      I'm in occupational medicine as well. I work on construction sites as a medic

      do you get many first aid calls at work? I do anywhere from 1 to 4 first aid calls in a 4 day period. Most of the time it is for minor wounds or pains. Once and while I will get trauma or medical call underground or on surface that requires transport to town.

      we generally will see 3-4 people a week for actual injuries or illness. mostly we have people coming in for tylenol for headaches and stuff. We have a bunch of different OTC meds we can dispense as well as our usual stuff as medics

  3. Being only 10 minutes from either station that I work out of now is sooo AWESOME!! No more having to get up two hours before my shift starts.

  4. Best thing about watching the Grey Cup yesterday was seeing the guy get his leg broken! Next time Riders, Next Time :(

      I really don't like Anthony Calvillo! Although it could have been worse... I'm glad it wasn't BC! I don't like Wally either....

  5. Don't forget to unplug the ambulance before leaving the bay or else you will show up on scene with the extension cord hanging off the side of the ambulance! OOPS!!!

      I think all of us who work out of stations have been there at least once or twice... or three times *blush* :P

  6. Finally my computer is fixed at work! Now I can kill time by checking out emtcity again :)

  8. How come some people feel they are better and know it all when it comes to being a paramedic? Did their mom not teach them to treat other with respect!

      one thing I learned even before taking my PCP program and working as a OFA level attnedant is that things in the real world are always different than how they were in class.

  9. I did my King LT and NPA course on my last days off and really enjoyed the course. Now just waiting for my new license to arrive in the mail with my new edorsments added on.

  10. I had a great 14 hour night shift with a GREAT trauma call, SOB call, and a couple psychiatric calls. All in a nights work!

  11. Last day shift at the mine site and I am looking forward to working on car and doing some calls on Thursday night and Friday night!

  12. looking forward to going home in less than three hours and seeing the wife and kids. It has been a long four days away from home.

  13. Looking forward to the new skill I get to learn and is going to benefit my patient.

  14. Love being able to listen to a scanner at work. Seattle, Los Vegas, and Oklahoma are all busy tonight!

      no worries lone star. I did not explain it very well on the original post. Yes you would think it would have been flat as a pancake, but NO he is very lucky, turned out he suffered a small chip on a bone and now some very severe swelling. Lucky SOB!!
