pain - only in extremities or any where else...head,neck back? Lung sounds - ?, SOB? chest stable, any pain, symetrical rising, flail segments,etc Abd, - distension?, tender to touch, bowel sounds head to toe any other fractures noted on secondary and lac's or external bleeding? Reason he fell, did he trip, weakness, pass out, etc. This should keep ya going for a few mins Squint :pottytrain2:

There must be a protocol somewhere for this, otherwise how can you get a "Minor Error". It's absoutly rediculous that have to wait for a gcs drop to justify a blood sugar check!

You are saying that you can not check a blood sugar unless there is a drop in the pt's GCS, or you will be nailed for a protocol violation? :shock: WOW, my advice would to try and get that particular protocol changed, it's stupid.

Connie, you said that the d-fib only had loose wires hanging out and the monitor worked fine, then you probably won't get suspended. If you do, the union will fight the suspension and most likely win. I've seen a few times where they have tried to suspend people for thimgs like this and only giving the employee free days off. Have you talked to your Shop Steward yet, if not do it now, and if he doesn't do anything call the union office. I'm a shop steward as well. Good Luck

Not being familiar with Nubain, I looked it up and it appears to have similar properties to morphine, With the statement above I would probably hold off on the pain meds, according to my protocols. 12 beer in a person would be alot and Yes I would let the ER deal with pain management in this one.
