  1. it got brought up in chat today that spenac is smelly and likes to think hes the offial basher..so im carioverting this thread back to life so we may again, for our pleasure, bash spenac the dirty scoundral once more
  2. we have a 1991 marque E-450 type III and a 2006 osage Type III that is also an E-450
  3. umm alot of the time CFR(certified First Responder) training is used by FFs so they dont have to take the EMT class...Or in my case im a CFR because im not old enought ot become an EMT-B yet.
  4. im 16 and im fat but my blood pressure and cholesterol are perfect lol. they both got checked when i donated blood last month lol
  5. lol they call it shit and not feces?
  6. hmm. If you want to se how this plan affects patine care come to my community. Our volunteer service is strictly BLS volunteers BUT, we contract a paramedic from the sheriffs department. The medic wears a sheriffs deputys uniform drives a sheriffs department ALS SUV chase car with his equipment in it. The only thing that seperates him from the deputys is his paramedic patch. People definately get a little nervous when he climbs in and goes to ask them questions and start an IV.
  7. ok guys(and gals), I'm doing a report at school for health class on ambulance safety operations and I need some help. Any information or links of any sort would be greatly appreciated
  8. lol wow that sucks for you guys. After we give our report the hospital assigns us a room and we take them straight there, where we are happily(HAHAHA i wish)greeted by a nurse who takes the patient and another report and we leave.
  9. Dust I'm ashamed you forgot me!!!! ......I have been here, hmm I forget exactly i think its close to a whole year and a half now. I've been ripped apart several times lol. in fact I just got a new one tore out in the teenage EMS thread not for posting my view but for mentioning a BS call I went on. But, hey I'm still here, and my I add with much better spelling and grammar thanks to Dust, Rid, And ruffems nearly committing homicide on my first thirty posts. But, I think the biggest thing for me to say is how much i've learned. I know more about EMS as a whole not just my tiny volunteer service than over half the people who work there. I commonly bring up topics of suggestion and they just look at me like I'm stupid. So, id like to thank everyone for making this such an informative place and for making me hate a few of you several times lol. EDIT:whoops I forgot spell check...I don't want a new arse ripped for this post lol
  10. lol im not old enough to be an EMT so i choose CFR for a while lol
  11. Yhis is the kind of system i work in to do my ride alongs and learn. It's working very well for me, and has taught me alot.
  12. NEWS BULLETIN: an Australian police officer and two others have been arrested and the officer placed on administrative leave for apparently joy riding in his police cruiser while the other two video taped the incident...lol
  13. wow....I guess i shouldn't have posted. Well upon my BS call statement, Upon arrival I was very professional and treated it as an emergency. I obtained vitals checked the spot where it stung her went through my SAMPLE history and then found that all that was left was that the stinger was still in there. The lady promptly removed I applied neospuren and a band-aid. She was happy refused transport and I left. I considered this BS because of all that I'm sorry everyone i should have posted in more detail. And if you all think im working like the kids in Darien thats just not true, I'm nothing but an assistant on the ambulance if they don't want me involved with a call i just sit their or if need be ride up front. But, most of the time i am in the back helping because i have proven myself competent and they consider me part of the team. So far, no one in the area has been worried about me coming out of the ambulance to help them. I've actually had several patients say how happy they were i was doing something with my life instead of running about and doing drugs.
  14. personally i think you should just ditch the hortons and buy an osage box on an F-450 chassis...we have two of them. 1 is 10 years old and is still a primary running great. Its only had a few very minor problems
  15. lol a tanker engine in the next town has a pair of those huge swinging chrome nuts.....hell of a sight to watch it go around a corner code 3 balls a waggin
  16. You dont consider the old lady got stung by a bee a week earlier and it itched today BS? Yes that was an actuall call I went on lol

  18. hmm. I have been doing alot of thinking and I believe im going to chime in from these kids perspectives seeing as I'm 16. Now, I see pros and cons to their system. CONS: What I dislike is the fact that they are running the ambulance service with only 1 adult supervising and ALS only availible as backup. PROS: experiance, chances to learn and see things. Not many of you will like this but i take calls on a real ambulance to real 911 emergencys(well sometimes most are BS), but, im not the highest level provider there. I am only a rider BUT I do touch the patients and use all skills that I have been taught, which usually means i do all the work that an EMT would do with the medic while he/she sits on their ass lol. as for PTSD, I have seen some things already that would make alot of people lose their stomachs and run off in shock. It really didnt bother me or leave me un able to sleep at night and that is due to my experiances of growing up on a farm and seeing animals hurt and dieing but still having to care for them. The career ending back injury is also preventable, that is why you make sure you lift correctly everytime and call for help if you need it. Just my thoughts
  19. me too....i was hoping to work there a few years before going into the big bad world. But, I want to get paid lol.
  20. to be an ambulance driver at my serice all you have to do is complete an EVOC course(Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) no first aid or CPR training required. NOTE: we are a volunteer service and have a hard time getting people to drive.
  21. we just, as in this year, changed our protocols so that we never respond with the fire department unless they request us. Such as even on confirmed structure fires if our presence isn't requested we don't go, sadly alot of FFs think we need to be at every little fire and end up asking for us.
  22. thanks to Galls im now an expert on ballistics vest. If anyone has questions or concerns just look at my degree http://galls.com/ballistic_certificate.html . I am now taking questions regarding ballistic vests
  23. that right there is excactly how my servie works.
  24. got a problem...we are a private service. But we are volunteer lol
  25. from my limikted experiance im a type III person. such as an E-450, its not huge. But has enough room to perate nicely without being smashed in a type II
