Blue Star book

Greetings! My name is Robert. I am a paramedic in Tulsa Ok. and I have written a book that is now available on Amazon. Here is an excerpt:

“Who is it?” squeaked a voice from the other side of the door.

“Paramedics” Will replied in a reassuring tone.

They could hear a bolt being drawn back then a chain strike wood. The door opened with a creak and a girl with long brown hair matted with blood stuck out her head. She looked relieved when she saw their uniforms, then quickly glanced down the hallway to make sure they were alone.

“Come in.” she whispered.

Will and Damon looked at each other as they gathered their burdens and went in, shutting the door behind them. The girl quickly relocked it, then turned and walked to the back of the apartment toward a dim light.

Before he could turn and follow Will felt his partner’s hand on his arm. Damon took out a small flashlight and pointed the beam at a shelf by the door. A large rusty knife was laying on top of a stack of dusty books.

Will quickly took possession of it and proceeded into the apartment with Damon close behind.

The girl sat down on a dingy sofa and Damon knelt beside her and pulled his light back out.

“Hi” he said. “I’m Damon and this is my partner Will. We’re paramedics. What’s your name?”

The girl stared blankly at Damon and timidly reached over to a pack of cigarettes on the end table next to her. Normally they would ask the patient not to smoke but neither said anything as she put the cigarette in her mouth and lit it. A jagged gash was clearly visible above her left eye in the yellow flame of the lighter. It was no longer bleeding but there was dried blood around it and in her hair.

She took a long drag on the cigarette and the end glowed bright red. She then blew out a cloud of smoke and dropped the lighter on the floor and looked down. “Dessi” she said meekly with a trembling lip.

Damon gently put a gloved hand under her chin and lifted her face into the light. “Dessi can you look at me?” he said softly.

She lifted her head and her eyes began to water.

“What happened?” he asked.

Dessi took another drag on her cigarette and nervously looked back down silently.

“Dessi, can you talk to me?” Damon asked again.

The girl looked back up and burst into tears and nodded her head.

“Who did this to you?”

Dessi took a final drag on her cigarette before putting it out. “My boyfriend. Morte.”

As Damon was trying to comfort her Will rifled through the Thomas pack he proudly called his emergency room in a bag. He hated calls like this and was content to let Damon run it.

As he worked Will heard a knock at the door. “PD finally decided to show up.” He thought and continued to pull bandages and sterile water from the bag in front of him.

Suddenly there was a loud crash and Will could hear the sound of wood splintering. Damon turned at the noise and as he did the badge on his shirt glinted in the light catching the intruders eye.

“You fucking bitch!” Will heard a man scream in a high pitched voice. “You called the cops!”

Damon started to get up when Will heard an explosion and saw him fall over.

“Morte!” Dessi screeched. This was followed by a second loud bang and the girl lurched to the right knocking over the lamp plunging the room into darkness.

Will could hear footsteps and then the flash from a third shot illuminated the scene and he could make out a man with a gun standing over her. “BITCH!” he screamed again.

The man apparently hadn’t noticed Will crouching by the T-pack. Instinctively he hit the red emergency button on his radio, then lunged at the shadow before him. The intruder was caught off guard but recovered quickly. The two men grappled, slamming into the wall knocking pictures off of it and onto the floor. Will had one hand on the barrel of the gun when he felt a hard punch to the stomach accompanied by a loud cracking sound. He could feel something wet running down his leg and his knees buckled. The man he was fighting pushed him back against the window and Will saw him straighten up and raise the gun point blank at him and fire.

Will was thrown violently back and crashed through the glass. The next thing he knew he was laying in the grass outside twenty five feet below and the last thing he heard before he passed out was a voice coming out of his radio and a siren wailing in the night.

“Three oh eight…three oh eight respond...”
“Three oh eight…three oh eight…”

-1 for not paying for advertising

-2 for double posting

As for the paragraph, what half way competent medic would go into that apartment? Maybe some would go in with just the bloody haired girl but who would continue once you see an easily accessible knife? Any medic with more than a year under their belt would have their Spidey Senses going off and turn around. Sounds more like a good opening scene for Rescue Me or Turd Watch (if it was still on). I think the 2 reviews on Amazon are pretty laughable (but I can't hold that against the author).

Has anyone purchased it yet?

Robert, give us your bio, as this book could have been written by anyone who is or is not a medic.

I have 3.99 to spend but i'm wanting your bio before I purchase it.

But I do agree with one of the original posters prior to me, those medics were truly Dumbasses for going in to the house and then letting the girl lock the door. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES.

From the description on Amazon, it seems the author is that paramedic and suffered greatly for that decision. I will not be purchasing the book however, but just a heads up.

If that is the case, I'm sorry for what you went through and have to live with now. What courage it must have taken to write out what happened that was so horrible.

Oh my, Robert, it that's the case, I truly hope that you have recovered and maybe this book is one of those methods that has helped you recover from what you encountered that day.

Even though that decision for the medic in the book (assuming it was you) was a bad decision and hopefully all of us if we read your post learn from it and say "HOLY HELL BATMAN" I"ll never let that happen to me, we all do need to remember that this could happen to us.

I don't wish you any ill will and i hope that you sell as many books as you are able. I'm on the fence about buying the book. I normally don't buy books that relate to my own profession as I find them often unrealistic or hero worshipping. Maybe yours is different.

ok, I pulled the trigger and spent the 3.99 and bought it. It's only 46 pages and it should be an easy read. I'll review it shortly.
