  1. Hooters is a bar/restaurant chain that is open to the public. It is not a strip club, although some would say it is stripper training school. Children are allowed. (http://hooters.com/hootersgirl/Home/Default.aspx ) see picture of woman under "who is that girl" -- that is a hooters waitress in uniform. Her legs are crossed because their shorts are so tight that you can usually see their camel-toe (and they dont wear panties, they instead wear pantyhose). The typical waitress is very busty, although it is not mandatory, there are some average and below average sized waitresses.
  2. I have to take crapmagnets side on this one. Our society is way to puritan. Tell me why it is OK for your children to sit and watch two men beat the hell out of each other, shoot each other, or kill animals on TV, but to see a penis will scar them for life ? I will be upfront and honest, seeing two men kiss each other does turn my stomach a little, but what is worse is that I am sickened by an act of love, whereas I have no emotion towards the acts stated above. And alot of these men have on more clothing than your average Hooter's waitress, but I hear no outcry from MEN to shut those restaurants down for indecensy.
  3. I get what flaming is trying to say, the wording was harm the patient, and you can not harm a dead person. And yes you can do effective CPR in a moving vehicle, have been doing it for years. But with that being said, I agree that transporting asystolic patients in emergency mode is dumb.
  4. Have seen more added than deleted, but things I can think of: 1. Glucose strips, replaced by glucometer 2. Wooden long or short back boards, we used to make our own. 3. MAST Trousers 4. Paper Mapbooks (aero atlas -- but worked in some areas where we used the bank map). 5. Federal Q sirens on ambulances (miss those). 6. D5W as a first-line IV. 7. Cardiac Monitors that weighed 50lbs and did nothing but monitor and dfib. 8. Byrd respirators. 9. Pagers 10. Soft C-Collars and then the two piece foam collar with velcro (burnt orange color) 11. Sandbags 12. M-sized oxygen cylinders, and in the early days the main tank was mounted under the squad bench and you had to lift those giant tanks in and out -- back breaker and knuckle skinner) 13. Jelco IV needles 14. The little bean shaped emesis basins (plastic or metal) 15. Sandbags That should get someone started as I am sure I forgot alot.
  5. Thank you for having the balls (yes, pun intended) to respond in a public forum, but I was asking about products like Enzyte that promote that they will make your little man larger, not erectile dysfunction meds. Thanks
  6. If you are uncomfortable disclosing this information publicly, please feel free to message me. I am curious about the male enhancement pills that you see advertised on TV. Everything I read about them online says that they are all scams and do not work. But I know that a couple of the manufacturers have been around for many years and sell their products in department stores and pharmacies, so you would think if it was a total scam, it would have died by now. So has anyone tried them or know if they really work ? If so, which one worked, how well did it work, and if it worked does it only work as long as you take the medicine (temporary) ?
  7. Same as everything else in medicine, you bill the insurance company $1000, so you will collect $200
  8. And me in my boxers, and my partner in her XXXLG Snuggy Wrap, had just laid down for what would surely only be a short nap .............
  9. OK, might earn my first negative grades on this one, but here is what I think/know: I recently saw a documentary on human evolution, that talked about the differences in human versus ape sexual anatomy. Female's vagina and pelvic bones actually changed during evolution as we became animals that walked upright (moving more to the front and canal directional change to accomodate not being on all fours), human male penises are far larger than their ape counter parts (not for me, but for some of you lol) so that they could procreate with the new position of female's plumbing. It is believed that these changes (by whoever does such things -- God, Buddah, the Pope) was strictly for procreation purposes and that enjoyment of the act was not part of the plan. It is believed that we are the only species that uses sex for anything other than procreation, all other species do not do it for enjoyment (female in heat, male notices, makes a deposit to make another animal). So you will have to decide if homosexual sex is aberrant activity, since it is known that the activity will not result in procreation. For me, there have been homosexuals as far back in our history as we know (at least in biblical times, since we know the bible is against it), so I can not see how an issue that has been around over 2000 years is an aberrant activity. I do not understand how 2 people of the same sex can enjoy doing what they do (I have had anal sex with women and found it disgusting), but that is not for me to decide. As long as you are not performing any sexual activity with me or my wife, it is none of my business what you do. With that being said, I have to ask why lesbians use vibrators ? Gay men do not strap fake boobs on their man, so why do women who proport to be in love with women find the need to use male parts for pleasure ? Just asking ? If too risque a question, I apologize in advance.
  10. I am sorry, I got lost very early on with all the role play, can you just spell it out to me for real in a PM ? I will keep your message private ?
  11. This is how all fire/ems departments should be, the users should pay for the system. In this type of system, you have a choice, pay a modest annual subscription (usually under $100/year) or choose to have no protection. My county taxes for my home run a little under $2,000.00 per year to provide me with public safety services and schools that I do not use. It is not like it is a surprise to anyone, they knew what the deal was in the county when they moved there. Why pay millions of dollars in taxes to pay hose monkeys to sit around the station and watch TV and sleep. Why respond at all ? In this type system, the hose monkeys respond to non-subscribers to protect next-door subscriber's homes from catching fire; they contain it to the non-subscriber's property.
  12. You don;t like romney ? May I ask why ? Who do you think is more qualified that is currently in the race.
  13. All of them (except for one now) are rich white guys. When I say insider, I mean Newt is like all the other existing politicians, he has been bought by lobbyists, and has been in the white house/congress too long. Of course we saw what happened when we put the last person in who had little experience. So maybe I am wrong.
