Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple said a man called his office last month to report that something was wrong with his girlfriend. Whipple said it appeared the 35-year-old Ness City woman’s skin had grown around the seat. She initially refused emergency medical services but was finally convinced by responders and her boyfriend that she needed to be checked out at a hospital. “We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital,” Whipple said. “The hospital removed it.” Whipple said investigators planned to present their report Wednesday to the county attorney, who will determine whether any charges should be filed against the woman's 36-year-old boyfriend. “She was not glued. She was not tied. She was just physically stuck by her body,” Whipple said. “It is hard to imagine. ... I still have a hard time imagining it myself.” He told investigators he brought his girlfriend food and water, and asked her every day to come out of the bathroom. “And her reply would be, ‘Maybe tomorrow,”’ Whipple said. “According to him, she did not want to leave the bathroom.” The boyfriend called police on Feb. 27 to report that “there was something wrong with his girlfriend,” Whipple said, adding that he never explained why it took him two years to call. Police found the clothed woman sitting on the toilet, her sweat pants down to her mid-thigh. She was “somewhat disoriented,” and her legs looked like they had atrophied, Whipple said. “She said that she didn’t need any help, that she was OK and did not want to leave,” he said. She was taken to a hospital in Wichita, about 150 miles southeast of Ness City. Whipple said she has refused to cooperate with medical providers or law enforcement investigators. Authorities said they did not know if she was mentally or physically disabled. Police have declined to release the couple’s names, but the house where authorities say the incident happened is listed in public records as the residence of Kory McFarren. No one answered his home phone number. The case has been the buzz in Ness City, said James Ellis, a neighbor. I didn't know exactly where to post this - Funny Stuff? No, maybe not. News? Well maybe. EMS Discussion? I don't know. Anyways, this town isn't too far from where I live. It is quite the news around here already.

:roll: I can't believe this guy is actually suing now. If you can't perform the tasks required at any job, you go down the road. I wonder why he feels entitled to have the job if he can't perform it?

I would refuse and instead suggest that they make a donation to something in the community, Red Cross, St. Jude's, whatever.....

If you are not looking to move on the coast, you can look at Grand Junction, CO. The winters are very mild there, very sunny and summers are not too hot. Many places are nice in the winter maybe, but hotter than heck in the summer, Grand Junction is a nice place with a lot to do over there.

I think it all just depends on where you are. Are you looking to take a class and that is why you are asking? If so, I would ask around and see if people in your local area know anything about your local programs if there are a lot to choose from. You could also just take a look at your own schedule and the schedules offered at each class. Welcome to EMTCity.

Have you checked with Mesa State College, or the 2 hospitals in Grand Junction? I thought Mesa had a P program, so they might have a refresher or know where to find one. The hospitals I think both have some classes there. I think there is also one on the eastern slope through Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

So let me get this straight. Over 4,000 people who ingested either "pesticides" or seeds were studied. There are many different kinds of pesticides. Add that with the "seeds" that could have been ingested and there are a whole lot of variables for one research study. I know there is a wide variation in variables in real life, but come on. Now that I am thinking about it, over 1500 people were withheld charcoal and later died...I call BS on this study.

No I don't think you are too old if this is really what you want to do. I doubt you will die anywhere close to being financially set though, but that isn't as important to some people as it is others. Do you have a wife/family? If so, I think you should consider talking to them and make sure they are on board with you. I know several people who didn't start vet school until they were 35+ and got out with over $100,000 in debt, making only $30-40K a year and they wouldn't trade what they do for the world.

I think it's a good idea.........Just one question though.....How do you get paid? Is it the service paying you a higher fee and you taking a cut off the EMT's/Medics hourly wage? .....If so, all I can see is some disgruntled workers *IF* the benefits don't outweigh what they are already offered.

Actually, I not only worked for several veterinarians at the 2nd ranked vet school in the country (I worked in the teaching hospital), I have also been a vet school applicant and learned about the entire selection process from the assistant dean. Also, my ex was a veterinarian.....So, I am well-versed in the whole process in this country... While most of the applicants have previous veterinary experience, many of them do not. They make all of the junior students learn how to halter a horse, restrain a dog and cat and many other elementary animal handling techniques before starting their clinicals because most have never had any experience in it. The schools look the most at GPA, GRE scores and diverse experiences...

The main reason getting into vet school is harder than med school is simply because there are only 26 vet schools in the country with over a hundred medical schools. Med schools typically have the same pre-reqs & average GPA as the vet schools.

