  1. I have my "Essentials of fire fighting" thats all I need to fight fires, now I have other training like of course EMT,CPR, Confined space rescue, trench rescue and others.

My dept wants everybody to have FF1 by January 2010, I personally think its a money hungry thing, my president/LT told me at my fire dept that to get grants we have to have so many FF1 trained guys or we wont get any. Im happy with what I have.

  2. Well, watching the weather channel, it looks like New Orleans dodged a 'direct hit'!

Now we need to watch hurricane Hanna, ...

According to projections, she's gonna hit somewhere between Jacksonville, FL and Hilton Head, SC...

This means I'm looking right down the barrel on this one!

    Thank You Brett NOAA.......lol.... :D

  3. My company sent 3 trucks down with 2 medics and 4 EMTs, very dumb, we have no employees here and have blown so many calls. Personally we should be worried about our town and contracts

We sent 10 down for Katrina, 6 came back sick after a series of shots, no thank you, Ill pass.

Good luck to all that go down!

  4. Ok so got to relax? Right? And whats a good way to get practice? Talk to others in the filed? Should I do more secinarios? Ask another EMT or Medic if I can practice on them? I work as a Vehicle Service Tech (VST) I clean, wash, stock, and gas the Ambulance.

Spelling would be a great start....

  5. Yes, good luck on your EMT class but please remember it's not rocket science. Go deeper in the items that are giving you trouble. You will find that EMT class is not as hard as you are making it out to be.

For every 1 hour of class time spend at least 1 hour studying or better yet 4 hours. That's the number they use in college.

If you need additional resources I can probably find them for you on the net so pm me and I'll try to help.

If they are talkking about the heart you should learn about the cardiovascular system but don't go overboard and try to learn EKG's and such. That's extraneous crap you won't need until medic school

oh yeah, make sure to have fun.

And one other thing, post questions here often if you ahve them. Don't be afraid to pm those you trust with questions.

Its not rocket science??? Aw man....
