  1. not to get off the subject, but when I started intubating people 14 years ago, your average person who dropped from a cardiac was 70 kilos and they had a normal airway. Now when I do tubes in Detroit- the folks are around 300 pounds more with the necks the size of one of my thighs. EMS has to address this and teach accordingly. Be safe.
  2. piece of cake. you climb up tree- you need a rope 2 ropes actually. get to pt make a ranger seat for pt and attach, next get a strong branch above pt, put rope around it attach carabiner. tread rope through carabiner attach to pt ranger seat. lower to ground. if c-spine use stokes basket. did this when pilots that punched out landed in trees.
  3. I did a stand by with Canadian and German paramedics. When they explained their training and or equipement/drug protolcols- They seem to have been better trained and allowed to do more than USA medics. Am I suffering from CRI (cranial rectal inversion) or is this true? Be safe.
  4. Greetings-believe none of what you hear-and only half of what you see.
  5. IE dont take my blogging personnel. Be safe. I dont care if you insult me, just pay me on time.
  6. here in Michigan that is good pay for basics, Detroit EMS pays 12.00 a hour, but if you go to Flint MI, thay only pay their medics 9.50 a hour. Be safe.
  7. So is this good or bad? whats your opinion? I dont think they will cross intubation off the list of Things to do before reaching the Hospital?
  8. could be a electrolyte problem low potassium.
  9. I cant remember what episode it was, but where I live they show Emergency at 0900 and 1500. Many of the episodes still make you think about what to do? I watch it on Retro TV. At first when I started watching the re runs I thought How stupid they are still showing this stuff, but except for some of the Medical TX, alot of the episodes still apply to today. Some things change, but alot stays the same. Be safe.
  10. I was watching a old Squad 51 (Emergency), and they put mast pants on a patient for unstable BP with hip trauma. In Michigan we dont carry them any more. anyone still carry them/ have it in your protocols. Just wondering?
  11. RIP- I read Band of Brothers, damn good book.
  12. I currently live in MI- i agree with what Lone Star had to say. Plus alot of the AMR medics in our araea were lazy.
  13. The first time I took ACLS in the military, they gave me the book- I read the whole thing- then totally bombed during the practical. I did not know when they said study, they ment the strips/drugs/algorhytms. I took it pretty hard. So ease up on yourself. Also when I was a anesthesia tech I was supposed to start 16 G angicaths on every one in pre-op, I kinda hid for about two weeks because back then I knew just enought to be dangerous. Until one of the doctors grabbed me , pulled me over to pre-op and pointed at 3 patents-and said I want 16 g at least in every one of these pts. Ahh remembering good times.? Good luck Cheers.
  14. Tell that to all the dead soldiers in Iraq. IE sent by our last Republican President.

  21. Anyone ever use tapping on patients chest to ?use joules? energy transfered to heart to keep somneone alive until pacing arrives? On brady pt that are circling the drain.? when nothing else drugs/your pacer not workin wont capture.?
  22. I am taking my NREMT-P in two months-how were the questions?
  23. Here is my 2 cents, I spent 11 years in the NAVY.( WHICH MEANS NEVER AGAIN VOLUNTEER YOURSELF.) lAST 9 MONTHS WAS Corpsman with the Marines. Before my time in North Carolina, i flew 2 years hueys as SAR DOC with HC-16 pesacola Florida. I have been a medic for 14 years and I regret never getting my FFI&2- PAY ATTENTION- LISTEN TO ME AND THIS IS NO S###. aS A FIRE MEDIC you will be able to apply to lots more jobs and areas. Private EMS is a good job, but just like anywhere, there are good jobs and bad jobs- alot more doors will open if you have FIREFIGHTING also. Also get NREMT also. Learn threw other peoples mistakes. IE My screwups- I am now 47- I might go to Fire training, I will be the one running with the AED strapped to my Back. Like we used to say in the Persian Gulf- look on the bright side-there isnt one. HA HA. Semper Fi- The Marines are looking for a few good men-NAVY Corpsman. Ha HA HA. Be Safe. Cheers. So others may live-You Cry-we Fly. Sorry i am babbling again. I have PTSS-or snorted to much nearve agent in war. (90-91) Gulf Vet.
