  1. YeP! Ride alongs are allowed. I'm not sure how it works with the FDNY, but 2leads covered that already. And it probably IS a pain in the ass with them as with anything else related to them when it comes to paperwork. But check out the different hospitals, they are fairly easy, you just have to fill out a sheet and get them to copy some ID. Cabrini hospital does them and they are real quick to get you a bus if you just talk to the EMS supervisors there. NY Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian does them also. And yep, these places all have 911 buses that are "FDNY Participants." G'luck.
  2. thanks for the explanation dust, I see what your saying now.
  3. Ny Presbytarian hospital (Cornell at 70th st) John Jay.... La Guardia.... The main ones in nyc I think
  4. Most people in my service carry the belt clip ons. The silver "sheilds" and the gold NYPD gold style badges. The ones on galls and on many sites that I've seen look like sheilds that security personal and some small town police officers wear. If I were to choose one, I'd be looking into the ny state emblem badge, but I've been having trouble finding them online. But i'd have to agree that like the vehicle ID's they would be more for off duty use... and thanks ditch... I'm just here asking about the subject. Some of these subjects at times seem a bit taboo to some of u guys.. get kind of defensive and just shoot out that I'm just trying to be a "buff" or some wanabe... but in all honesty you guys have been really good about it and have been a great help. After all, I did start leafing around here before I even went to tech school
  5. whew ok guys, I get it! I'm fairly new to the ems community and i'm just getting used to it, thanks for the advise. I'm gonna go ask a supervisor to see if they require it. (Although I doubt they do since u did make the point that they should give it if they require.
  6. Boy, this is gonna make me look like some random guy trying to get stuff n pretending to be an EMT with this post and the other about car ID's. I'm currently working for a private company, which does not issue badges to their employee's. They require, or suggest, not sure, one of my partners just told me to get me one. I know some places (but not so close to home) I was wondering if anyone knew of any good online places. I'm lookin for the gold style, not the silver.

    Trauma Care

I've heard this from people / my instructor that trauma's are BLS jobs too.. I see the intubation argument, and also, 'scuse my ignorance on the ALS side but don't early IV lines replenish the lost blood/hydration quickly and ensure a higher survival rate? Or does this not make that much of a dif.
  8. Good point , 4got to mention, I was mainly speaking about the personnel living in city orientated areas, and suburban area's near cities.
  9. just wondering.. whats up with Americans/ems personell and huge ars cars/suv/trucks and their big engines? It's not like your going to speed across all terrain mountains to get to an emergancy scene... :?
  10. As a EMS provider and freelance journalist.... ( 1) That picture would be worth thousands... lol  And for the answer to the other question... Sibling..
  11. By telemetry, I think* she may be talking about recieving online orders?
  12. wow, that's 70% of smokers. Its funny how so many doctors and other health care workers such as EMS smoke when they know all the risks involved. I guess it gets kind of stress full... I quit 3 months ago. I'm hoping to keep it that way...
