  1. I understand. What I forgot to mention was they told him to wait until 21. Maybe I misunderstood him.
  2. Wow. It does take a while to calm them down. It is interesting to see these people think the worst and imagine anything and everything,
  3. Ahh looks like it was. Sweet Weird, I worked for with some one last month and he told me he was waiting until 21 to apply FDNY.

  5. I just love how active this topic is. It's great to see so many hobbies that people have and do.
  6. Jeez. You have to be 21 to work FDNY. Some companies also. But not all. Simple
  7. Hey gang, sorry I been out of touch lately but working these jobs takes a lot of my time. Other than that it's going great. I been doing a lot of different transports jobs. Like a lot of you say, It's a great way to get your assessment skill higher and that's what I been doing. I learn so much about the PT just by reading the file and taking a quick peep at the PT. Today was one of those days, I transported a Psych PT. I mean, I transported a PT with dementia before but, this one just got out of hands.(but we handle it well). The ride was long of course. PT said she has sever anxiety at some points. (alright, good to know) During transports she just starts to have a panic attack and we are stuck in traffic. I was driving and my partner was in the back. She was not violent what so ever. We tried to make her feel as comfortable as she can be. Which worked but only for a few minutes at a time. She complained of being thirsty, hot, pain, uncomfortable,SOB,having a stroke, claustrophobic. It was a long ride so yeah, every minute was a different story. Did everything we can do and she was feeling better at times but It just went on and on and on. As far as the pain, according to the RN back at the pick up location "it was all in the head" I talked to her the whole way to the hospital during transport while helping my partner calm her down. Some how my voice just made her feel better. Did I mention that she knew who she was, where she was and where she was going. (Yeah I know) she started to get worst as soon as we left her off at the hospital. Interesting day it was for us today. Denny.
  8. Welcome! I'm still trying to find out how to upload photos also. I still Have not found a way..
  9. LOAD AND GO. I have no personal experience with chest pains, yet. But sounds like a LOAD AND GO will have to do. I mean, is their a certain way to tell a PT they are having a AMI?

    Finally.

Thanks for the advice! HAHAH totally understand, thanks! Thanks DFIB. So far I am!
  11. that's a good one. I would figure everyone on this website has EMS as a hobby. Considering this is a EMS forum and we do chat most of the time about EMS. But, yes. EMS is considered one of my hobbies also. I find it amazing and interesting.
  12. Hey welcome to EMT CITY Charmed. Glad to have you as a member! Feel free to start a topic. A bunch of us are friendly and will keep up a conversation.
  13. http://emstraumajunkie.tumblr.com/speech My EMS company gave us a copy of this link in paper. I read it and it was amazing. The truth about us EMS worker and why we do it Read it, share it, embrace it. I definitely love what I do and every PT smile counts whether is a 911 call or a transport or just a plain old head ache. Denny.

    Finally.

Well, all of the orientation process for both EMS companies are finally complete. That was 6 total days ( 3 each EMS companies) of long long long long and lots lots lots lot or hours and paperwork. Let me not forget the 50 year old videos that were shown to us. I have set up 5 shifts of tour dates, to ride a long. Super excited. I also have 1, 18 hour shift to do this Sunday! 7am-1am. This will be my first 18 hour shift working on the rig. Wanted to share that with you guys. As my time grows with my transportation gigs, I will surely keep posting my adventures to be a great EMT like the rest of EMT CITY. Denny Finally
  16. Ah I see your academy training is complete. Welcome to the city!! If you decide to stay of course. I have not yet been accepted for FDNY. I hope in the near future they will call me. So I have absolutely no advice for you my friend. One of my friends must have been with you as he got the call to join couple of months back. I believe he was in the green team! Congratulations!
  17. What the hell happen to this topic. Illegal right turn it made... I see that everyone assumed that Kiwimedic is a medic. I guess I was the only one that asked Kiwi if he was a medic? That can easily happen considering his handle name and the great knowledge Kiwi has for EMS. I was in chat with kiwi one time. I like kiwi, he makes me laugh all the time and I always love what he has to say. One hell of a imagination he has. Just like most of the people here. So I did ask. He said he is not a medic. I never did wonder why I never asked why the medic at the end of Kiwi until now. It really does not bother me. A handle is a Handle. My brother gaming handle is Violenterror. Does that mean he is a violent terrorist (bad example I know) lol it made me chuckle. Also for the record. this dude Robert, has not yet answered. Something fishy about that. No respect in my book. Well that was my 2 cents. Denny
  18. I took it almost 2 weeks ago. It was not hard at all. Just very BORING! But I did payed attention cause it does make you drive safe. As for the test. The test it self was not hard. Remember the 'cushion of safety' is your friend. Welcome to the city! Denny
  19. Yeah, sucks big time what EMS workers get paid. I have 2 jobs as an EMT now and both pay 11.00 and 11.50 and hour. Working at target gets you more... Does not make sense what so ever. But then again, The down time of EMS sometimes is great. 12 hour shift 1 call still getting paid.
  20. Wow that's awesome. If you happen to capture a photo of the eagle I would love to see them.
  21. Thanks kiwi. I'm sure I can. Anything is possible.
  22. Welcome to the city!. Yes, I have heard about the program you are entering. I am from NY. They have good instructors and the class schedule is flexible for anyone. As far as getting a job. I receive my cert Sept 2011, and I am just now going through the pre employment process with my EMS company. It really should not take as long as it took me. I for one, have a full time job already.(which is why it took me a while to find one) and was offer a full time job with my EMS city but I did not want to work full time. So it did take a little longer to find a perdium or part time spot. Other than that. Good luck with your program. It should be a blast.
  23. Thanks DFIB. As far as the chicks, I have to keep it PG for a while LOL
