  1. Dumb question: Does it matter if the breasts are fake or not? Is there a jiggle factor?
  2. Not to spiral too far of the topic.... Has anyone used this before? Spanish for EMS
  3. I can see how this is a beautiful thing for when you come across patients who do not speak english. However, can I ask if it just makes things harder for you when your partner struggles with english? Are you bilingual? I guess I just see it as something that might bring undue frustration if a partner knows very little english in a field that demands clarity for patient care. I know I am being naive....lol It's part of my charm
  4. How is it that they are then able to give any patient information to the hospital without causing a great deal of confusion?
  5. No... I am NOT am EMT or Medic (yet). I do not know the price of the (any) equiptment, and felt it was okay to ask the question. * edited to add: it is an option in the above poll. Uh yeah, its not gonna happen at that price anyway. lol I didnt even think they would be over $500 just looking at pics of them here and there. Wow, was I wrong..lol
  6. I do a lot of digging on here to try and find different things to learn about. As a newbie, I thought this was a fun string to read. I would have never thought about trying to find this specifically, so it was a nice surprise.
  7. This is not something you buy as your own equiptment such as a stethoscope? The ambulance company provides them for each ambulance?
  8. I am having problems with my signature. No matter what I put, it says there is an error. Can you help me fix the problem. Thank you. Lisa

  9. I am really after the cake. *hands the ice cream cone back* 'You can have the other side' hehehehe
  10. Medic2588 has no profile comments yet. Why not say hello?

    Okay... Hello! :)

  11. Oh thats nice... My comment came out not once, but twice! Then on my own page. Lovely..lol

  12. Bwhahahahaha I am way too close to Berzerkely, so that one hits nice and close to home!
  13. If you want my attention, try bleeding. That is my absolute favorite, and it will be my first shirt once I am certified.
  14. Thank you guys for taking the time to share with me. I appreciate it very much. Things always pop in my head when I drive the kids to and from school, and this was one of them from today My neighbor used to be an EMT about 15+ years ago, and misses it very much. When we were talking about my classes I told her she should go for it. She looked down and said she wishes she could, but that its just 'not a mommy type of job'. It struck me as odd, but just took it as its not her thing anymore.
  15. You're absolutly right. I went way too far back in looking for more info on this story. I saw the video of when he was arrested out of his ambulance. My apologies for getting things mixed up
  16. Comcast.net news: "Officials feared thousands — perhaps more than 100,000 — may have perished but there was no firm count." This is horrible. This is going to take years and years to recover from.
  17. I was wondering how the mothers (or fathers) in here handle the demands of work / school / and having a family? I have a few questions to ask. How old were your kids when you started your EMS career? Did it get easier as they got older? How supportive is your significant other? Are they in EMS? Do your children hold any resentment towards your long hours / missed holidays or do they understand / think it's cool? I know it will all fall into place. But I will not close my eyes to the fact that it will probably be a rocky start. My kids have had me home for the last year and a half, my husband being the sole provider for the family now. Prior to that, I worked in a 9-5 office job M-F. I was close to their schools, and my boss had no problems when I had to leave for something important. I have a great family unit that can and will step in for me to help with the kids when the time comes. I am hoping that I am doing this at a better time in my life. One child is soon to be 13, the other 10. I will have teenagers by the time I am done with all my schooling. I just wanted to hear how others do it. I know its possible. They will be out of the house (crossing fingers) and starting their paths as I am getting into my prime in EMS. On paper, it seems perfect...lol
  18. I think that the tragedy of this entire situation was the patient, and what she had to deal with. It was beyond unfair, and wrong that the cop could not have followed the ambulance to the hospital to do what he needed to do. Right or wrong, everyone involved should have had that patient as priority one. She did not need to witness a throw down between a LEO and the Paramedic trying to provide her with care. If the Paramedic was at fault, it could have been dealt with after she was at the hospital. Maybe that is just too simple, and I am not seeing the bigger picture. But, when I heard that poor woman screaming during the exchange, that pissed me off.
  19. It is / was easy for me. I have no shame in approaching people..lol I seek out people, and become a friend on whatever level I can. I have a handful of people now that I can turn to off the computer that work in all different aspects of EMS. I have spoken to about a dozen teachers and students from all of the EMT / Paramedic schools within 80 miles of me. Picked some info there, some here, and started forging my own path. On here, I go through post after post and pick something I want to learn about, and find that. I have read stuff from last year, and pick something new up daily. Throw yourself out there, you will never know till you try.
