Nine-fifty an hour is $228/day. Nearly $28k/year. It's on par with the DFW area pay, and a damn sight more than what an EMT-B is worth. Especially with bennies.

I say you need to take into account the cost of living in the area to make that decision. Calibrate.

I'm not a pro on OK, but in Houston $9.50/hr. is a few pennies below average. Benefits are standard with most companies. Ask Rid, he should know.................................

You think that is bad, where I'm at in PA, all the ambulance services pay between $7.00-8.00 an hour for EMT's and shabby or no benifs. It sad that in this part of PA the EMS gets paid a little more than the teen fliping burgers at McDonalds. Where I work, we get about $9.50 an hour, but we are private service just for the local steel mill, and provide fire service too.

I get $10.50 an hour working for a contract Security Company as a EMT/Security Officer at a Steel Mill in Louisiana.

Noah I'm not sure about the type of trucks they run there but here they run ALS with EMT-B / EMT-P teams on every truck. Hope that helps.

Ah Dust, alway's playing the "Devils Advocate" I know a few "B's" that are worth the weight in gold, many climbing the ladder to the godlike "P" status... many work in the EMT/ALS relm of split service. We all like to make $$$

This is a Basic service with individual protocols at an industrial park. Our focus is to provide care with NO transport (basically first respond). Due to the call volume and the severity of injuries seen within the industrial park (55 businness) and the location we experience an average of 12 minutes response time from a transport service. Industrial park has its own fire/ems service, this also help with OSHA and Workmans Comp claims.

I make $15.24 an hour for a starting Per-Diem EMT. Full-timers start at $19 and get benefits, Per-Diems don't.

Your wages are ehh but benefits will attract some people.
