Sworn officers versus civilain TEMS

Recommended Posts

If he was correcting incorrect information, good for him...someone could have done a search on the topic and been misinformed.

Since we're bumping the thread, anyway, I HAVE seen a SWAT team's trauma doctor in what looked like full gear and definitely wearing a side-arm. He wasn't sworn because I overheard people talking about him going through the reserve academy in the future (if I heard correctly). He could have been ex-military or something of the sort...I know he goes training with the team whenever he can. He stays in the armored car while entries go down, though.

There is nothing wrong with a Civilian being used as a Tactical Medic on a SWAT/TAC team, Denver uses Paramedics from Denver Health that they have trained in the use of Firearms and team tactics..

They work well together..They keep a ger bag in there amb, that has there swat gear in it and have it when needed at a scene..

I have been a Law enforcement officer for 27 years and a EMT for 20 plus years and during that time, acted as a Tac Medic on a active Federal Team, Glad I'm retired, but always willing to work as a Tac Medic..

At least we know SOMEBODY knows how to use the search function. I didn't recognize it, then I see 2 of my postings?

As for the 2 year gap, has any body's agencies changed their standards, specifically as to arming non LEO medical personnel on an entry team, or even allowing a medical person entry until the scene is supposedly secure?
