  1. I started working in EMS to help the people in need and ever since I started it's been great. Even thought, it's been only about 5 months since I receive my card. Next step is to become a paramedic and hopefually getting a phone call from FDNY EMS for a EMT position. I been working as a pharmacy tech for about 7 years and I just belive it's time for a career change.
  2. Job interview for a EMT-B position! YAY!!!

  3. Job interview for a EMT-B position! YAY!!!

  4. I think EMT city has a lot of members who are willing to give advice to new members. Which I totally think is awesome! I can see people easily get judge and rocked on quickly. things like that does not bother me, most of the nights I log on early in the morning I find people in the chat room which is cool cause then I can chat and vent out! No cons what so ever yet!
  5. I am just curious. Was it tough to find work in EMS agencies. I've had my cert for 2 months and nothing yet... Most places told me I need experience. I mean I am volunteering but not many calls come thru when I am doing hours. Maybe it's harder since I already have a full time job??? I would love to switch jobs but I feel the pay difference is lower for EMS. But then again I really want to move forward in a EMS career despite the pay difference For example, I get paid now 17.50 an hour at my current job. I keep hearing here in NY in the city of Yonkers the starting pay is around 11.00 an hour. Now has anyone ever been in a situation like this? I know for sure I am not doing EMS for the money. Please feel free to share your experience. Thanks in advance! Denny

  10. Sorry for the late response Erdoc. I just got back home from a stand by with my ambulance corp. At the corp we are using a standard PCR paper. I have not yet used a ePCR. Thanks in advance for everyone that is taking time out of their day to answer and respond. Thanks a lot for those links ERDOC, I will surely put them to good use.
  11. Where I work right now, I know a few officers who pull some overtime working as security at the hospital. I will ask them about writing a PCR. Dwayne, that is one hell of a PCR man!! Can that really all fit on the report?? Other than that it was fun reading it.
  12. Stand by 0900-1500 saturday morning with my ambulance corp! Can't wait!

  15. I really don't understand why is he still married.... I mean he goes thru so much work just to sleep with other women. Why not just stay single and be a bachelor. (my opinion) But then again I am only 24 year year old married guy. Been married for 4 years now and I have never cheated before. I mean why bother and why ask for so much stress and nonsense useless drama arguments.(my opinion)
  16. That's awesome asecrest. Unfortunately It's been almost 1 week now and no call back from any job yet. But I have faith something is going to come thru soon.
  17. Welcome Cheryl! Nice of you to join the CITY!!
  18. Alaska WOW! one of the place I would love to visit. WELCOME TO THE CITY!!
  19. @Dwayne I thought in order to complete a paramedic program you first have to have your state EMT card first? @ chik That's awesome that you want to be a medic. I am also fairly new to the CITY! as of right now I don't have much to offer to the table because I am a new EMT. But I can tell you that member of the CITY are very quick in answering questions and giving you advice. I do too want to become a paramedic in the near future. It has always been a passion of mine but i guess I was scare to move onto another career!! But one foot at a time and now I'm a EMT. Fellow Paramedics that I know also told me to at least have some experience as an EMT first before you actually move onto paramedic. But enough of my chit chatting and WELCOME TO THE CITY!
  20. Alright, my EMT class did not emphasize on the PCR subject so much as I think they should have. Now i went on google to look for a good (How to do a good PCR) But I really did not find anything. Now, I know a little to a PCR but not as much as I should know. Does anyone have a good link to a website about PCR and explaining it. Thank you.
  21. Yeah I heard from a lot of people that EMS workers don't get paid as much as they deserve to. Around here in NY I think we get started with/between 11-14 (EMT) I know that's not a lot. I am actually a pharmacy tech and I make 18.50 an hour. (why am I doing EMT?) Well because I want to help out people who need help. I want to get that feeling of accomplishment when someone says Thank you when I save a life. (and well i want to become a paramedic) Right now I am doing this part time and perdium and also volunteering. A lot of people complain that the work is hard for the little pay we get (but why still do it?) because most of us probably and hopefully still do it because we love to help out. This is my opinion and I am sure someone will disagree , so please, go right ahead.
  22. Once i saw this video all I can say was WOW!! I mean that is amazing. Wonderful thing how everybody got together in front of a burning object and risk their life to save a life. But, being a new EMT and all the time they kept teaching us about C-spine man did they really do the guy a favor by dragging him out? If his C-spine was compromise I'd say it definitely made it worst. ( I could be wrong, if so please correct me) The cop started out doing a good thing by holding C-spine., but then he let go!!!