  14. The same reason ER doctors order a CT on every patient with a bump to the head, the LAWYERS. The public has been educated by TV and Movies that every patient magically is saved in the ER. Medics have been sued for failure to transport because the family believed they took away their only chance of survival. Is it right ? No And then occasionally you read that story where medics declare someone dead, and then have to go back and work the patient when the coroner or funeral home found a pulse or saw the patient breath.
  15. Ok, Cain is out and now it seems Newt is surging....................... really, really, really ? Do we really want someone who has been an insider for the past 20 years ? I wonder why Santorum can't gain any traction, seems like a nice, smart, guy ?
  16. Don't assume you have to be an EMTB or EMTI before going to Paramedic, for alot of states, it is an assumption, not a rule or law. It is just one of those things that have always been done that way. With that being said, if your state does not require it, your college or tech school probably does as it is a way to make mo money, mo money, mo money.
  17. It probably was under double lock, but every Paramedic who ever worked there past and present, probably had a key to the box, and every ambulance service in the state probably has the same lock on the cabinet door as most tend to order from the regional ambulance manufacturere, I know I have 1250, 751, TM 211, and an EF320 key on my personal key ring right now. Even if they did not have the drug box key, it would be easy to steal from the unit and then bust it open later. How many times do you walk by an ER ramp and see an ambulance with all doors wide open after running a critical call, often with the drug box still sitting on the floor/bench ? "Locks are for honest people, they never stop a thief".This was most likely one of our own who stole it.
  18. I vote Psych issues since his unconsciousness was alleviated by sternal rubs.
  19. Just seems wrong to me, the first amendment was created to protect the speech NO ONE wants to hear, regardless of how embarassing it is. I don't see how that church group is allowed to protest at veteran's funerals and yell obscenities, but I can not vent on my facebook page.
  20. I get that they can impose against this kind of stuff, but for instance, what about some of you who have used your real pic or disclosed where you work on here maybe in your profile or in past conversations. So then if you come in here and make generally disparaging remarks about homosexuals, minorities, or a political party, that has nothing to do with your job (like maybe in the "You might Be Ghetto" forum) while off-duty and in your home, your company has the right to fire you ?
  21. CUT AND PASTED FROM ABOVE LINK For the second time, Nashville paramedic Kevin Kennedy charged with inappropriate online conduct Nashville Fire Department employee originally cited for homophobic Facebook posts by Blake Boldt Nov 10, 2011 | Email | Print | Share | For the second time in three months, Nashville Fire Department paramedic Kevin Kennedy faces disciplinary action for making inappropriate comments on his Facebook page. 22. http://www.outandabo...om/article/5160 Ok there is a twist this time. This time the posts were made on his personal facebook page, last time it was departmental. After a 2 month suspension, anger management classes, and public disgrace, this jerk still has not learned a thing, and probably needs to be fired, but I am a little leary about my work telling me what I can and can not post on my personal site (excluding remarks about my employer, naming my employer, showing pictures of stations or vehicles). I mean if I an HLPP worked at the same place, and she did something to really piss me off, can I not talk about it on facebook ?Where does protecting the company image line end and free speech line begin ?
  23. I think you guys may be seeing something different than me, I took HLPPs statement to be "IF you are so callous that you do not have empathy (or have no feeling when bad things happen) that you should get out of the business." Maybe I am wrong. If that is what she meant, I would agree with it, as anyone who could watch a child die and not be moved at all (like you were watching a fake movie), would raise concerns about your mental health to me. I do not expect you to fall apart or attempt suicide, I expect you to be a professional, but I have been on several calls where everyone at the scene had a tear in their eye.
  24. Unfortunately, the hospital was legally right, but could have handled it differently. Crapmagnet is right, the family put the first hospital into a bad situation. Once they engage in giving report or continuing any further care, they are setting themselves up for legal problems and an EMTALA violation for an illegal transfer to another facility. This type of call happens frequently, although it is usually an ER patient who gets mad because the wait is too long or they did not get the pain med they wanted, and now want a taxi ride to the next ER. You did not state what kind of drips/meds were running, 7 weeks post surgery the patient could just be on an IV with no meds, but if meds were being infused you would definitely be correct to request ALS. The cardiac monitor use in the hospital does not necessarily make it an ALS call, as many patients are monitored via telemetry that do not require EMS, she may well have just been monitored because of her age and history, but again if your gut says "ALS", it is better to be safe than sorry. As far as picking up a patient in the hospital, it is no different than anywhere else, IF the patient demands a transfer. I always check with the staff to make sure, as we have had patients call our dispatch directly without involving the nurses, so you want to make sure the AMA or transfer paperwork is complete before leaving, and that the patient knows what risk they are putting themselves in. Before you file any formal complaints, you better clear it with your boss, as that could cause your company to lose the contract, and that would most likely get you fired. I am not suggesting it get swept under the rug, but there are many things regarding this situation that you do not understand, so it would best be handled manager to manager. And in this economy I doubt you want to be an unemployed EMTB; I know too many medics who lost their job because they reported a nursing home to the state over things that seemed like a big deal at the time, but were not in retrospect. An example: Go to pick up patient for fever, noted patient had nasty bed sores. EMT assumes nursing home has not been treating and turning the patient properly, files a complaint with the state. State inspectors come in to investigate. What the EMT did not know was the patient had only been in that facility for 10-12 hours, and got those bedsores at home. But the state's surprise inspection was not pleasant for the facility, as they always find something wrong when they come out for a complaint inspection. Just like if I did a surprise inspection of most people's ambulance/station I could find some violation somewhere.
