    Yuk. Eew. Gross.

Uck... :pukeleft: I have had a situation like that before, where the decomposition was so bad that the skin just kind of slithered off the bones...almost like a degloving, but a lot slimier. BLECH. It reminded me of a well-done piece of meat, where you grab the bone and the rest just falls off. NAST!
  2. Besides that...not trying to be mean here at all...but what happens if your patient's "outlines" don't fit in those "outlines". Seems like it would make for an even MORE uncomfortable experience....in my opinion... 8

Hmmmm....a few that come directly to mind are.... "Jumper" - Third Eye Blind A short sample of lyrics: Well he's on the table and he's gone to code And I do not think anyone knows What they're doing here And your friends have left you You've been dismissed I never thought it would come to this And I, I want you to know Everyone's got to face down the demons Maybe today You could put the past away "Dr Feelgood" - Motley Crue "Lunatic Fringe" - Red Ryder "Numb" - Linkin Park (love that song!) "No more tears" Ozzy Osbourne (lmao) Just a few that come to mind...I'm sure I'll think of others.......lmao BTW...Great avatar, Jake!!! 8) Damn...why didn't I think of that first... 8
  4. Very true...Because I knew this....I was able to save my own father. 8
  5. That's funny stuff, right there... I say...if you feel you are ready for it...then go for it. Don't look back. Look at Jenni....she's kicking butt and taking names....*8 is SO proud of her surrogate EMS daughter* lmao. Get in school and get it over with....then enjoy. It's a hell of a job....wouldn't trade it for the world. xoxo luv, 8
  6. OMG! I made it to "Level 3" almost at the end...lmao..duh.....and then well...see for youself! Yikes!
  7. Holy Crappies!!! :pukeleft: I have profuse nausea,..... a giant urge to hurl. This gave me a headache... Wow...
  8. Right....As a rule, I refrain from using endearing terms, so as not to offend someone older than me. I use it sometimes with kids...depending...for kids will tell you if they don't like it, and not be as offended as an adult. And I only do that usually after I've asked their name and used that first. Basically...I talk to a kid as I do my own...and usually that gets received well. Now, as for the old men...well...as Rid said, they like to flirt. I have a few regulars, and those guys EXPECT me to be that way with them. If I called any of them sir or their first name, they would ask me what the hell my problem was. Literally, in those words. lol. Some of them, all I do is walk in the house and smile at them. "Ahhhh...there she is...they say." I give a wink, grab their hand, give a squeeze and a pat on the back, verify that the condition is the "same as last time"... and away we go. As a rule...just start out by being respectful and polite. You will get to know your patients, and you will get to know what is offensive and what is not. You have to somewhat "read" the patient and the amount of pain/distress they are in, the kind of sickness, and the seriousness of the call. Use common sense. It's different with everyone. As long as your intentions are good, and you use your head, everything else will usually fall into place. xoxo 8
  9. I couldn't have said it any better myself. This is me, to a T. And the thank you cards keep pouring in....It doesn't take much. Just a set of ears, some sort of heart, and the genuine desire to do your job to the best of your ability. EMS is a great love in my life. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Those little moments with my patients, those sleepy 3 am calls at their most vulnerable moments, and knowing I can help in some way... are priceless to me. Yeah, sometimes you get the BS...but what job doesn't. Good job xselerate! Great attitude! 8
  10. LOL...I ran my pen up the sole of his foot...no reaction whatsoever....no twitch, no jerk, no reflex. Toes just quivered like the rest of his body... Definitely no tickle...lmao
  11. Patient only works at a part time job, is mostly a student from what I gather. And no, North...he wasn't from Nebraska...lmao... *8*

