  1. Yes that is true Helimedic, but since marijuana is illegal in the USA except in some circumstances then he's gonna catch hell for it. If it was a fully legal drug like alcohol is, then there wouldn't be as big a problem with it.
  2. AK I am so thankful you got him over there. He really wanted to go during our get together. I'm proud of both of ya!
  3. I'm thinking of going on their next mission trip. Not the next one but the one about 6 months from now.
  4. do a search for Paramedics for Children on google. I think it's www.pfc.org or www.pfc.net
  5. no no no, you get a helicopter with a doctor(probably one who knows his stuff) and you get them to a rural ER or a Rural Scene and they can do soooo much. No sarcasm at all You have a seasoned trauma surgeon or physician to augment the ER Staff and ER physician. It's a win win
  6. Don, any reason you are being not so nice in your posts to Echo?
  7. Ok, having a physician on board trumps my argument.
  8. Let me ask one more thing. What exactly does a helicopter offer over a ambulance? I know it offers a paramedic and usually a nurse but what additional care do they offer? I can understand RSI if your agency doesn't allow it but I think that's the limit. I know it does offer a faster transport time (if you count airspeed) though. What happens if the patient codes in the chopper? How much room do you have in the patient compartment of a helo? I know it depends on the type of helicopter but some of the birds I've seen have been really cramped? Listen I'm not against air transport but I think it's over utilized. I've been one of those medics in the past that said, "Hey let's call the chopper!" and it came. But is every call to the helicopter medically necessary? We talk about abuse of EMS on the ground but what about medics who overuse the helicopter?
  9. I have to ask this, what is the proven benefit for a medical helicopter flight from the scene to a hospital. If it takes 10-20 minutes for the ems crews to get there, then 5 minutes to assess the need for a helicopter(I'm being overly generous here), then 5 more minutes to get the helicopter notified, 30 minutes(at least) for the helicopter to get airborne and fly to the scene, a 3-7 minute loading, and then 30-45 minutes to the nearest trauma center what is the benefit. I count 90 minutes to get the bird there and then to the trauma center. An ambulance can usually get a patient to the trauma center in 90 minutes but I'm just goin by where I worked at. It might take a lot longer to get them to the trauma center where you work. On the flipside of this, is helicopter transport even indicated in a metropolitan area where the transport time by ground is even less? Helicopters have their place but maybe not as many places as we've had them in the past?
  10. Unlimited field protocols?????? Ok, bilateral lower extremity amputations and RSI. Explain that one to your Medical Director
  11. Wait a second, you mean as a paramedic I have the same responsibility as a doctor and a nurse even if I'm not a doc or a nurse? Sign me up.
  12. fire/emt it's about time you showed up. It took you 4 pages of responses before you bothered to respond. Yes I do believe all you did this post for was to start a pissing match and you succeeded. Good job, your primary objective is complete.
  13. Terri stop showing your retirement age. I'll bet that no-one under 25 can tell you what that commercial was all about. If they can it means they watch tv land
  14. Susie comes home from first grade and tells her father that they learned about the history of Valentine's Day.. 'Since Valentine's Day is for a Christian saint and we're Jewish,' she asks, 'will God get mad at me for giving someone a valentine?' Susie's father says, 'No, God would not get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?' 'Osama Bin Laden,' she says. Her father asks in shock, 'Why Osama Bin Laden?' 'Well,' she says, 'I thought that if a little American Jewish girl could have enough love to give Osama a valentine, he might think that we're not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little, and if other kids sent valentines to Osama, he'd love everyone a lot. And then he'd start telling everyone how much he loved them and how he didn't hate anyone anymore.' Her father's heart swells. 'Susie, that's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard.' 'I know,' Susie says. 'And once that gets him out in the open, the Marines could blow the shit out of him.'
  15. Actually I think that your job does require holding hands and allowing for someone to cry on your shoulder if you will allow it. It's not in the job description but if you ask everyone on here if they have held someone's hand or let them cry on your shoulder then it should be. I think we need to take out this hugging and hand holding and get to the real question of course no-one in their right mind will answer truthfully if they want to keep their job. I have never touched a patient inappropriately EVER. I have never even considered it. That's not what I got in this business for. If I wanted a cheap thrill I'd drive to the nearest convenience store and get a magazine or go to the local Priscilla's shop and buy a porno. At least I won't lose my job for looking at this stuff unless I'm looking at it during work.
  16. All AMR has to do is to underbid your contracts, buy your company or any number of other things and you are history. Trust me, I've seen it happen in countless places. There is a certain amount of money everyone will take and if AMR wants the area bad enough they will somehow provide that figure to the current ambulance providers. No matter what anyone says, they can be bought and I've seen it happen when it comes to AMR countless times.
  17. I agree on the reporting of his admission of falsifying reports. It's only 9:40 here in Massachussetts land so I have at least one more hour to wait before calling California. But then again, I bet that nothing happens to this kid. But then again, and again, he won 100K so if he loses his job he still has around 50K to spend after taxes so he can afford to take a year or so off work. I mean really, he still lives with mommy and daddy and I'll bet he needs a new girlfriend after what he said to her.
  18. Yeah pretty harmless. The show's previews played big time on the one question he answered truthfully have you ever touched a female patient more than you had to and he said no he didn't and that came back as true. So he wasn't all that bad of a guy, a young cocky fresh out of school emt.
  19. Again, I recommend highly, cannot recommend highly enough the progam called The Fifth Protocol. How to write a legally defensible report. Do a internet search. you will find it.
  20. (*GASP*, yes, I am one of those 'low life scum' people that actually HUNT and eat MEAT!) Lone lone lone, the only time I hunt for my food is when I am in the supermarket in the meat aisle hunting for the right cut of Steak for my primitive charcoal grill. I have my entire family who loves to hunt and fish and although I don't like that wild game taste I have absolutely no problem with guns or knives in the home. Next time we meet you need to bring me some deer jerky or something.
  21. and they guy behind the two of them, has some really really big nostrils. did anyone notice the beer stains on her shirt?
  22. then I must have dropped 100 points as I watched the first 42 minutes of the show The 2nd guest a volunteer firefighter was even worse Find out that she is a klepto, a firebug and does the volunteer work because she gets attention from Men at her department. I will have to watch 10 hours of the show "Planet Earth" to regain back 10% of what I've lost watching that show. So the question is - did anyone or has anyone called the state of california to report the first guests admission of falsifying an ambulance report?
  23. Questions(Only the important ones) Would you give Osama Bn Laden CPR If his life depended on it? He said NO> I like him so far Do you really care about the famine in Darfur? Yes (so far so good) Do you think Fat people are simply weak? Yes Do fat people repulse you? Yes and it was asked by a fat person AS an EMT have you ever knowingly falsified a report? YES (fricking moron)n He says "In his defense, everyone's done it!! " what an idiot Ok with that answer he needs to lose his job. Question 11 -- As an EMT have you ever touched a female patient more than your job required? He said NO and it came back as true IF you want to call the state of california here's the info State of California EMS Authority 1930 9th ST. Suite 100 Sacramento California 916-322-4336
  24. This Scumbag's name is Aaron Dunbar from Lancaster California. Let's start the phone calls to the state of California tomorrow.
