  1. Yes embellished to protect the inept providers And yes I have a scanner in my car that is programmed to every fire and ems channel in every state. I run to them every chance I hear them. Even if it's 5 states over. I have tremendous reception.
  2. using the cell phone in the restroom gives a whole new meaning to shi&&^itty reception.
  3. Remember, experience is a wonderful teacher And Necessity is not always the mother of all invention. But sometimes the back in my day tip does ring true. Back in my day we used to use two tow trucks to pull apart the car to get the patient out but now we use the fancy hurst tool. That lesson is a valuable lesson.
  4. I hate hearing myself speak. I also speak softly or find a private place to talk.
  5. well the rudeness I guess was the fact that the guy called me an ahole for answering him One story away from this topic had a guy discussing patient info while he was sitting in the airport. It was so loud that I could hear him which I was about 50 or so feet away. I decided to start writing down things he said. Once he was done, I walked over to him and showed him what I wrote and where I was sitting. To say the least that he was humbled I think was an understatement. For the rest of the time he was in the terminal he talked softly. Not sure it it was a permanent lesson for him but hey, I hope it was. I just think it's kind of funny that people think that their phone calls are so important and they can't wait so they feel nothing about using the bathroom when on the phone. It's just silly.
  6. yes private satisfaction. But pride goeth before the fall
  7. that's what I'm getting at. If I was a client and someone I was paying good money to was talking to me and I heard someone say something like I did or someone Farted really loud which sometimes in bathrooms they can hear that or if I heard multiple flushes of the toilets then I'd be having a conversation with that person. Plus you are talking on your phone, you wipe your bottom, you then touch your phone with your hands and you have just made your phone super nasty. I just find it RUDE
  8. no I don't agree with your premise. Remember that most kidnappers take their victims to a place known to them. It's not a random thing(some may be though). If the kidnapped person is not found within 24 hours I think the fatality rate is very very high. I think that the odds of a kidnapper getting caught in a speedtrap is so miniscule that it needs to be taken out of the equation all together.
  9. I agree Spenac, Chbares curriculum was really really good. The level of detail in his curriculum was excellent.
  10. I have seen this more and more. I'm in the airport and in the bathroom doing whatever I do and invariably I see people walking in talking on their cell phones. Does anyone see a problem with that. sorry for the TMI factor for the next: As a matter of fact, one night at around 1045 pm I was in a stall doing my business and a guy got in the stall next to mine. He said "HI how ya doin" and I was surprised, I said "Pretty good" he then said, "how was your day" and I said fine and he said "No honey, it's some assH03le sitting next to me" well I was pissed. So I loudly said "God dangit look at the size of that Turd that Asshole left in this stool" The guy immediately said Bye. He wasn't very happy. Does anyone else make nasty comments in the bathroom if someone is on their phone?
  11. The winner of the contest is Chbare. I am still working on who gets 2nd place and who gets third place. The winner of the shortest class is Spenac. If he could have only got the course down to a week he'd have won the First place prize.
  12. I must have missed that Chbare. You are correct. I just re-looked at your curriculum
  13. But I also didn't see any reference in admission requirements of the school a spelling test. I think that a spelling test is an integral part of any admission process. If you can't spell then there needs to be a class they take for spelling. I truly dislike spelling errors, not saying I'm perfect but some spelling errors should never happen.
  14. Terri You FAIL, it's statistics not statics??? ha ha ha ha ha
  15. I don't believe that in any of the classes listed in the contest there was even a remote mention of statistics classes. But for SSM you would need the statistics class wouldn't you.
  16. I always went this way Treat lifethreats first - ABC compromised then treat and fix but if I'm able I always got the 12 lead first. Remember, any intervention we do like ASA, Nitro, IV, Oxygen can ellicit a change in the 12 lead so I always(mostly) got a 12 lead first prior to anything else. That's why there are two of you all there. One to do the 12 lead and the other to get the other stuff ready to put on the patient. Once the 12 lead is done then truly how long does putting oxygen on the patitnt take? If you are lucky to have 37 people and a dalmation there to help you out then all your equipment should be ready for the end of your 12 lead. I do agree that oxygen can change the 12 lead. I've seen a patient's 12 lead change just with the administration of oxygen.
  17. I had some guy put a gun to my head and said go to www.emtcity.com and post this. So I did. I've been a member ever since. Here's my first post I've worked both types of services. I truly enjoyed the rural ems experience because you are it out there. Transport times vary from in the small town I was working at would be 5 minutes to the hospital all the way up to 1 hour if we went all the way to the southwest county line area. Anything significantly bad would be flown out eg trauma or major cardiac illness. I've also worked urban ems where total call time might be 20 mins total. And yes you can get an assessment and treat the patient in that time and provide excellent care even though some say it's Wam bam medicine.
  18. If I drive by a speed trap I thank the stars they didn't get me but will I warn the other drivers? nope not a chance. I'm not a early warning system. I have many cop friends and I want them to stay employed, plus I love donut so when the cops are employed the donut shops stay busy. It's a win win
  19. you didn't get the joking did you? I was trying to make a funny
  20. If they had hoods on how do they know who it was?
  21. and lets not forget, that really everything is verifiable. if I have your IP address I can find out a whole lot about you. If you give me more information like where you work, what city you work in and what level certification you are I can find out as much about you as I need to verify your statements. I have checked up on a number of items that people have posted in the chat rooms and found most of them reliably true but some were not. you have to remember, what you say can and may come back to bite you. Case in point, this story Miss America contestant, thought that the pictures she took wouldn't get to anyones attention. WRONG http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original...212157118.shtml anything you post on your my space page, faithfreaks page, friendster page or even on this forum can be found and retrieved. If you don't believe me I can probably find it.
  22. You mean you want me to bring all 7 pieces of your luggage to the ER?
  23. I'll also relate a Feel like an ass moment Had a 31 year old female from an accident(MVA) She was c/o hip pain only. She was also a very needy patient and was whimpering a lot so I sort of wrote her off as one who was not so hurt. I did not give her the evaluation that I have always been proud of and we got her to the ER. She laid on a board for over 2 hours while the others from her wreck(three fatalities in the 2nd car) She was very stoic and didn't really talk much. About an hour after she got off the board her pressure bottomed out, she went unresponsive and coded. It turns out that this patient had one of her arteries in the pelvis lacerated and she was slowly bleeding out. She finally decompensated enough to crash. We never got her back. She was actually the 5th fatality from that wreck. One of the worst I've ever worked.
  24. Cut off Date for contest entries Monday July 14 at 23:59 There have been some excellent courses posted yet I'd like to see more. Have fun.
