  1. Wasn't Alexander the Great gay? One of the greatest generals in the history of war... Why does sexuality have to be an issue for people? Without going into the history of homosexuality or anything like that.. these feelings have nothing to do with anyones ability to do anything. Their aspirations and ambitions to do the tasks at hand are what determines their success.
  2. well I am not seeing anything... every other website works fine but this one.. *shrugs*
  3. Is it just me, or is the banner gone, peoples avatars, many of the buttons such as the stuff to bold face, insert links, give +/- feedback. All of that seems to be missing from my page. I refreshed, deleted cache/cookies... *shrugs*
  4. I got a speeding ticket today... I want a refund on the sticker price I paid for the Jeep... because it is the vehicles fault.
  5. I give negative feedback to poor quality posts and obvious trolling. If there are negatives.. it sets off red flags to other unknowing readers that something is up. Given, this fella did get a lot of negatives.. but obvious troll is obvious. He will make a new name and troll again later, if he hasn't done so already.
  6. Put a razor blade in the AED pack or duct tape If I remember correctly, contact must be made to the skin and will do so through hair. But if there is A LOT of hair, it should be mostly removed. The electricty should travel through the hair.. since hair follicles are just dead skin cells anyway (similar to the epidermis) why wouldn't it work? Given, it might smell a bit. I do not know enough about electricty to confirm this though. But if I can feel a tingle when my foot is touching the cot with thick leather boots, wool socks.. some hair should not be an issue.
  7. Trolls will be trolls.. but they aren't trolls until they are outted as trolls by people such as us doing the outting by posting.
  8. the word you are looking for is "you're". Given I am not much of a grammar nazi, but if you are to insult someone or make fun of "their" intelligence, you should at least not look like a fool yourself. Just saying...
  9. If you are butthurt for not getting a free hand out for volunteering... you are in the wrong business. Volunteering is about helping the community and serving the people in need of YOUR help; not looking to get something for free. Times are tough, people can't give out free products all the time. Get over it.
  10. try the international forum or look at the member location page
  11. Also whining over and over will get you no where. Congratulations... you got your money back for failing a program before it was closed up. Way to make your profession look good... oh wait, never mind.
  12. Well.. the law is the law. Also, you could see reflections of other units in the smoke when the arrived.
  13. But it's fun to poke fun at silly people and watch them put their foot in their mouth. It's like watching the really drunk guy try lighting a cigarette.. pure comedy.
  14. Well.. aside from responding without lights or sirens... approaching an accident without properly identying things from a distance... you could clearly see smoke and a tank in the video from a distance. Getting out and checking for survivors.. not informing dispatch.. and whatever else everyone else mentioned... Very sad indeed. Please people.. use your head. Don't get tunnel vision. Use the ERG, use the binoculars. Don't make yourself another victim. Don't be selfious.. you have loved ones at home.
  15. Go to an ambulance station and interview someone there. Sure, this forum is a good place of resources to learn some things... but we aren't here to do your homework.
  16. Whenever we would get a dispatch for a "breathing problems" the additional information ALWAYS included "patient sweaty and or changing colors". I ask which one.. and what color. It's always funny when you get a cocky reply.. then a supervisor calls you on the radio to have you call the center after the call.
  17. Good find. There was something similar to this going around awhile ago... only it was for the "other" beaver. After some looking around it appears to be no longer available.
  18. Sorry for your loss and for all your family and his friends. He did a great thing for our country by protecting our freedom. He will always be remembered for that.
  19. Surly there are quite a few POV's from the womans prospective and karma will come to bite me in the ass for posting that article.
  20. Seen it too often when crews don't call for help with lifting (even the well known biggins). They will come back to the station complaining about how heavy they were and how they are sick of transporting them. Well.. people were around to come help! But that is besides the point. The OP is asking what to do if you have no help. I have to agree with what fiznat said. But if you are "immobilizing" them I would assume you are talking about neck/back injury. You don't want to screw around with moving them around to get them up and lifted. If you have one of those slider boards.. they work really great for moving heavier patients. Also, use leverage if at all possible. Tie a sheet through the back board handles and run up to your arms and tie it together.. putting your arms through and create a fulcrum. Like everyone else has said too.. if you can't get FD.. try for PD.. if not them.. fire police.. even bystanders if need be. DO NOT hurt yourself doing this. Last thing you need is adding yourself to the patients list. If you have to wait for help.. then wait. If no help will come... then ask bystanders. I am sure any responsible employer/service/county will find SOMEONE to come help you. edit: commercial lifting straps.. and yes they do actually help a lot
  21. hey how have you been??
