  1. Thank you all so much! This has been quite the experience for me. But if I have one piece of advice to share with students, new EMTs just everyone in this service, its this: Never forget the feeling of uncertainty you felt when you first started.

I share this because of course i was absolutely elated when I found out I passed. I busted my arse and it paid off! But after the initial shock, I realized that i now have to put my knowledge to the test and get a EMT job. With that thought came the biggest feeling of "Oh my gosh can I do this?" well of course I can! I worked hard to get to where I am right now and there is still so much more learning to do! As a respected member of this site told me last night when I asked him about this uncertainty feeling going away, he replied "Yes it will go away, but you never stop learning and if you're at the point you know it all, go find a new job" I just needed to share that with you all and I really hope some of the new folks starting out see it. Thanks again everyone for your continued support and spiritual uplifting through the rough patches! God Bless!

  2. I go to the gym everyday and listen to the same stuff, JOCK JAMS! Thats exactly what they are called to. They have many different ones to choose from! lol! they used to sell them really cheap like at walmart or Kmart but you can download them off any file sharing program you prefer. they amp me up pretty good to the point mile 5 comes and treadmill, the treadmill is slowing down and its like "WHOA!" times fun when you're having flies!

  3. Okay this is kinda odd yet kind of funny...well to me. LOL  Thus, the reason it's in the "funny Stuff."

But under my screen name here, it calls me a "Sophmore." Did anyone besides me realize that "sophmore" is spelled wrong? I believe sophomore is the correct spelling :D Just some food for thought. :tongue8:

I just figured if a thread could be started about leaving the bathroom door open or closed, I could make this one

    I know I know "Jess get a life!" :glasses7:

  4. Now that everyone has tried to be moderator, this is in the funny stuff, so go with the flow. If you don't like it, or don't have anything to add, there is a lot more out there.

wellllllllllllll you did always teach us to utilize the report button  so we did! and now we are getting scolded for it and accused of trying to be moderators...you confuse me :D

*sits in the corner and plays with matches*

  5. I think everyones answers could safely be prefaced with if actually guilty. Yes there are false accusations and even wrong ID's made. There are also cases of rape victims withdrawing their statements to avoid the embarrassment and pain of reliving it. We all know that even some found innocent are actually guilty and some found guilty are actually innocent.

    agreed Spen.

I based my response on the fact he has not yet been found guilty of the crime stated. It's too easy to read these horrible things in new stories, point fingers as if the person is 100% guilty, hell i still think OJ is guilty but thats just my opinion lol

  6. I hope he rots too......Don't get me wrong, this guy should be caned then hung. I just wonder if he was a farmer or electritian if they would have mentioned twice what his job was and specificaly named the company he was working for.

I just found it odd that there seemed to me, to be alot of emphasis put on the ambulance aspect of this story.....But ya he should be beat on for a few hours by the families of the victims.

I cant agree with you more on everything.

  7. I don't think these rapes were done in the ambulance. It just states that he was an "Ambulance driver" at the time the crimes were commited.

I guess the just want people to think twice about trusting us!!

Yea because everyone is out to get us

Whether he committed the rapes in the ambulance or not, is irrelevant. Rape is Rape. Its a horrid horrid crime whether its done in an ambulance, to a child, to a 30 yr old, or in a church.

If he's found guilty, I hope he rots for it. There is never enough the justice system can do, to instill the pain, suffering, and mental anguish on a criminal that the criminal instilled on his or her victim. just my 2 cents

  8. Yeah, but you said the same thing about Missouri too, so that's not specific to Vegas.

The point is, except for those very few people who are within easy driving distance of STL or KC, it's going to mean significant travel for most of us. So why not make it someplace where food and lodging are cheap, and you can get a $99 dollar flight on Southwest almost any day of the week? It's about making this both affordable and attractive to the greatest number of people.

And Vegas does not exclude the under 21 crowd at all. Have you been there lately? The whole city is like a big theme park now. Hell, I'm way over 21, but I don't drink or gamble, and I still manage to have fun. And those who do want to go lose their money are welcome to do so too.

