta here - The heart of the oilfields - whoop-de-do!
  19. I can't imagine any kind of exam that is simply pass/fail with no information on the reasons for failure. If he appeals it there should be some information forthcoming, and if there is not, taking the course from a different school sounds like a good plan. Good luck to your friend on this. North
  20. A question for those who are involved more with the industrial side of EMS The oilfield side of EMS is one of those jobs that usually involves long periods of boredom and inactivity, interspersed with infrequents burst of "all **** breaking loose". I have met many medics on scene who have not had an active emergency in months or more, and even some who have never in their careers had anything more emergent than applying a bandaid or dispensing Tylenol. My question is - how do you keep yourself sharp and ready for those infrequent situations in which your skills and knowledge are so important? I run drills and scenarios with the crews if the consultant is cooperative, and volunteer as an MCR during my days off, but I know that I could use more practice, even at that. Got any tricks or routines that might help, not just for me, but also for many of those who have rarely or never used their training?
  21. Is there a limit to how many nested quotes can be used on this site? I'm not recommending that we try.......just curious!
  22. I have the solution to this problem! It is called a bazooka, and can be purchased in the public market of almost any third world country. Blow the buggers right off the road - if they survive they will have learned a valuable lesson. The problems we have are not just related to deafness. Blindness and stupidity are also issues. The average driver checks his/her mirror about once every 6 mins or so if not changing lanes. I would love to see HUGE fines for those we miss with the launcher.
  23. The world is full of people who take advantage of the system. That does not mean that the system is flawed - it means that our society and human nature are. If the question is "what can we do about it?", the answer is quite clear. Nothing! The social safety net is there for people who deserve it. Tightening it up will simply squeeze out those who need and deserve the services. The twelve children of the fat, lazy, and opportunistic mother are not to blame - they still deserve to be treated with skill and dignity. Where do you draw the line to decide who is worthy? Once you start drawing lines in the sand you will find that nobody is happy with where it is, and the discussion will still be there, and just as acrid. Who do we deny treatment to? Who do we deny transport to? Yes, it upsets me still to know there are parasites in our system. It is a human nature issue, not a racial one.
  24. I agree with Dust (again!) - It is kinda like going into the woods when there are bears around - make lots of noise, get lots of attention, and give the critters an opportunity to be somewhere else when you get there. This covers most scenes where there is a human danger. The rest of the time its the old "rule of thumb". Cops, FD, and DOT hazmat can take care of things way better if you are well back until the scene is safe.
