  1. The volunteer FD service that I am a member of actually has more power on the scene of an accident then the police does. They cannot tell us to leave. thats wierd.
  2. Im jus so eager to get going and get experience. Its frustrating, having all this knowledge but cant really apply it to anything because "im not old enough". And to answer your question im state certified not Nationally registered. You can be state certified as long as your over the age of 16. 18+ is NREMT. I will be turning 18 in JUNE.
  3. I emailed the company they gave me this whole "lecture" on how they dont hire based on age, sex ect...They also sent me an application and told me to apply when I graduate.
  4. Did they take the baby anywhere "different" like a farm or camping recently? Adding on to anthony...anything at the scene that could give clues?
  5. Treat for shock and wait. If hes stable now, keep him that way.

  7. My paramedic friend uses a 600 dollar stethoscope, he said sense hes a paramedic it would only be to his benefit and his pts to get a real nice stethoscope, plus hes a full time Fire fighter Paramedic. As an EMT-B i use a Littmann Lieghtwieght stethoscope 8)
  8. I listened in to the whole conversation very interesting 5/5 stars
  9. Hey. I just passed my EMT-B. I am currently 17 years old. Next year i graduate high school and this year I turn 18. My question is this. I hope to work for American Ambulance the summer i graduate high school. Im worried they wont hire me because of my age and the fact I just graduated high school. I've been volunteering at a fire department sense I was 15, My grades are all Bs and the occasional A. I've been CPR certified for 3 years. I do plan on going for my paramedic after graduation. My resume goes on and on but my question is would a Ambulance company hire someone so young and if so why would they want to? Honestly its just surprising that they would hire someone 18-19 years old. What are my chances? Kind of worried
  10. my favorite section of these forums are the "scenarios" section only because i learn so much from the more experience Paramedics. 8) Thanks.
  11. thats messed up.....a little funny though.....Their attempts to treat the boy were pretty amusing
  12. Wow thats pretty lame. Maybe it was affirmative action
  13. i just dont get it really. So you have an altered mental status and soon some other internal injuries (depending on what they took) and now you want to add a possible airway issue into it, plus the mess. Its just like  I mean i understand its going to absorb and slow down the poisens but is it worth giving? or should I just request some ALS?
  14. At the ambulance company i plan at working at they have 2 LARGE ambulances specifically made for HEAVEY patients, special stretcher, and a nice winch in the back.
  15. i've been using the GPS for about a year. hasn't gone down once. Picks the shortest route automatically, And if i miss a turn it gives me the fastest alternate route. But i do agree with the above comments, if your GPS dependent and your little buddy dies...your in trouble.
  16. that protocol packet is a good idea...i think ill do just that 8)
  17. 400 lb lady throws penny down well....while she is leaning over to look she falls in....she falls about 15 feet down and then gets stick upside down.... not kidding....happened last year.
  18. wow that makes my guess sound horrible. I said water. My brother had that problem when he was young, he had a testicle that filled with water and every few months he had to go to the hospital to get it removed...but this is just a sudden onset....so that takes my guess out any way
  19. My intstructors always said, Everything BUT taste. 8) hasn't failed me yet. Just let the pt know what your doing at all times, so there is no suprises.
