  1. Our service gives us polos and EMS pants. We also get a bright yellow reflective jacket/winter coat. Everything else is up to us. as for everything else, we have pagers and radios. I carry scissors, pens, paper, and my flip books in my pockets. I also have a maglight that I carry. That is it. There is no need to really carry a lot of stuff that will drag you down. Most of what we need is in our thomas pack.
  2. Ok, so we attempted to do this in class and it was a disaster. Everyone tried to do it like dynamic cardiology but just verbalizing everything. So What ia a good way to prepare for the static portion??? It seems to be the one part that EVERYONE in class is really getting caught up in.

  7. I am just about finished with my first year paramedic. That means that I have one more year until I graduate ("May 2011) My question to all of you is when is a good point to start applying for Paramedic jobs? I am looking for a job in a different state. Should I wait until I graduate, or should I start sending out resumes 6months before? Any ideas?

  11. At the service I am on now, I am on an accelerated orientation. 2 days after hire I went for a fit test, blood work, and agility test ( tough but not bad). Then I went to a 2 day orientation to the hospitals (we are a combined hospital). Day two of orientation was general hospital Computer Based Training, Then I started in the ER/ambulance. It starts with a tour of the hospital and a get to know everyone. Then went out to the ambulance to start going through things. I spent a few hours going through the ambulance then I went driving around town to get to know streets (important ones). The days after that are getting to know rigs, checking things, helping in ER and being the 3rd emt on calls. By june 20th I will be on my own. The orientation is not bad. I guess it helps to have a hospital back ground too. clear as mud?
