We were just discussing that in chat. We were all wondering why the called EMS in the first place the news story never really said why they were at his residence.

No matter what the reason its a tragedy and one that can hit home us at any given minute when we go out on a call. Makes one check their own mortality and the jobs we do as EMS workers.

you are right, we take this job as routine, when in fact it is often very dangerous. Which is why I intend on maintaining the ambulance crash log throughout the year. Alot of people think it is a dumb thread, but accidents are still our number one killer, yet when we drive we do not drive like we could die at any minute.

Hopefully in the days and weeks ahead, we will find out more details about why this murder happened, and hopefully, everyone will be just a little bit more careful because of it.

Death penalty. No need for a trial. He did it. Take him out back, and shoot him. Save the tax payers some money.
And what lesson is that going to teach him? He'll never have to worry about the problem again while the EMT's friends and family suffer the loss for years. Naw, don't let him get off that easy.

But what if he killed someone that wasnt in EMS would you still as strongly as you do? What if he had some underlying mental condition that caused him to snap for some unknown reason and he really didnt know what the hell he was doing? A tragic blow to EMS yes but we should treat everyone not as they are infectious but also as a potiential threat to our own life and that of our partners and anyone else that maybe in the line of fire.
