What kind of money do EMT's make?

so what started as one person asking about the pay turns into nurses against Medics.

Unfortunately, you completely missed the point here.

The point is not nurses vs. medics. It is education vs. training. I can tell you that the average medic is almost useless to me here. Despite all his "skills" and "protocol" training, he lacks the necessary education, medical and scientific understanding necessary to competently evaluate and assess patients and formulate an intelligent plan of treatment, unless of course the patient needs a traction splint or an ET tube.

And your situational analysis is too narrow to be valid. Requiring an AAS for medics in Oregon is not the end all of professional progress. It is merely the first necessary step that will eventually lead to the changes we hope for.

Try Canada, or more specifically; Try Saskatchewan, they are making good money, as long as you are in a full-time position, with overtime I know rookies making 40 plus.

The province has implemented a equalization plan and is looking to improve rural EMS and make pay equal to urban. If you get into a fairly busy rural service you can do well, plus it is cheaper to live.
