It doesn't matter. If a real leader shows up in the scene those clowns will bow down to them. If not, they won't last long.
  2. Have you ever seen THIS EMT drive?!?!?!
  3. Speaking of Tactical Medics: 1. How long does it take to be one if you are a paramedic already? 2. What exactly do they do? 3. How do you get to do it? From what I have heard it sounds interesting but some feedback from people who are Tactical Medics.
  4. Give it twenty or thirty years for medicine to catch up. It will happen one day. Just look at medics in the 70's and what they were allowed to do.
  5. Agreed, but when you watch the biggest looser, you realize that people who are very, very big aare capable of being a very healthy weight.
  6. At least Paramedics was not re-enactments. I can't stand re-enactments. They filmed a portion of Rescue 911 in my local hospital. A baby accidentally fell off a balcony near the top of a twelve story building. The baby shit his pants or something on the way down and the dirty diaper saved his life. THey took him to the hospital. There was not a single thing wrong with the kid. They cleaned all of the junk from the diaper off of him and sent him home.
  7. ^ yeah but there is a big difference between a peron who says it is not my fault wile they are munching on Bacon and the peroson who takes in 1000 calories a day and still gains weight.
  8. If it TRULY!!! means the difference between life and death for that patient, no I do not mind looking for a new career.
  9. Ahhh New York, I was in charge of a group for a band trip. That basicaly meant that I was an 18 year old in charge of protecting 8th and 9th grade kinds in Manhaten. I Ddd pretty well. I did loose a kid in Time Square station, and the same kid again on canal street, and he also nearly fell down about a 10 foot wall of rocks on the downtown side of central park. New York is a great place to visit, but I probably will never live there. In fact the tallest building I had ever seen till I went on a 36 hour bus ride to New York was only 25 stories high. Props to all of you New Yorkers, but I just could not handle New York full time. Great city though.
  10. A box of condoms and an air chisel... I win.
  11. This is a weird one I saw the other day. Keep in mind the VAN was covert with wooden TROLL carvings and had DEVIL HORNS on the top. "Save a Lolipop, Lick a Witch" Which brings us back to the topic of snowbirds.....
  12. I am no doctor, but I can tell you from personal experience that it does suck and you need to see a doctor. I used to play Bass trombone in High school. The weight of the heavy instrument in my left hand cased me to get something in it. It still worked enough so I could operate the instrument, but I had to tape it to my arm. I eventually realized that when I got pneumonia and did not hold the damn thing for two weeks that it was probably swelling in my carpal tunnels. Probably all it is for you, too. However, you cannot simply stop using that hand. You have to go to a doctor.
  13. Honestly, if there was a pt laying right in front of me writhing in pain, and the medic confirmed everything, I would not really having a problem pushing the drug. However I would not go and tell everybody about it. I will say that it happens here a lot more than people would like to admit. I will not say what, but I have heard of things being done that were so far out of the scope of practice that heads would roll if the right people found out. Have I done and intervention out of my scope? Never. But I do know many people who have.
  14. My grandmother is one of them. I can assure you that it is her own damn fault. She lays in bed all day and convinces different people to bring her fast food and Bacon. I can understand being overweight, but morbidly obese, absolutely not.
  15. I remember working 80 hours a week this summer... It really isn't that bad if you are single, have no social life and like the people you work with, but that never happens all at once.
  16. ^he is right though, everyone has to put it time at the bottom before they can be on top.
  17. You know... I would not at all be surprised to see a new level arise in EMS over Paramedic, maybe a Paramedic Advanced or Paramedic Practitioner. They would be allowed to push more drugs and perform more advanced procedures. This is only expected though since as technology expands the scope of practice expands too.
  18. Box of condoms, Vitamin C tablets, Magnifying glass, a fro wig, pickles, a turkey baster, beef jerky, and most improtant of all a bottle of Everclear
  19. I know around here we have lots of single funtion medic jobs availible with the county. If fact we have a huge shortage.
  20. Yeah, it's like my old instructor used to say...."If dey Got not breathin' and a pulse, CPR. If dey Got no Breathin' with a pulse rescue breath fo dem. If Dey got breathin' but a pulse...stab em in da heart with a stake cuz they just ain't right. yes....he was cajun
  21. The show moved to Discovery Health in the 6:00 et timespot, but it was replaced by "code blue" 2 moths ago. They were recent episodes though.
  22. ^I wonder if she eats veal... I hear they treat catfish pretty crappy
  23. exactly... You find a kid face down in a swimming pool and you should expect hypoxia cause by respiratory arrest leading to possible cardiac arrest if he was not found early enough.
