No more use for "Monkey"

According to Lake Superior State University in MI there is a new list of words that have been banned from the Queen's English Dictionary.

To keep it short and sweet, I just saved and posted the one that pertains to this forum.

"Monkey" was on the list because of what some see as its rampant use as a suffix. "Especially on the Internet, many people seem to think they can make any boring name sound more attractive just by adding the word 'monkey' to it," wrote Rogier Landman of Sommerville, Mass.

So "hose monkey" can no longer be used, especially in a derogatory manner.

Peace. Out.

Funny thread, firedoc...

And I had to look at previous years, to see the other banished words:

I was looking for one of my favorite “hated” phrases.. “thinking outside the box” (it always reminds me of my dog – what made you climb into that box to start with?).. but I got sidetracked, laughing at this entry from 2006:

"AN ACCIDENT THAT DIDN'T HAVE TO HAPPEN – Best-laid mayhem. “This means some accidents need to happen, for whatever reason, I can't figure.” — Thomas Price, Orlando, Fla. "

So I can't use the term "HOSE MONKEY" any more--------How about HOSE JOCKEY or HOSER or maybe a LADDER CRAWLER or a SMOKE JOCKEY those were not on the lists...

SO BE GOOD HOSER'S[/font:6231afd469]

On the topic of thinking outside the box: http://gennick.com/thinking_outside_box.html

I use the term "business babble" for phrases like that.
