No your wrong. As I stated above, with a 33.3% decrease in function after 40, we must conclude that at 20 function is much higher. Therefore we should be recruiting as young as possible. EMT school should start at 12 to maximize this potential. No point in arguing with the facts, this will save lives.

Oh sure and then we'd have all that unprofessional sex in the station after watching porn and HBO. And if they're not having sex all that pent up energy will go to awful practical jokes that will KILL PATIENTS! When are you guys going to open your eyes and see that having medics over 40 is killing people. Be honest with yourselves and you'll see I'm right.

Ak you want to challenge me? :D I still lift, outrun, read those EKG's. screw the lines, intubate where the babes cannot... as well answer the medical questions that they have no idea about.

I witness 25 year olds that are "worn out" .. although I admit it gets rougher each day.

I will admit, I get more pleasure seeing a new medic I taught or precepted perform well and increase their knowledge, than to "run" the big one anymore.

I fully intend to stay in this profession past 45 if I am physically capable and mentally stable enough to do so even though I will be eligible to retire at 38. I know several medics that are around 50 that I respect and would run with anyday over a younger medic because they are more mature and knowledgeable. Also, some can outlift our younger medics and generally have a better work ethic than the current younger medics in general. Perhaps this is just my general area and not the case in other areas, but I think forced retirement is a bad idea and rather retirement requirements should be based on the individual, not the age.

Did you take this thread seriously? Did you miss the joke or sarcasm?

Sure...forced retirement might be a good thing. Just like there should be a law that when you reach 70...you should be killed (humanely). Really, do you know anyone who is 70 or older and USEFUL?

I agree. Now go start your own thread, do not hijack mine!

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