  14. LMAO No, I didn't get that impression...but one would suspect. I agree...under the circumstances... *DRAMA*..
  15. Sorry about the avatar, squint....I haven't found one I like...lmao NO, this is not BLS....I do not have a BLS truck.... That's right...chest pain disappeared... I suspected poss. drug use...patient denies, and seems fairly believable. I considered MI...at first...then CVA.....but.... I'll let a few more post first...
  16. Ok...everyone...here's my strange call of the night. I am very interested in everyone's inputs/ideas as to what they think may have been going on here. I have a few ideas...but would like your input just for grins... Get called out for a 19 yo Male, chest pain, SOB. Upon arrival, pt. is lying on the floor, appears in distress, working at breathing. Vitals as follows: BP 148/86, P 104, R 36. Monitor shows a normal sinus tach. Color is normal, no diaphoresis, skin is warm and dry. Lungs are clear, abdomen soft, PERRL. Patient is A/O X 3. Patient states he has chest pain that he rates at a 10. Patient is completely flaccid on the left, no grip strength, cannot push with his foot, and denies sensation, appears to be no reflexes, but can wiggle toes on command. Pulses are good. There is no history of any trauma. There is no past medical history at all. Patient has been with friends a short time, but denies alcohol/drug use. Denies the possibility of anyone giving him anything without his knowledge. Family has had a small argument, but nothing out of ordinary. Patient suddenly begins to tremor, is slightly drooling out of left side of mouth, tongue drops out of mouth and hangs there, and he becomes more anxious. Still completely responsive and can answer questions with a little difficulty. No LOC. No seizure activity. No asymmetry to face. Blood sugar checks a little low at 86. No allergies/no meds. After a while, chest pain drops to a 3 and then subsides completely. What do YOU think.....??
  17. I have the Bates boots...and I love them. They are comfy. They lace up the front, but have the side zippers so that you can easily take them on and off, and leave them laced. Good tread, protective toes...and they don't make your feet sweat. I have tried a couple other brands, and so far, I like these best. They are warm in the winter also. My feet have been out a LOT lately in this 9 degree weather I have here...and they're the only part of me that's toasty warm. lmao.. Good deal... xoxoxo  8
  18. You Are a Prophet Soul You are a gentle soul, with good intentions toward everyone. Selfless and kind, you have great faith in people. Sometimes this faith can lead to disappoinment in the long run. No matter what, you deal with everything in a calm and balanced way. You are a good interpreter, very sensitive, intuitive, caring, and gentle. Concerned about the world, you are good at predicting people's feelings. A seeker of wisdom, you are a life long learner looking for purpose and meaning. You are a great thinker and communicator, but not necessarily a doer. Souls you are most compatible with: Bright Star Soul and Dreaming Soul What Kind of Soul Are You? http://www.blogthings.com/whatkindofsoulareyouquiz/
  19. Does high blood pressure run in your family, Jonathan? I know that you're never too young to have this problem. You'd be surprised. Young and old...almost my whole family is on medication. And most of us are in great shape. Like Rid said...regardless of how or why, at this point, you just need to be evaluated and get it under control. If it's determined that you need to take medication, most likely it will be a low dose to maintain a normal reading. And, finding the right medication takes some time and patience as they all have different and sometimes unpleasant side effects. However, it's important that you stick with this and find out not only why you are having this problem, but if it is chronic, and therefore, needs to be controlled. Please don't ignore it. Even if you don't necessarily feel "bad", it is still doing damage to your vessels. It may be something as simple as less sodium in your diet, weight control, exercise...etc...Rid mentioned all this already, I believe. Get it checked...and Take care... 8
  20. Well said. I definitely do not find suicide "funny" by any means...but I do agree that to those left behind, and those who are left to clean the mess, and to continue to deal with the grief and pain...it's a great disrespect, at best.
  21. PRPG....I'm SO proud of you. I knew this project of yours would be a go...and what an accomplishment it will be. Unfortunately...I don't have a lot of advice for you. I have a few small suggestions...but I will pass them along later. Anyway....yeah... I'm holding you to that job...! Oh...and as for "remembers"....remember...the good mix of...warning, 2nd chance/chance to explain......uh...now you're gonna have to go straight to PRPG's office. THEN.... :pain10: LMAO  Way to go, hon! Keep up the good, hard work! xoxoxoxoxo 8
  22. Being De-veined or De-Boned doesn't sound so good either...