Yes, I have seen many docs say to eat yogurt daily when taking antibiotics. Acidophilous taken in pill form bought over the counter can save many girls from getting yeast infections and can also make your tummy feel a lot better. As far as veterinarians being smarter than MD's - Well, I'm not touching that one, but it has seemed to me that many, many more veterinarians are more cautious about microbial resistance and also more open-minded about holistic therapies used as a compliment, not a replacement to traditional medicine. In fact, in any given vet class in the country, you will find a handful of those hoping to pursue homeopathic medicine.

Actually, something was suggested months ago to the admin in terms of warning those who were causing problems here and that was to have more than 1 moderator calling the shots....Moderators who are actual participating members with the forum and chat room....Admin never implemented the idea for whatever reason.......So, we were left with self-moderation which worked out just fine until the complainers couldn't see that the people here who cause problems are not welcome and the regular members take care of it pretty quick.... Those of you who haven't been here that long or who haven't participated to the extent of being in the chat room for hours almost every single night on end and reading each and every post wouldn't know the history here now would you?

I'm sure that if you had been here for the past 7 months like many of us members, then you would feel much differently all of the sudden having a 'tattle-tale' elementary demerit warning system................See you in detention.............

Okay, the new warning system was implemented on this board only a few days ago...........I the past few days, I have seen only 3 people issued warnings and among those, 2 of those people are long time members of this board and are highly educated, diplomatic and passionate about what they believe in. What is wrong with that?? I am a passionate person myself and sometimes we type without fully thinking through our comments. I have been guilty of this more than once either in the chat room or the discussion forums. But come on! At the rate the 'passionate' people and top posters are going with this, they will have used up all their warnings by the end of the month and be banned. THE SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK! People will stop wanting to speak their minds on here for fear of racking up warnings and that isn't right. You can't tell people in EMS, who are already highly passionate people to keep their mouths shut especially with the nature of the topics we discuss. You know what-The topics being discussed on here deal with real life and the people who post here are doing one of the hardest jobs in the world and they see real life-as pretty as it can be-everyday. So, taking away the passionate people on this site who speak REAL and freely about topics is only going to turn this site into elementary school. Here's my alternative solution: Take away the warning system and go back to self moderation. It worked just fine in the past and there were very few people who ever caused problems on this site. You just wait. This thread will probably be deleted, but that just goes to show what happens when someone tries to speak their minds on here and actually spend several hours a day on here trying to make this place a better one.

There are very few religions that do not believe he existed, they just don't believe various things about him such as performing miracles, God's son, etc.... Probably the reason why those people don't believe he existed is because over 90% of the world's population have never even seen a Bible......

Since everyone has turned this into a religious debate, rather than focusing on the real question at hand, which was evolution and exploring the different scientific theories and facts regarding it's existence, I will jump in on the religion debate. When the Bible was written, the earth was considered flat and there was no such thing as scientific theory and fact as we know it today. The Bible is written so figurative, yet people today take everything so literally. I love the people who say dinosaurs didn't exist because they weren't mentioned in the Bible. This is because of the 'teaching' that Christians should believe in the Bible and nothing else. The Bible was written by man. It isn't to say that these things didn't happen for the most part, but simply that you can't take it word for word literally. Another reason the Bible is flawed is the fact that over 30 years of Jesus' life is excluded from the Bible. What was he doing during those years? I am not saying any of this to discount who Jesus was, but I simply choose not to put ALL of my faith in the writings by man who managed to lose 30 years worth of writing from who is supposed to be the #1 man in the Bible. Another thing I can't believe is those who claim to be Christians and yet have never bothered to read the Qur'an (or any other religious teachings for that matter), a book which starts its account of Jesus' life with the birth of Mary. Now I ask all Christians: If you love Jesus, why haven't you tried to explore his life more? The basic difference between all religions is Dogma and Doctrine. here are some definitions in case you don't know the difference :: Dogma - specific tenets of a religious sect. Adherents are obligated to accept these things as creed to receive grace. Doctrines - Religous convictions (taught as facts) to which adherents are expected to pledge allegience. So, I am not even going to get into my own beliefs, but I will say that I think almost everyone on this thread needs to open their minds a little more to other religions and get to know them considering half of everyone I've seen on here cannot defend their own religion as well as recognize it's flaws. In my opinion if you aren't #1::Educated on all world religions or #2::Cannot see that your own religion has it's flaws then you are preaching nothing more than pure ignorance. I believe that until you can list the basic dogma and doctrine of most of the world's religions, you have absolutely no right to tell others they are wrong for not believing what you believe. But, for the record, I also believe in micro evolution, not macro evolution.
