Rural Fire department volunteer or paid

were a big district we have three stations with four paid ff/paramedics at the one station however the rest of us are all volunteers and do it just because. however we have a lot of similar traits of a full paid station because of how strict we are

My neck of the woods has a little bit of everything.I belong to 2 fire depts.,1 is 100% volunteer and ONLY fights fires(no rescue/ems),the other has full-time,part-time,and volunteer people and is fire/rescue.We also have a 100% volunteer parish (county) wide ems/rescue unit that I belong too.The parish wide rescue unit came about because the vast majority of the fire depts. in this area only fight fires and have no ems/rescue training or equipment (yes I do live out in the sticks!).
