  1. OK, I should not have put religion in the topic, but generally, assasination is wrong, yes or no ?

Nope, all depends on the context...this is where we start getting into the greater good and the needs of the many versus the few, etc, etc....there is no black and white with these questions.

I mean god assassinated his son after all for the same reasons...so the precedent has been set, no?

  2. The innate human condition preaches against murder...it is a human thing which pre-dated religion despite their proclamations to the contrary.

As for his vague comment "that everyone was in an uproar" I am not sure to what specifically he is referencing. Were we upset, sure we were. Did we make the statement that we would never do such a thing...not at all.

  3. *****Attention Flight Medics and Flight Nurses********

Looking to see who has short term deployment availability for a rapid mobilization project. Contract is NOT yet awarded, but need to know staffing capability. Up to 100 casualties need to be transported out of Libya to Dubai. PM with availability and we will go from there. You MUST have a USA Passport in hand. Thanks

Please do not hit me with a million questions at this time. Either you are possibly available, can make yourself available or you are not interested. The dates are going to be immediate obviously if you read the news. I am currently talking with Libyan government officials.

Pay is yet to be determined but will be commensurate with this type of work. Everything will be paid for.

I am trying to find out who has a high level of interest, the necessary skills/education and the willingness to drop everything on a moment's notice for this mission.

YOU MUST HAVE A PASSPORT !!!

(AND NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO GET ONE).

  4. I agree with you Dwayne, not sure how anyone can believe in Jesus, but I would say that it was not religion that caused this, but it was instead man's interpretation of their religion. All religions (except Mormons, Scientologists, and Amish) have a fringe element that hijack their religion.

I cannot speak on the Scientologists....but the Mormons and Amish both have fringe groups...do you know how many different Mormon branches there are? All the splits which have occurred including the hostilities and violence accompanied with those splits??

The Amish have just as many sects with different practices and beliefs...

  5. Thanks for the support, but this is not about me, let us not forget the man who posted the original thread and who the original thread was about. How is our OP doing? I am doing ok, but are we there for Asys? Anyone chatting with him?

  6. Brother I hear ya but doing the old should've, could've, would've mental fuck exercise does no one any good.

This was my FB status a few days ago and it is relevant now: "There's nothing sadder than living for your death. This is what religion necessitates, this is why I am who I am. The idea that death is even "sad" is religiously influenced. Religion often forces people not only to deny the possibility of death by inventing the idea of an "afterlife," but also asserts that unless this afterlife exists, life is pointless. So they end up not even appreciating all the real things in this life."

I am not turning this into a religious thread, but the point is we need to live every day and cherish the here and now...say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done. This is how I live and I am quite comfortable with any of my friends or family dying or myself dying because I have left them with the knowledge of what they mean to me and how I feel about them. At this point in time, I have very few things left unsaid to very few people and those which remain are being achieved one by one without undue delay.

It sucks but please do not sit around second guessing or thinking what may have been...it is unhealthy for yourself and disrespectful to the dead. Just move forward from here on out and do not allow any repeats.

  7. Well we can speculate on both sides all day, neither of us have true statistics, but if you believe that there has only been one qualified female candidate in just that county, and the surrounding rural counties that border it, IN 40 YEARS, I believe it would be you that would be asinine. I worked for a rural county with a population of 6k in the whole county, and they had 4 female firefighters, and 3 female EMT/medics. I guess the entire gulf coast is uterine-free. And you should know better than anyone, firefighters dont take jobs for money, they take them for benefits.

But by all means, keep on your rose colored glasses that filter out the glaring truth, we wouldn't want you to actually see the world as it really is. It must be nice to be so white that you can honestly believe discrimination died in the 60's.

No but you also have failed to tell me when the department went paid. I have looked, cannot find it and am not that interested in calling...maybe someone stateside could call? It is a relevant statistic, especially if you take all the stats I listed and then find out the department has only been paid for 10 years or less.

Racism, I see it every day when the black people keep discriminating against the white people of the USA... :)

  8. You apparently have not been to Panama or Destin in years. Panama is covered up in high dollar condos, the redneck riviera has changed to one of the top beach destinations. Every city from Mobile AL to Tallahassee is larger than Marianna.

Oh so now you want them to maintain certs in home state such as AL and drive to Mariana? Your argument becomes weaker and weaker with each asinine response. So more expense for a 24K a year job.

Condos are everywhere...does not mean they are full....see how many are for sale or in foreclosure or sit empty week after week.

  9. Your stats would be meaningful if only the people who lived in the town could apply, but that is not the case. This town is located very close to the top tourist destinations in Florida, so there are thousands more people just a county a city away. I frequently lived over 50 miles from my employers, and if you were employed at one of those big touristy towns, where would you want to work your part-time job -- a small, a slow department, less than an hour away.

You rebuttal would be meaningful if you only knew geography. Marianna is located in the pan handle, so which of these top tourist destinations is it so close to? Please, list some.

Tallahassee (Not a typical tourist destination) 1 hour away

Panama City (Known for Spring Break, it is actually a small town remaining of year) 1 hour 10 minutes away

Tampa 5 hours 34 minutes away

Daytona 4 hours 52 minutes away

Jacksonville 3 hours 28 minutes away

Orlando 4 hours 51 minutes away

Miami 8 hours 17 minutes away

So who is going to drive from these "top destinations" which are located "very close"to a tiny rural community to make 24K a year burning all that time, fuel and wear and tear on vehicle?

  10. Yes I did see the token black to match the now token woman and was pleased. Lets change it around so even those with hoods on can understand. They hired their 2nd white guy in 40 years ! Do your excuses still hold ?

What excuses are you referencing? Also you have yet to counter, acknowledge or address my statistics from the US Census data. It is relevant to this make believe situation of yours.

Let us review the numbers again.

    6230 people in the city

According to the census only 40% are between the ages of 18 and 45 (candidates for fire job)

Means there are 2,492 adults eligible for the job

This is NOT the only job in the city

Let us be generous and say half of those are female or black...leaves 1246 potential candidates for a position.

Out of the 1246 candidates how many WANT to be firefighters, how many have the training, how many already have jobs, how many do not want to work, how many are ill or injured or disabled, so on and so on.

The pool becomes smaller and smaller...until when you finally reach a number of truly eligible candidates....that number must now compete for a rare position on a 18 strong 2 station department that also has a whopping 5 volunteers.

Hmmmm...smelling what I am stepping in?

  11. Have to take exception AK, even in the smallest hick town, the populations tend to run 45-55% female. We had the same BS here in a suburb of Atlanta; it was a hospital run EMS - turned county service, with a female director, who absolutely refused to hire women. Thank God she finally died, now maybe the neanderthals will come up into this century. I can't believe you would defend the attitude of "those pretty little women don't want to do work where they might break a nail, they are far better off at home chained to our beds".

Huh? Where did I defend anything against women?

What I did was expose the actual numbers crotchity was trying to stir debate about...the story loses relevance when you find out it is a 18 member paid department and the second woman hired is only part time. This isn't like a 1000 member department which has been paid for 80 years only hiring 2 women in its existence.

I think you misunderstood my post in its entirety.
