  7. As far as my grammar goes, i am not really trying to be accurate and professional on here. When i do actually have to submit something for employment i am much better and i review what i type. Not to mention most of these post come from a phone, not a computer so i am sure my words are mispelled typing on a small phone. But anyways, thanks guys for the help on what i should expect. I am going to be applying to 5 different cities who are hiring right now and go from there. I have a recruiter i am working with that has been helping me with the city i want to get on with. I work with a personal trainer every other day so that i will be in my best personal shape. My recruiter has been telling me what i can do to increase my chances of getting hired. I guess since yall said i usually have to have experiance first i will work as a cop for a while. It should be fun an will get me the experiance. I am majoring in emergency medicine, do you think i should take criminal justice classes? Again thanks guys and sorry bout the grammar... i will "try" here if it makes yall feel better.

I had them copied luckily, and had go re-turn in everything; Although having them in "late" meant that i couldnt start my clincals right away. I start today though, 2 weeks after i was supposed to.

  19. I am intrested in becoming a swat medic with a big city swat team. I am wondering if anyone on this page is an actual swat medic, how do i get started, what to expect, ect. I would love to talk to someone who works as a swat medic. I am also hoping to maybe work in dallas, or new york city. So if you have any experiance in these locations, it would be even better. k thanks
  20. i'm actually supriesed you guys have heard of CAP. I did search and rescue with them. And yes rhichard most of the calls were bogus. I remember distinctly one night wehere we were searching for a "sinking boat" in the middle of a a neighbor hood at 4am because the e-perb was going off...turned out it was in somebodys garage and we had to wake them up to take a look. The real mssions where few and far between. Which is a good thing because that means no one needed finding, but when they did come i loved it. I was thinking about getting really invloved with wilderness SAR. But I would like to get my paramedic first.
  21. thanks guys, all of this was really helpful. It was more out of curiosity. I used to be invloved with SAR as a part of a Civil Air Patrol ground team (which i doubt anyone has ever heard of on here) I was only a first responder then and worked as the "medic" on my team. I only needed to improvise once while on a mission, it was for a fractured wrist and i ended up using newpaper. We had already used up our splints, when one of our team members tripped. I was intrested in getting back into it since i live not to far from the mountains. So i was just curios as to what other SAR groups have used. So thanks again guys : )))
  22. i dont know who in here has ever done hiking or ground search and rescue, but i am curious as to what you guys think would be the best in mking a make-shift splint. my theory was using thick sticks and strips of fabric, but i've also hear of using pillows, newpaper, ive even heard of someone using an umbrella... if anyone has experiance with this, what would you reccomend?
  23. next semester starts next week. Its peds. and geriatrics. wish me luck
