  1. I saw them at walmart the other day.

If you cannot get one I'd be happy to procure one at our local walmartacopia and send it off to you.

Well how sweet! I was never a normal kid when i was young, grew up around 3 brothers so i never played with normal things that little girls played with. I went through a major GI Joe phase though! haha!

  2. -5 for posting this in the wrong forum. It belongs in funny stuff.

Your stealing Dustdevils Job! also, this is in the funny stuff. Unless it was originally posted in the wrong topic category and the later moved here. dunno but that was funny! Lizard slinging though?? how bout drain the main vein? ;)

  3. Hate to break it to you all, but every hospital i've ever been at (and I've lived all over the US) I've only seen them take temps orally unless its a baby or small child then its rectally. Actually the ear thermometers are getting more and more common for ALL ages. Its scary, very scary only because of the inaccuracy. But i do agree with you R/R Sorry i don't have much to contribute to this topic but just thought i would share my observations. take care all :)

  4. I read that story and about died. lol! My mom works in Ottawa and we frequent the McDonalds there, whether its that one in the news story or not, i don't know but to my knowledge there is only 1 McDonalds in Ottawa  kinda funny story although I would be doing some serious ass beating if it was my kid. They could have at least let her keep the lighter and some of the weed as a souvenir  I'm sure that mom will need by days end

  5. I wish I had something intelligent to say that someone else hasn't already mentioned but from my own experiences is the only advice I can give. I had some tough preceptors that were from Chicago. I watched them reduce some of my classmates to tears and put others in pure fits of rage. But in all honesty, how are said classmates going to function under the stress of EMS if they cant handle those preceptors? What I did was just kept my head up and my mouth shut unless spoken to. It wasn't easy but it worked for me. A lot of times, constructive criticism is the best teaching tool and the things i messed up on I can guarantee I'll remember them for life! Keep your head up Dwayne, your very smart and will do just fine! I enjoy reading your posts and have full confidence in you. I send you many well wishes and my blessings! take care!

  6. I think the lift is a wonderful idea as long as it's not turning into a habit to use it on every patient. I think it would cut the risk of injuries to the EMT in half. There is always that chance of Lifting someone and boom your back goes out and then you drop the pt. Even though you've never had back problems before. So in that aspect i think it would be pro to have around. But the con of it is people would rely on it too much and 'forget' how to properly lift. If for some reason that lift should fail, you'd have to do it manually, lot of good you'd be if you forgot how to lift properly and you end up hurting yourself. But around here it seems i see a lot of patients dropped because the EMTs aren't helping one another in lifting or something else goes wrong. Another positive point is it would leave every pt reassured that they are not going to get dropped. But i still think its important that EMS crews know their lifting techniques. I know when I got taken to the hospital last week, the EMTs we're having issues with the cot and scared me into thinking they couldn't handle loading me into the back of the truck. Lay on the cot and have a couple buddies try and load you in. its a scary view when your the one laying on the cot
