  1. I haven't posted here in over a year. Does anyone remember me?
  2. Not me but my husband is obsessed with Diablo which is a computer game
  3. When I was given adenosine for svt it did not work. They pushed 6 mg the. 12 mg and the 12 again. Is it rare for it not to work 3 times?
  4. My mom was saying that it would be quicker to just drive to the hospital then to wait for the ambulance to come all the way to her house and then back.I know this is all hypothetical and will most likely never happen but I do like to hear what you all say about it.
  5. I just have a question about rattle snake bites if that is ok. Have you ever transported a patient with one? Do you always have to go to the hospital for the antivenin or do ambulances ever carry it ( I am doubting they do since I hear its hard to get sometimes). I ask this because today I was at my moms house. She lives an hour from the nearest hospital out in the country. I was playing with my 2 year old and 6 year old in the yard and my dad said ok there is a rattle snake right by you. I look down and seriously it is a foot from my son and I! And I was wearing flip flops and shorts! We move out of the way and no one gets bit but I was wondering what to do in case of a snake bit. Would you recommend my parents drive us the hour to the hospital or call 911 and wait for life flight to get there or the ambulance to get there. Almost seems if it were the ambulance driving it would take longer! Also do all hospitals carry antivenin and how long would symptoms of the snake bite show? It really freaked me out because my 2 year old and 6 year old were just so close to it.
  6. About 3 years ago I was doing this dishes in a bra and thong panties. I slipped on some water and dislocated my patella. I was right by a phone and could have called 911 but because of what I was wearing or lack of what I was wearing I called my husband who was at the store and told him to come home asap! He helped me get a shirt and shorts on. Even though my knee hurt like hell all u could think of is need I get clothes on ! Good thing too because I knew one of the fireman who came. He was like " hey arn't too Reid's daughter??" yeah pretty embarrassing if they would have came and I had no clothes on
  7. None. I just find it interesting and wanted to learn a bit.
  8. Why is she not getting banned? I wouldnt believe a word out of her or HIS mouth ever again.

    Apology

Wow I just read the 8 pages of lies, crazy stuff. I have pretty much no experience in medicine but none of it seemed at all believable to be. So will she get banned or are you allowed to troll on here?
  10. When I had severe pre eclampsia it wasnt caught right away and turned into full blown HELLP syndrome http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellp_syndrome I dont know how many people in here have heard of that because it is pretty rare. The only cure is delivering the baby no matter how premature the baby is. I am not a medic but I do have experience with pre eclampsia and HELLP so I would get the patient to the hospital asap for delivery, My bp the day I delivered was 200/115. I had magnesium sulfate and an emergency c section. My daughter was only 5 weeks early luckily but it was still a horrible experience. Especially considering I developed sepsis and post partum pre eclampsia as well and was in ICU for 5 days.
  11. I am not a paramedic but all of her symptoms sound so much like mine when I had pre eclampsia/HELLP syndrome. I was admitted to the hospital and given magnesium and labor was induced. When that failed I had an emergency c section.
  12. It is very interesting to try and read the different perspectives (although I admit I have a hard time with some of the medical talk and lingo!). It seems many people would not give morphine for a patella dislocation? After I dislocated mine the firefighters came first. They said as soon as the paramedics came I would get some morphine. It took the paramedics about 10 more minutes to get there and I would have cried if I could not have received morphine when they arrived! Im pretty sure that the started an iv line and the morphine while they were still in my house. I would have thought that happened in the ambulance but I was SO happy to get the morphine. He gave me 4 doses and said by law that was the most he could give. He said there would be a wait for the orthopedic doctor to come in so he wanted to dose me up for the wait. He was nice
  13. It will not let me put a picture in the avatar. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Thank you!
  14. Yeah definitely no propofol for me. That would have been nice instead of suffering for like 1.5 hour between the time I dislocated it, got to the hospital and orthopedic finally came. The morphine did take the edge off though. So what is the difference between knee and patella? Patella is just the knee cap and the knee is the entire knee gets dislocated? And all this time I thought my knee was dislocated.
  15. Honestly I dont know which one it was, I thought it was the same thing! My entire knee cap was on the side of my leg though. It was an actual doctor, actually they had an orthopedic doctor come to the hospital to put it back in place. When he put in back in place it was the WORST pain for about 10 seconds.