Actually I've not been there lately and didn't realize that. But besides that I wouldnt go to gamble and drink. I'm just looking at having a good time putting names with faces and gaining more friendships. Last time i was there, I was quite young and remember how boring it was for me lol! But this would be great!

  9. but jess in the real world some of us just cant drop our real life commitments and take off like that as good as it sounds its just not fesible to do. I for one would love to meet all of you all especially the ones that are "family" but right now with all the shit that is going on in my life i just cant make plans for all that travel time or expense. I would love to but i just cant do it. And I am sure others out there are in the same spot i am in.

    My 2 cents

    terr

Yea i'm quite aware of that. I have a job too even in the real world. So I know what your saying.

However, it was general statement that it does not matter where it is, not everyone is going to be able to show up because its too far. I You have to read into the point im trying to make...think about it for a bit..its not a bash on the folks that cant go and it has nothing to do with "Just dropping everything to go somewhere" it has absolutely nothing to do with that at ALL. The point i was trying to prove was, just pick a location and if people can show up thats wonderful, if they cant, that sucks maybe we'll meet some other time. You were talking about planning something for the East Coast folks so i didn't expect you to take offense to this. It surely wasn't my intention as I do realize, I know how it all works and know people cant just pick up and leave. that wasn't even being discussed. I'm sorry

  10. That is exactly why I am trying to persuade 'the powers that be' to have our wedding in Vegas. None of my friends are going to travel from Texas to Kalifornia for that. But nearly all of them would travel to Vegas for it. I mean, let's face it; most people -- male or female -- are only one excuse away from taking a trip to Vegas anyhow.

But yeah, I agree. Even though MO would be more convenient, more people would still probably show up in Vegas. Not to mention, getting flights to Vegas can be a lot cheaper than flights to mid America.

As for the drama, let's just not invite the chatroom drama queens.

Vegas would be hella cool! An Airline here offers a direct flight to Vegas from Peoria for around $150. It would cost more than that just to travel to St Louis or Kansas City by air or car. Vegas would be sooooo much better! Even though I'm sure most the activities we all will be involved in there would pretty much eliminates the under 21 folks...but who knows.

Although I don't think Las Vegas was even a destination of choice for this meet up cant we at least consider it? No matter where we have it someone, is going to say its too far and they cant go. Like Dust said "I mean, let's face it; most people -- male or female -- are only one excuse away from taking a trip to Vegas anyhow." :D So may as well just name a place and forget the voting stuff  Just my thoughts

  11. LOL! Years back, I got into a wreck a few blocks from my house. The engine crew that showed up were all friends of mine, and the medic went to medic school with me. The ambulance crew were both former partners of mine. The cop went to the police academy with me. At the hospital, the doc and the nurse were both former co-workers of mine. And to top it off, the woman who I collided with was the wife of our regional state EMS officer, who I had known for years. Now that is a REAL old home week!

Thats one hell of a family reunion there Dust!

  12. Saint Louis is better! :) I have a brother there, no hotel room fees for me! Although I do have a good friend in Warrensburg I haven't seen in a few years... hmmm....

I live a couple hours from St Louis, so I think I'll just bunk up in my car or with Brent HAHA! even though my car doesn't lock  But Yea St Louis would be cool because there is a lot to do there and I'm sure we could get some excellent and reasonable prices for things.

  13. I wouldnt suggest that, It would be WW3 for some people.

Thats assuming that every single person from this site showed up. But again, If people would act like adults, there would not be a problem. Things are a whole different ballgame in real life vs the internet..its all too easy to get big and tough behind a computer monitor and fight with people but I really foresee this being a decent outcome. Its a bit tougher to act in person the way some people act on here. Its all in the way people conduct themselves

  14. theyve talked bout this before and there are many of us from pa /ny/nj so that could also be an option
But Steph the whole point is for it to be a central location in the US

I'm all for having a meet up!

  15. Probably ranks right up there with Mad Dog 20/20. Worse kind of puked up booze you'll ever have on your shoes. :puke:

omg I could not agree with you MORE! I had a couple bad experiences with that. You would of thought I would have learned from yet the FIRST one. But I actually think Boones Farm is just as bad if not worse
