  1. The wheels on the bus go round and round...lol
  2. Quick someone call 911 (or whoever performs cpr on animals) and PD...I think a dead horse has been beaten lol
  3. That reminds me of a license plate frame that I saw a while back and had to read about 5 times before I understood it: emm eye see kay eee why emm ohh you ess see m-i-c-k-e-y...m-o-u-s-e...Mickey Mouse lol...I guess me not getting it at first stems from not going to Disneyland as a kid!
  4. These are the ones where you get called non-lights and sirens for an interfacility transport and the notes that come across the pager are, "Stable per facility." Stable per facility my a$$ lol!
  5. That was awesome!!!!!! If you keep clicking after you launch a hamster he will flap his arms and eventually reach space...then you can let him spiral down out of control and leave a hole in the ground!!!! It doesn't look like any hamsters were harmed in this game though lol
  6. Only problem I had with them in the small of my back was snagging them on the back of a folding chair I was sitting in when I stood up and ripping the back beltloop on my pants! Keep them on the side now lol. I've been able to use them on motocross suits and boots, streetbike leathers, race car firesuits, and most recently one of the protective vests worn by bullriders without any difficulty. Definitely worth the investment. They work good for breaking bags of ice into smaller pieces to fit in a cooler for drinks on a hot day too!
  7. Saying something like "oops!" or "oh crap!" lol
  8. This sounds like it belongs in the "box of condoms" thread lol
  9. NPAs work wonders on the "unconscious" ones lol...gotta secure that airway!!!!!
  10. *Unofficially* we have code yellow and code brown...for certain patient bodily functions and their respective colors lol
  11. It's even more fun when you *do* find them lol. Arrive on scene and see a guy matching the patient description from the call walking out of a restroom to his waiting wife after washing his hands. Told him, "Sir, you look pretty good for someone who is unconscious and not breathing."
  12. About a week and a half ago I was part of a number of standby crews our company had at the National Finals Rodeo when one of the university police officers runs up to us and said "one of the female parking lot attendants just got hit in the north lot." My partner and I respond and I radio first aid (where our "dispatch" for the event was) advising we're on our way to a possible auto-ped in the north lot. We're hauling ass across the property and arrive at the north lot entrance where there's a small group of university police officers with a lady in a reflective neon vest sitting in a chair with a bloody lip. Per one of the officers: "This is Mary (name changed to protect the innocent lol). She was working traffic control in the north lot when she was punched in the face by a man who got out of his car." I guess *technically* she *was* hit in the north lot...
  13. I felt the same watching the show Emergency! when it came out on dvd this year. I remember seeing it as a kid and was excited when it was released. Seeing how they needed medical direction to start ivs and didn't use a c-collar on a car accident patient until almost halfway through the second season of the show gave both an interesting and amusing perspective when it comes to prehospital care then and now.
  14. Picked up a psych patient who said he had a computer chip in his head. He was not very cooperative and wouldn't answer any questions...and said the only way we would get any info from him was to plug him into a computer. When the nurse at the ER asked for the patient's info I asked her if she had a USB cable...
  15. A box of condoms, duct tape, and a dozen powdered donuts...
  16. Can you imagine the therapy bills for all the kids if you ran on a Santa that coded in a shopping mall????!!!!! *insert similar warning/disclaimer to the one in the original post here*
  17. I've ran on some pretty bad accidents at one of the local motocross tracks here. I had a 15 year old kid that was paralyzed from the neck down after a crash and had to be flown out. We frequent that track and about 7 months after I ran into the kid and his dad. They were at the track revisiting the scene of the accident. The kid was in a wheelchair but had regained use of his arms (he had multiple c3 and c4 fractures but his spinal cord was intact!). He had an amazingly upbeat and positive attitude and told me how determined he was to walk again and how he couldn't wait to go riding. The kid's dad shook my hand, gave me a hug, and thanked me for taking care of his son. It just takes one genuine "thank you"...and all the seemingly b.s. calls and unappreciative patients that curse and spit at you don't really matter in the big picture.
  18. When working on Halloween in California (before I moved to Las Vegas) I walked into station at the start of my shift wearing a c-collar and a KED saying, "Trick or treat! I'm a trauma patient!"
  19. "Operator! Give me the number for 911!" ~Homer Simpson
  20. The defibrillate me Elmo goes right along with the current TMX Extreme Elmo (which looks like it's seizing btw lol!) and could start a new trend of medical Elmos. Next Christmas we'll have Car Accident Elmo complete with c-collar!
  21. People always ask me why I carry 2 pairs of shears...finally someone who understands!!!!!
  22. I had a lot of falls at the one I worked last year...people running into things and each other. Watch for the occasional pile up outside the exits as bunches of people come running out screaming...just takes one to trip lol