  16. I already said I am not an EMT student. I just thought in order to join you had to be in the EMT field. I seriously did dislocate my knee and also had sepsis. I also had 3 kidney infections and had to go to the ER for all 3 this year. I have horrible luck with medical issues. I seriously had no idea you could lose your limb from a dislocation! Once I got to the ER I had to wait too because the regular ER doctor couldnt or wouldnt put into place and they had to call in the orthopedic specialist. I was so frustrated but luckily the nice paramedics had given me a lot of morphine in the ambulance.
  17. When someone calls for an ambulance and its obvious they did not need one? I think I would feel like they were wasting my time and there might be someone else in an emergency who needs it more. I ask this because a few years back I dislocated my knee. It was literally on the side of my leg. I was home alone with mt 2 year old at the time and he was strapped in his high chair. I called my husband first and he was home within a few minutes. He called 911 because I obviously couldnt walk or even get in a car to get to the hospital to have it put back into place. After it happened a friend told me thats not an emergency so why go in an ambulance. Have you had people with dislocations in your ambulance?
  18. Nope! My mom is also a teacher and so is my sister. My husband is a supervisor at a casino.
  19. Thank you Dwayne. That was really nice. I can understand what you are saying about a anxiety attack and maybe it was both the condition I was in made it harder to breathe and that freaked me out so I kept breathing harder and faster. It was 1.5 years ago and I still think of that night and the days to follow often. Yes the paramedics were really nice to me. It was a lady and she was mainly trying to get me to slow my breathing down but I couldnt. I would never belittle a paramedic because I honestly think they are heros. Im sure you and many others on here have saved many peoples lives and they would be dead if it were not for you. So it was definitely not my intention to speak negatively of them. I was just curious about the condition I was in and thought lots of you have seen conditions like this. BTW my dad is a EMT but its for a volunteer fire dept, his actual job is a CHP officer so I truly do have respect for everyone in this field of work. Its a job I know for a fact that I could not handle.
  20. No basically I was just wondering how urgent the situation was. Not wanting to point fingers at paramedics. I am sorry if it came off that way. They were really good to me . Its the 2nd time I have been in an ambulance although the first time was just from a dislocated patella so nothing life threatening. Those paramedics were REALLY good to me as they gave me several doses of morphine!
  21. Dwayne I am not a EMT student, I just thought you had to be in that field to join. I am just an 8th grade math teacher. Also I am not into House or Greys Anatomy. I have never even seen those shows and its not even my interest. I was just curious about what professionals like you thought and thinking about how that night was the worst of my life. I jhave been thinking about being in the ER getting adenosine 3 times among other drugs, being shocked and having no idea what was going on. I had a 3 day old and a 4 year old at the time and I was scared I was going to die. Then spending 5 days in the ICU without my new baby or my 4 year old. After the ICU another 4 days in the hospital. It was awful and I hope it never happens to you or anyone else who seems to be mocking me a bit.
  22. The source of the infection was endomitritis the infection of the uterus. ER doc: so the rapid breathing was due to SVT AND sepsis right... not panic like another medic said. The doctors at the ER told me thats why I was having a hard time breathing. They never once mentioned me panicking and that is also not in my records.
  23. Dwayne I am not getting defensive. So is it just a coincidence that I had a "panic attack" at the time when I fell ill with sepsis and PP pre eclampsia? And I never had a panic attack before in my life, never had one after. Thats the only time in my life I could not breathe... when I had the 225 heart rate and 104.5 temp.
  24. I am looking at the medical records and the CBC shows high white blood cells, low red blood cells, low hemo globin, low hemocrit, low platelets, respitory "dyspnea". I have no idea what the next things mean : Lymph % auto is critical, Mono% Auto is critical, and Lymph Abs is low. Can anyone explain this? I have not a clue on the last couple things. Glucose is high, Calcium and Potassium are critical, high glucose, low carbon dioxide, low albumin. CBC abnormal with pancytopenia and d dimer is elevated at 4132. So paramedics would not even have access to this info anyway since most of it is from blood work but does anyone know what this all means?
