  1. Happy St. Paddy's Day (as we used to say it in NY)
  2. One was a first responder. The other was a pastor.
  3. There's a great instructional video on YouTube. Too bad I don't know how to attach it here. It's easy to find. It really shows how easy it is to use and how effective it is.
  4. Does anyone ever use the chat? I can't even get into the room.
  5. I haven't read all of the posts (have to go to work),so forgive me if someone has already posted this, but I do know of a great agency made up of first responders. Someone is there 24/7 to talk to and possibly give vetted referrals to those that need local help....someone to talk to. I've called them before and they are fantastic. It's called safe call now. safecallnow.org. Just putting it out there. They helped me recently with this very topic. I attended the funerals of two friends, this past weekend, that committed suicide. Something that people are reluctant to talk about is survivor guilt. "Why didn't I see?" "Why wasn't I there?" "Could I have done more?"
  6. Has anyone used the i-gel airway? It seems like a much easier option than King or others. No inflatable cuff, less tissue trauma, less chance of aspiration, easy insertion......... Thoughts? Experiences?
  7. I started out on this forum and then tried the village. Maybe I wasn't experienced enough to feel like I could contribute...not sure. I then went on to EMTLife and that seemed to click for me. I'm back here now to see if it "fits". I've finished my education, been working and am going on to medic school. Maybe now I'll actually have more words of wisdom and less tainted with ignorance to contribute. Having said that, I echo what Ruffmeister said. These types of forums seem to ebb and flow. People come and go and come back again.
  8. I signed up for this site before even going to school. I have not been back until now and am an EMT working on getting into medic school. Just wanted to say hello and I hope to meet many of you and maybe even make a friend or two. I'm looking forward to learning and contributing and maybe even inspiring those that are new.
  9. I'm new to the EMT world and need some boots. (Women's) Any suggestions are welcome. I've looked at the 5.11 Tactical, but they seem kind of pricey compared to some of the others. Ideas?
  10. I think I might be kind of a "nerd" but I got my book (Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured) early and have started studying even though my classes don't start til June 2nd. I really want to be a part of the EMT community right now. I live in the Phoenix area and would love to connect with anyone that is willing to give advice to me or whatever.
  11. I will be starting EMT classes at the beginning of June and am really excited about what lies ahead. I hope I have what it takes to be a good EMT. I guess I won't know until I get out there. I'm a little older than the other students, so I'm kind of nervous about how they will see me. I'm so happy to be a part of the EMT community!
