I read your post about your strange shoulder pain after a particularly long CPR. I, unfortunately, found my best friend sitting in a chair after apparently aspirating and asphyxiating. He was about 225 lbs. I picked him up out of the chair, dragged him across the room to have room to work on him, and then performed CPR until help arrived. I've since (6 weeks now) had really sharp pains in the top of my shoulder when I lift my arm upward. Even reaching for the turn signal in my truck hurts, and sleeping sucks royally. Did you ever find anything that worked to relieve it, or see a doc about your pain? I'm pretty sure it's my AC joint, but nothing on xrays. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sorry to hear about a your friend. Those are hard calls.
I did get resolution of my pain with some NSAIDs and Arnica gel. My Dr did an MRI and XRays and both came back negative. It was just inflammation of the joint. I have had prior shoulder injuries from when I was younger so we feel it was an aggravating factor.
Try some OTC pain reliever and also try to limit the motion. I slinged mine for a long weekend and it seemed to help.

Was up all night on a SAR. Before that was an internal defib going haywire. Interesting night to say the least.

Worked Irene from start to finish on my 48 weekend =) Squad never stopped running, we answered all calls! Proud of my guys. BTW I will never complain about the 3am toe calls. Try it in 45mph winds, blinding rain in a home without power at night. Was interesting to say the least.

OK I officially have "tremor envy" I didn't feel anything damn it. Well at least I have a Hurricane heading my way =) Should be a good duty weekend for me, my first 48 since I came off medical leave =) BTW anyone else have REM stuck in their heads??? Starts with an earthquake... eye of a hurricane... yup I feel fine LOL

Yup I am doing my 48 this weekend and we are getting slammed with Irene. I am living the song LOL So if anyone sees a 4x4 Rig on TV from NJ its probably me LOL Cant wait for the stomach pain, broken toe, finger laceration calls while a hurricane is raging outside. Guess the 3am ones won't be so bad from now on LOL

Yup, had one Wednesday night. SAR team dispatched for two hikers injured. Turned out to be one hiker and his dog. The dog was exausted and dehydrated. Went from EMT to Vet LOL BTW the dog is fine, gave a it a little water and some O2 with our Canine NRB. Owner was RMAed LOL Wierdest call sheet I have ever written. "PT was unable to communicate due to language difference, crew followed implied consent protocols."

My grandmother passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning after a very long battle with Alzheimer's. She joins my grandfather, who passed in 2005. Will always love you Mimi.

Well yesterday was a bust. Showed up fro duty and was notified I wasn't cleared for duty by the Captain. Apparently my Doctor's note was insufficent. Going to the Doc's today to get a better one. To top it all off my cat scratched my eye and I feel like Popeye today =(
